We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved being steps from the water and were lulled at night by the sound of the surf. It was a quiet neighborhood within a quick drive from the village of Deshaies, where we could get what we needed. Our host and her son were responsive and helpful - and patient with my halting French. We definitely recommend a stay here and will come back if we can!

Die E-Mail-Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin verlief absolut problemlos. Bei der Ankunft waren eingekühlte Wasserflaschen und eine schöne Obstauswahl vorhanden. Das Haus ist mit allem Erforderlichen ausgestattet und verfügt in jedem Schlafzimmer über eine Klimaanlage, was bei den nächtlichen Temperaturen sehr von Vorteil ist. Das Haus liegt direkt an einem sehr schönen und sauberen Strand, der wenig besucht ist und bereits nach wenigen Metern ein kleines Riff zum Schnorcheln bietet. Für uns war die Lage absolut perfekt. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

The beach location was great - just a few steps in the sand to the Caribbean! Geographically, the location was great for "Death in Paradise" fans - between Deshaise and Ste. Rose where most filming seems to have been. Hosts were great - dealt with Hily and he speaks English and was very hepful.

This home is a Caribbean gem, filled with good vibrations, not only from the sound of the sea, but even more so from Yeli and and his Mom, Marie Line, who catered to our special needs and helped with all of our questions. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay a the villa. The house is quite spacious and the equipment is in good condition. The highlight was of course the wonderful terrace which offers a fantastic view of the sea and the sunset as well as the location directly on the beach with a small private staircase just ending in the sand. The beach was usually not very crowded and often we were the only ones there. One time we were even able to spot humpback whales in the distance (which rarely happens as I have learned).

L’emplacement de cette villa est exceptionnel; la mer à nos pieds, les couchers de soleil, on se pinçait de temps en temps pour être sûr de ne pas rêver! En plus, le quartier est très tranquille du fait que la rue est à sens unique. La villa est spacieuse et bien équipée, avec même le lave-vaisselle. Rien n’y manque et on s’y sent vite chez soi. Merci pour ce séjour fabuleux!

This is the first time I rented a property through VRBO. In all honesty, I feel in love with the house, as well as its location directly on the beach, before I even looked to see where it was located. This house is what brought us to Guadeloupe. The host was wonderful & responded right away to any questions we had... even things that weren't property-related, such as, where we could find an ATM nearby. The house was truly perfection with all the amenities you can possibly need. The weather was lovely, the beach was gorgeous, and we enjoyed the sound of the waves that lulled us to sleep every night. We didn't experience any mosquitoes, as mentioned by another guest. Perhaps it was the time of year we visited. We found there to be a constant breeze from the ocean so, perhaps, that kept any pests at bay. We'd like to thank the host for their hospitality and sharing their beautiful property with us. A family of three we very very happy to have stayed in this awesome house on a perfect location. The beach felt almost like a private beach to us, other interesting locations being easily accessible from here by car. The house sleeps 8 persons (5 beds in 3 en-suite bedrooms), of which only one single bed does not have the mosquito net hanging above. Fully equipped kitchen with two ocean-view windows makes everyone a wannabe-cook ;-) The private terrace with two lounge chairs and an enclosed fence and a small surrounding garden with two sunbathing chairs and another enclosed fence all around offers a cosy and safe outside environment for kids play and relaxed parents. The rolling waves in the sea require a parent nearby the kids while in the water. The sand on this beach is a bit “rougher” compared to some other beaches nearby. From the house there is an easy short walk on the sand to the Plage de la Perle (much busier there, though, but some nice food available in the beach restaurants there). The closest village Deshaies offers a few restaurants, a grocery store, a pharmacy, etc. The closest bigger grocery store is Leclerc in Sainte-Rose. For the urgent groceries there is also a tiny local shop along the road right behind the Plage de la Perle. Keep in mind that the actual opening times of the shops might be different to the ones written on Google (Maps) and even to the ones on the official stores websites (shorter, split schedule). We preferred the Basse-Terre island as opposed to the Grande-Terre island as a place to stay… you can always drive to Grande-Terre for two single-day visits of their beaches, but Basse-Terre has far reacher vegetation and terrain diversity. On the Grande-Terre we went twice to the Plage de Bois Jolan and observed the sunrise at Pointe des Châteaux. On the Basse-Terre we went twice to the Plage de Malendure and Petit Plage Malendure (great snorkeling there with colorful fish including barracuda and the turtles and great Coco Sorbet and the sunset behind the Îlets de Pigeon), went on a half-day boat excursion from Sainte-Rose called Blue Lagoon (visited beautiful places in the mangrove forest, snorkled at the great coral reef of Guadeloupe and finished off on a tiny island Îlet Blanc with the tasting of home-made drink called Planteur - tropic fruit juice mixed with rum), drove across the island via Route de la Traversee and stopped at the beautiful and playful Zoo de Guadeloupe au Parc Des Mamelles along the way.

Emplacement idéal pour séjourner entre amis. Le lieu est magique coucher de soleil garanti, musique d'ambiance au son des vagues , un véritable petit coin de paradis :). Propriétaire très sympathique et discrète.

We have been there the 2nd time, and it was definetely not the last time. We really enjoyed our stay and the smart and very, very friendly host !

Nous avons passé une très belle semaine dans cette maison. La mer au pied de la maison et des couchers de soleil somptueux. Une vue exceptionnelle, une maison aux couleurs et style créoles bien équipée, confortable chacune des 3 chambres a sa propre salle d’eau + WC ce qui est très appréciable. Nous avons pleinement profité des extérieurs (terrasse, barbecue, plage). Merci beaucoup à Marie Line et Yeli pour leur gentillesse et réactivité à nos demandes.

Maison spacieuse ( 3 chambres avec chacun sa sdb) très bien équipée, située sur la plage avec une superbe vue , au calme , qui porte bien son nom " Évasion aux sons des vagues". Nous avons passé un excellent séjour . Propriétaire très à l'écoute de ses locataires et soucieux de leur bien être. Nous recommandons vivement cette location.

Das Haus ist auch für 6 Personen groß, die Ausstattung sehr gut und die Lage kaum zu überbieten. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Unsere Vermieter waren immer zur Stelle, wenn es etwas zu klären gab. Vielen Dank, wir können das Haus ohne Zögern weiter empfehlen.

Maison très agréable. Facile à vivre. Et que dire de la vue de la terrasse et de cette proximité immédiate avec la plage. Surveiller les enfants tout en sirotant un ti punch n est ce pas la définition d d'excellentes vacances. La maison est idéalement situé pour découvrir Basse terre. Nous avons passé d excellentes vacances.

Nous avons passé un séjour fantastique. L'emplacement certes isolé mais tellement agréable, si proche de l'eau sur une plage paradisiaque. La maison est simple mais les terrasses extérieures et la proximité avec la plage sont exceptionnelles. Je recommande mais pas trop pour pouvoir y retourner 😋. Merci à la propriétaire et sa famille, discrets et disponibles. Parfait.

Je recommande cette maison pour son emplacement sur la plage, son confort avec climatisation et sdb pour chaque chambre et une cuisine très équipée. La terrasse face à la mer bien ventilée pour passer des momments agréables face à la plage. Tranquillité absolue. Merci encore à Marie-Line pour son accueil et sa gentillesse, nous avons passé un séjour mémorable.

Maison idéalement placée au plus prêt de la plage et du son des vagues. La deco est simple et sans chichi et c’est très bien comme ça. Marie-Line et Yeli sont très sympathiques et disponibles si besoin. Pour les amateurs de snorkeling, allez sur la plage tout à gauche dans les rochers et vous y verrez une multitude de poissons et de coraux. Encore merci pour l’accueil. Nous reviendrons.

Nous avons héberger au gite "au sons des vagues" au début de l'épisode COVID-19. Nous nous sommes retrouvez quelques jours dans ce gite et malgré les conditions sanitaires, le séjour a été très agréables. Le confort et les équipements nous ont permis de profiter complétement. La situation évidement est idyllique. Attention toutefois pour ceux qui ont le sommeil léger, le gite porte bien son nom. Mais quel plaisir au réveil de voire les dauphins passer au loin. Tout est fait pour ce sentir bien ici. Et la gentillesse de Marie-Line, patiente et compréhensive. Son fils qui est juste a coté prêt a aider et répondre a tout les questions. Ils se sont dévoués pour notre retour et fait tout ce qui était dans leur pouvoir pour nous aider à rentrer chez nous. Un grand merci à Marie-Line et à Yeli.

The Villa is just above the beach and offers wonderful views from the very well equipped large covered deck. We chose the bedroom that gave access to the deck with Sea view, which is very nice, but we experienced unusually large sea swells which were very noisy. Nevertheless, we stayed in the room although others are available, The hosts are lovely, and very helpful. We will go back!

Haus, Lage und Gastgeber einfach grossartig! Wir werden das Rauschen der Wellen noch lange vermissen!

Our host greeted us in a very warm and welcoming way despite us arriving at about 11 p.m. The hosts even had some delicious food prepared to help us through our first day, which was a holiday. Two of the best beaches on Guadeloupe (La Perle and Grande Anse) are within walking distance from the house, the de facto private beach right in front of the house is also very nice. Many acitivities for example in Deshaies and Sainte-Rose are just a few kilometers away, the nighborhood as such is nice and quiet. The house is well equipped, very clean and big for four people. A stay at this fabulous retreat is wholeheartedly recommended.

Zunächst möchten wir uns, 3 Paare aus Deutschland, für den freundlichen Empfang bedanken. Yéli hat uns zu später Stunde in seiner sehr charmanten und zuvorkommender Art begrüßt und eingewiesen. Da wir erst spät anreisten, überraschte er uns noch mit einem leckeren Essen seiner Mutter Marie–Line. Im Kühlschrank stand zudem eisgekühlter Früchte–Punsch bereit. Die Lage des sehr gut ausgestatteten Ferienhauses ist wirklich ein Traum! An das Rauschen der Wellen kann man sich recht schnell gewöhnen und findet, mit den über den Betten hängenden Moskitonetzen, schnell in den Schlaf. Für Fragen und Tipps stand Yéli jeder Zeit zur Verfügung, er wohnt mit seiner Mutter auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite. Nach einer Woche erhielten wir neues Bettzeug und Handtücher. Dank der hervorragenden Lage direkt am Strand, nur die Treppe herunter und ca. 20 m bis zum Wasser, war es ein tolles Bade– und Schnorchel–Vergnügen. Überwiegend waren wir an dem Strandabschnitt unter uns, hier und da kamen mal andere Badegäste. Die Sonnenuntergänge waren jeden Abend ein beeindruckendes Erlebnis, ob mit oder ohne Wolken, faszinierend. Wir hatten einfach eine tolle Zeit, DANKE Yèli & Marie–Line! Die nahe liegenden Strände, La Perle ca. 15 Min und Grande Anse ca. 25 Min, sind zu Fuß gut zu erreichen. Mit dem Mietwagen (unbedingt zu empfehlen) erreicht man in kürzester Zeit diverse Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Märkte, Tankstelle, Apotheke, Arzt ..... Nicht zu vergessen, dass Guadeloupe eine wunderschöne, üppig grüne, in alle Richtungen sehenswerte, Insel ist. Der kleine Ort Deshaies ist unbedingt ein muss! Hier kann man nicht nur schön flanieren und shoppen, nein man kann in den vielen Restaurants, meistens auf einer Terrasse direkt am Wasser, auch lecker Essen und den Ausblick genießen. Ebenso ist das nahe gelegene, malerische Fischer–Dorf St. Rose einen Ausflug wert. Hier werden unter anderem alle möglichen Ausflüge auf dem Wasser angeboten. Der Ausflug auf den Vulkan sollte, sowohl was das Wetter und die körperlicher Konstitution angeht, gut überlegt sein. Doch wenn man es nach oben geschafft hat, wird man mit einem traumhaftem Ausblick belohnt. In der Stadt Pointe-à-Pitre haben wir uns nicht lange aufgehalten, leider gab es an diesem Tag mitten im Zentrum einen heftigen Hausbrand. Allerdings haben wir anschließend im wunderschönen, beeindruckenden Jachthafen eine schöne Zeit verbracht. Ortsausgang von Deshaies befindet sich der Botanische Garten, auch wunderschön.

Je pense que les photos parlent d’elles même, il n’y manque que le son des vagues. Si le paradis existe, je veux qu’il soit comme ça !!! Grand merci à Marie-Line et Yeli, aussi charmants que discrets. (ainsi que pour la vanille…) La tribu Garbay qui reviendra.
