This traditional Swahili house is full of artifacts and old tools..when we first entered we felt like in a museum.
The host is a great guy, always smiling, ready to help with tips about Lamu and to accommodate all the needs you may have. He gave us a free room upgrade too. I def recommend you to stay in this fantastic place with an exceptional value for money and a great atmosphere.. location was great too!!
I'd definitely go back when I'll be back to Lamu island

The location
It was raining, didn't explore the town as much as I expected

I love the view from the roof top. Especially in the morning and evening. You can oversee the entire harbour. I also love the intricacy of the house. A great example of the lamu ancient art of building.

I had a very nice stay. It is an old, interesting house with so much character. Very comfortable and Kahindi was very helpful to me. Perfect location in the old part of Lamu.

- The room is spacious and has everything you need, a mosquito net, a fan and an indoor bathroom.
- It is very well located, in the very center of Lamu and a 5-minute walk from the pier.
- The owner is very friendly and attentive,
- I had some problems with the toilet chain and the fan when I arrived but they were solved immediately.

A very beautiful and charming swahili palace. Josh is very nice and helped with everything, even with things not concerning to the accomodation. The room was very big and I could use the Kitchen and the top terrace with very nice views. Best place in Lamu if you want to avoid the fancy resorts.
I love the place and the structure and I think is part of the charm that it looks like this, but is maybe not a place for everyone

Staying in a Shwahili house is a great experience!! Joshua was a great host.
The fan was old and quite noisy.

The terrace was amazing.
Windows wide open, so mosquitoes can be an issue during the rain season. Flush of the top floor bathroom must be fixed

In the heart of Lamu, with kind helpful host, basic but comfortable rooms and spectacular views of the town and water.
Wifi could be stronger. Toilet flush very weak (needs repair or a bucket nearby).

The place is beautiful and has a lot of character. It is an unusual space. It looks like am artist created the hotel. There's an awesome rooftop terrace.
Location is right near the waterfront. Very large room (I was alone, but even for two people, my room came with a large dining table and sitting area)
It was the cheapest on booking.com.
The kitchen was dirty, but since I only cooked once, I didn't care. Still, you can make very simple dishes or use the fridge.

Joshua was really welcoming, friendly and helpful. This is a really interesting building. Our "room" was on several levels. There are some communal seating areas and kitchens you can use. We loved the way everything was built into the room - beds, bench seat, surfaces. The location was good.
We liked everything, but it is probably worth noting that this building, and indeed much of Lamu, will be inaccessible to some people. Lamu is a place of narrow, uneven streets. We found it charming
