We stayed in Aug 2023 with our family and dog. The house was exactly what we were looking for. House was well furnished, had plenty of amenities to keep us busy when we had down time. Walk to the beach was easy thanks to all of the nature trails. Everything about the vacation was great

Our family loved staying in this house as it was well equipped with everything you would need for the beach. Property was very clean and located in an awesome secluded neighborhood and a short walk to the beach.

The house is in a great community. The inside of the house is clean. I would stay here again.

This was my third time staying at Ruddy Duck and it is just the perfect, lowkey spot to stay in with dogs and easy access to the beach, bay, and restaurants. Thank you so much for having us!

The house is surrounded by live oak trees, feels like you’re in a treehouse. The house was very clean and comfortable. You really feel at home. The house really provides that at home feeling. It was a close up to the beach, and my dogs love the nature trails throughout the community. We will definitely come back again. Thank you for sharing you home with us. L.Delaney

Wonderful property!

The house is perfect for a family. In a quiet neighborhood but only a few minute walk to the beach. House is fully equipped with beach chairs, bikes, games and puzzles. Owners are clearly dog lovers which was a huge perk for us.

We enjoyed out stay. Everything you would need was available. I would improve the directions to the beach. The directions were not as clear as they could have been. Also someone should check to see if everything was out of the dryer. I had to look for towels and found them in the dryer. Also, it would be nice to have a bath mat in the bathroom for when you exit the shower. Overall, it was a very nice place and we would highly recomend staying here.

Nice house, car port, lots of decks and lots of stairs, but we'll worth it all. The beds were comfortable and the inside was very neat and clean. The owners were very willing to help to make your stay as good as possible.

The owner Carri was great to work with: very quickly responsive to any inquiry and easy and friendly to work with. The house was neat, clean and welcoming with "extras" you don't always get such as hand soap, dish detergent, ( and more:-)!) and a storage area that had a great assortment of things for the beach such as chairs, boogie boards and beach umbrellas. Best of all was the red wagon to help haul your chairs, towels and assorted beach things to the beach itself. The wagon was indispensable when you have a lot to get to the beach. The beach as advertised was a 5 minute walk. The house's location is great in that it is pretty much a straight shot to the beach. The only down side is that the house is not on the beach side of 12 which means you have to cross the road every time to get to the beach and back. While there is a crosswalk - many people did not stop and sped on through coming around the curve by the crosswalk- just something to be aware of - but does not detract from the house, the incredibly nice owner and the fact that this house is nicely tucked away in a private quiet neighborhood where people actually live full time.

We arrived and unloaded our stuff. There are quite a few stairs to reach what is the first floor of the bedrooms and another flight of stairs to reach the livingroom/kitchen/dining area. We definitely got our steps in this week. The views out the large windows made it feel like you were living in a tree house. The winds and rain of then tropical storm Ian kept us house bound for 1 day, but the dogs got to run on the beach, which was just a short walk from the house. One of them had never seen the ocean before and was chasing and barking at the waves. The house was definitely dog friendly. Overall had a great time.

We truly loved our stay and had the best weekend! The host was easy to communicate with and always prompt on responses. The check in process was a breeze. It is clear the hosts have gone above and beyond to make it feel like home. With toddlers we appreciated the child gates, toys and games. The bunk room and extra couch/tv on second story was perfect for the kids. The screened in porch was nice to sit in the evenings. There were also dog toys/beds etc for our furry friend. There was plenty of beach gear to include a wagon to pull stuff. All of this made it possible for us to enjoy our stay without worrying about all of the little details. We hope to go back!

This home is located in a wooded and very shaded location, which sounded nice online but in reality made the property very dark and covered in spiderwebs. We unfortunately had to sweep and wipe down all of the outdoor spaces when we arrived and then never even used them for any length of time due to the bugs and overall condition of the outdoor spaces. The home allows pets as well, which we were also excited about, however it seemed that there was a very strong animal urine odor through the first floor which was very unpleasant. We also had to vacuum animal hair from prior guests off of the furniture in the main living room to make it usable. The other negative was there were ants in the kitchen daily as well an occasional palmetto bug in the living room. The positives were that the owner was quick to respond to questions and the home was well stocked with items you don’t always remember or want to pack for a trip. The location of the property was also a short and easy walk to the beach. Not really walking distance to downtown Duck, especially with kids, but the bike ride in was about 3.5 miles and was not difficult. Overall although we enjoyed getting a feel for the northern beaches and the town of Duck during this trip we left feeling disappointed with the property and were unable to feel comfortable in the space 🙁

An amazing stay. From booking to departure. Spoke with Carri a few weeks out to get the lay of the land. This place has everything you need.....accommodation-wise, for the beach and beyond. The location was perfect...... 5 minute walk to the beach. About a mile from Corolla. We even rented a kayak 1/4 mile away. We highly recommend this place, property owners, and destination! Our family had a blast! Bottom line: We didn't have a need for anything, except a return trip! Many thanks!

We had a great stay here - especially since we could bring the family dog and not leave her behind! There were leashes, dog beds and bowls, too. Loved using the bikes (6!) for all of us to go into town. It was so nice to have the linens & towels provided and not lug all that with us & then have to make the beds when we arrive. PLUS, to have nice beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, beach toys/games and a wagon to get it all to the beach made packing the car sooo much easier. Kitchen was great, but does not have a blender at this time, which we use often for smoothies/frozen drinks after a long day at the beach. There was maybe a little more dog hair under a couch or a bed than I would have liked, but we did rent a house that allows dogs so we could bring ours with us, so we just vacuumed a couple spots. Definitely our favorite restaurant dinner was at the Salt Box Cafe down in Kill Devil Hills on Colington Rd (Near the Wright Bros Memorial, which is also worth a quick visit!). Sunset at Jockey's Ridge is always a must do. Went to the top the Currituck Lighthouse and toured the opulent Whalehead mansion. We also played Pickleball on the new outdoor Pine Island courts which was a lot of fun. Not a bad walk to the beach using the various nature trails, but you do hear the traffic from the road when you sit on the decks.

House was as described. Good space for family. Living area was open to kitchen and dining. Short walk to the beach.

As described. Living area was nice and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed. The walk to the beach was pleasant and through a pretty neighborhood. We enjoyed being nestled in the trees and having happy hour and playing card games in the screen in porch. We visited Corolla several times for activities but preferred the quieter beach down the path from us. Our dog loved it as well. Big Bucks icecream and Tullio's Bakery were hits for us. Great stay!

From beginning, Carri was helpful, responsive, and accommodating. The house was perfectly located near other family, the beach, and the Sanderling pool. The house is perfectly outfitted, including all beach necessities, dog friendly, and included all necessary housewares. We were so happy and comfortable in this home we plan to return next year. Thank you Carri and Jessica for making our week and OBX so wonderful.

We had an amazing stay at this home! We really enjoyed being amongst the trees and having such a private place. The openness of the kitchen/living space was perfect for family. The walk to the beach was about 5 minutes and very easy to do. We really enjoyed all the nature trails connecting us to the different neighborhoods. The host was extremely accommodating and we would love to come back!

We were pleased with the rental, yes there were bugs but to be expected with the woods. Also, expect traffic noise which was a surprise to us but next time will learn to ask. Kitchen fully stocked and even condiments which is very rare in other rentals we have stayed in. Overall, we had a nice trip. Short walk on trail to beach. Thank you for allowing our papillons as they love to join us on our trips.

We absolutely loved our vacation in Duck!! This house was wonderful in every way. The hosts have thought of every single detail to make guests feel right at home. We enjoyed the privacy of the home and it’s short distance to the beach along the cute natural pathway. Having beach chairs, bikes, umbrellas, etc….just made everything so easy! We would love to come back and stay here again.

Overall had a wonderful time in Duck at this vacation property. Very private, quite and comfortable with all equipment and needs supplied. The only complaint was the sheer number of spiders on the exterior of the home around doors, screened in porch, etc. Perhaps that is common for this near-woods location. It did not detract from our overall enjoyment of this wonderful property. We had an awesome week and one filled with numerous family memories.

We had a wonderful time at Ruddy Duck! The house was well-stocked with everything we (and our dog) needed. Location was wooded and private, along a nature trail. Coffee and wine on the deck were delightful. It was a quick walk to the beach, and many beach items were provided - wagon, chairs, toys, etc. Our kids enjoyed the bikes. We love to cook and found everything we needed to do so. Carri was a great hostess - responsive and informative.
