The location on the edge of the village and the valley overlook are wonderful. The general concept about the "cottage" as a mini designer / boutique apartment is also nice and some aspects of it are really very well executed. Notably the master bedroom. Also the general impression like the floors, the walls and the windows are very nice and live up to the expectation

The place was announced to have Wifi, but this only appeared to work outside, 50m away under the chestnut tree in front of the castle. The host was pretty rude on this stating no one had a problem with it. Combined with lack of a television, this pretty much let's you isolated which is OK for a weekend but not very practical for a whole week; especially at this level of price and claimed standing. The designer did a good job in terms of look and feel but not a very practical one: The 3 floors are huge, but the spiral staircase is extremely narrow with dangerous small steps. Don't even try to carry a crate or larger bag upstairs. Lucky enough there are also outside stairs from the garden. The bath is very nice, but the shower is clumsily mounted and won't even reach the spray hose... For the size of the living room, the size of the table is ridiculously small and you have a hard time to put your breakfast. Chairs are plainly uncomfortable. The kitchen looks modern and has appliances (no dishwasher) but the 2 heating plates are so small that if you venture to cook (as we did) you really have to improvise. Announced water cooker was not present and it takes 8 min to boil some water for a cup of tea. Decent money must have been spent on the designer heating radiators, but I wonder what this place feels like in summer. The huge windows facing south give a formidable view, but there is no airco. The advertised "spa spring" Source d'Arvory was plainly green and different insects and small animals crawling into it. Not very inviting. In general the elderly owners seem to have a hard time to keep up with the maintenance: Plants are overgrown, rubbish lying in front of the entrance. As the owner is boasting the origin of the house with Admiral Villeneuve, loosing the French fleet at the battle of Trafalgar, the place looks like it settles in that tradition.

First of all I liked very much the friendliness and helpfulness of the lady and the gentleman. I got a kind email because we arrived one day too late and we got a very warm welcome. The cottage we stayed in is very modern and comfortable when one likes a triplex as it was indicated. The chateau itself is beautiful and a peaceful location close to the town centre. Its garden is also safely locked at night and offers free parking inside.

All was fine. Small issues were resolved quickly.
