The house was perfect for our family of 4 to spend a long weekend. The location to the river and downtown is unbeatable and communication with Sue was flawless at all times. We even left a small item at the home and Sue worked with her housekeepers to find it and send it back to us. Could not be more grateful for this gem and we will definitely stay here again anytime. The weather was very hot when we arrived. When we entered the cabin it was dark and hot inside with no lights on, blinds tightly closed and no air conditioning. Thankfully, the cabin had fans which we used. The railing for the stairs outside the cabin was very wobbly, making it difficult and unsafe for the elderly people in our party to climb the stairs. We were thankful the weather cooled down so we were able to finish our 6 night stay. The living room sofas were nice and the beds were comfortable with Memory Foam Toppers. We hadn't realized the cabin would not have a dishwasher and regretted the lack of sanitation it provided. The description of the cabin should have noted its rustic nature, many stairs outside and inside and lack of a dishwasher as well as forced air and heat. We turned the television on but none of the remotes provided worked.

The cabin was perfect for our needs. This part of the world is beautiful and we are thankful for our time here.

This cabin is perfect for a weekend away. It is close to downtown and to the river! The kitchen is well equipped for cooking all meals and the grill is an added bonus. The best part of the cabin is the large deck with views. We spent most of our time enjoying the outdoors! Will be back for sure!

We had a wonderful stay in this rustic cabin on the Russian River. Everything was just as described and in working order. We sat on the deck and sipped wine. We built a cozy fire in the evening and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Location is right in the center of Alexander Vally and minutes from Healdsburg. We had a great time.

The location can’t be beat, close to town and a short walk to the river. The accommodations were listed accurately and reflected well in other reviews. For us, it was just right. We Spent the day at the river or in town, came back to enjoy the patio and view, and when it got chilly came in and lit the stove. Not a chef’s setup; all our meals were take-away. Great spot for a low-key getaway to enjoy Healdsburg, play board games, not to be distracted by things and frills. We’d come back.

If your purpose is to stay close and cuddle by the 🔥, great choice

Repeating a previous review. No heat except the stove insert. Not an ideal cabin if wet and cold out. Tight parking and hairpin turns, glad we had a sedan. Other amenities did not function properly. We made Sue aware of all the challenges. We made it work and Sue, being out of the area did what she could.

This cabin was very convenient for experiencing Healdsburg and was well-equipped and clean. The outdoor balcony is very nice, weather permitting. The layout is not ideal for seniors due to a lot of stairs. We enjoyed our stay!

On the whole we enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The large porch and its view were the high point. It is just a few minutes walk to the river and gravel beach. Sue was responsive to our needs and questions. However. There are quite a few stairs outside to get to the cabin and another steep set to the upstairs bedroom. While the bathrooms and kitchen were clean, the whole house needs a deep cleaning. The interior is dimly lit. There is no air conditioning and the only working heat is the stove inset fireplace. The driveway was very difficult to navigate in our medium sized SUV. So, adjust your expectations. This cabin has good points and is certainly better than camping on the riverbank, but it is not as modern, gleaming, and posh as other accommondations in Healdsburg.

Wonderful

Hidden in the woods, yet just minutes from all that Healdsburg has to offer. A very comfortable cabin, nothing fancy, but the beds were exceptional. The only thing I would warn others is that there are a lot of stairs ... a LOT OF STAIRS. We are all in our 70's and in good shape, so we did ok, but the stairs up to the bedroom would have been too much for some. Just saying it should be disclosed in the description to avoid any disappointment. Also, no place to hang clothes upstairs, tons of drawers which was great, but had to hang dresses downstairs AFTER we went to the store for hangers (not a one in the place) ... there is now, however, because we left the ones we purchased. Don't get me wrong, these were little things ... overall the stay was perfectly lovely! Amazingly quiet and peaceful ... a total getaway ... and a great bargain for the area! We would rent again for sure!

Simple cabin, perfect for a relaxing weekend away. You get the best of both worlds with this great location- close to the river, and very easy and quickdrive into town or to nearby wineries. We had a wonderful weekend here!

For those looking for a rustic cabin getaway in the woods that is distinctly not Healdsburg "hoity toity," yet just minutes away from all the upscale amenities the town offers, this is the place for you. This mountain cabin with charming knotty pine walls and decor is quite a bit more spacious than we expected from the photos. The ambiance is especially great during the day. The ceiling fans are so nice and we were comfortable in the warm weather. The kitchen is well stocked. The big patio among the trees is absolutely FANTASTIC and we especially enjoyed morning coffee and evening meals there. So pleasant. Beds are very comfortable. Excellent proximity to the river where we spent our days (easy walking distance with ability to quickly drop off gear with the car--but NO parking at the river). Sue is a terrific host and excellent communicator. She promptly responded to all inquiries/questions and offered helpful local tips. While a few minor upgrades would make a big difference--garbage disposal, updated TV, better lighting, and periodic deep-cleans, those who seek a tranquil rustic retreat will enjoy this place. Overall, we were very pleased, had a great time, and will return!

Our family knows Fitch Mountain well, and we were happy to find a place to rent to hold a few more members for our large family reunion. Sue's place provided the location we wanted! One thing to note for travelers with the bedrooms ... one has a king size and one a full size. We found this made for some challenges for 2 couples using the cabin.

A peaceful retreat in the heart of wine country!

My family with two young kids enjoyed the river fun. Camp Rose beach is just a short walk down the hill. The "beach" is just a field of rocks and weeds, but you spend most time in the water, not playing on the shore. There were two working floaty rings under the porch that my kids used. The lack of a dishwasher was no big deal. There were plenty of dishes in the fully-stocked kitchen. But river fun is dirty, so it would have been great to have a washer and dryer in the unit to clean the dirty clothes before leaving. The place could use a Spring cleaning as there was a lot of debris under the furniture, but that didn't bother us much. Some people demand perfection, but this is a cabin in the woods, so expect some dust and spider webs. We saw deer outside our window - it's a naturally beautiful place.

The place is a little far from town, but not bad if you are okay driving everywhere. The river was so nice to stay all day at, especially in the heat. Our only complaint is the house had spider webs everywhere and spiders when we got there. It did not seem deep cleaned. The owner was very responsive and offered to have a cleaner come the next day.

Very little by the way of spices/condiments, etc. What is there is old and generally beyond expiration dates. Unlike other places we have stayed, the host of this property isn't making any special effort to ensure that the property is welcoming. It's quite dark inside and there were not nearly enough lamps. What's more, most lamps had burned out bulbs. We we scrounging to move bulbs around between lamps just to get enough to light at least a portion of the dining area well enough to be comfortable. To be honest when I book a place to stay, I don't really want to have to spend my time scrounging to replace burnt out light bulbs.The dining table had chairs that didn't fit properly and were awkward to use. The entire property just felt like not much thought or effort had been put into making it work well. The provided towels were the cheap thin kind you might find at a cheap motel. The shower had half used bottles of leaking shampoo and already-used soap bars.I wouldn't stay at this property again.

This cabin is located only 5 minutes from downtown Healdsburg. It is a short walk to the river. Our favorite thing about the cabin was the largest deck, which is where we ate our meals alongside a beautiful view. It was 90 degrees outside during the daytime but with the windows open, it cooled down nicely in the evening. Never needed to use heat or fans. Thanks Sue for sharing your property. It was very unique. Tip - it’s hard to find light switches if you arrive after dark. It’s a rustic cabin, as described.

Healdsburg was a charming little town, and we enjoyed some ice cream in the town square among the sequoias. A few issues with the home though. The first was, we made sure to select an VRBO that included a washer and dryer, as we needed to do some laundry. We had been traveling for almost three weeks and this component is essential. When we could not find them, we e-mailed the owner asking where they are, she replied saying the dryer was on the fritz, and we would not want to use it. We replied we would like to use the washer and we could air dry our clothes, and again received a reply that the dryer is not working, and we would not want to use it. After a third message, we found out either the washer and dryer were not there, or they just did not work. This was very disappointing and misleading. The home has several things in need of repair. The bottom hinge on the cabinet door where the plates and bowls are stored is broken, so the door dangled from one hinge. The sliding glass doors won’t close all the way and lock, so a stick in the door is necessary any time you are away, for security. It was close to 90 degrees during our stay, but the air conditioner has a sign stating something like, “Do not turn on, it will smell bad”. It looked like it has not been working for a long time. Hard to imagine a VRBO in the summer here, without AC. Cleanliness is extremely important to us, and we have usually been very happy with how clean our VRBO’s are. The floors and countertops were clean, but cobwebs covered every skylight and ceiling fixture, with spiders and bugs all over the place. We also found her “information page” very outdated. In general, not that big of a deal but, it just added to the comedy of errors. Ultimately, this VRBO needs some attention, and the description and things to do need to be updated to reflect the truth.

Our stay was super nice - the property is private enough, but still very close to downtown Healdsburg (though you will need to drive). Our young kids loved the cabin and the patios, and we had a really relaxing visit!

Perfect spot by the river with a wonderful view. Healdsburg is a wonderful town and this cabin is not very far but secluded enough to enjoy some quiet. I recommend checking this place out.

The cabin was clean and cozy; beds were comfortable. The only problem, in my personal opinion, was that the living room did not have heaters. It was quite cold in the evening and in the morning. Of course, there was a fireplace and it made the temp very toasty once we started that fire. I had to start an oven and keep the door open to warm up the living room in AM. Otherwiswe, we had a very nice stay. Thank you
