The Beach is Back!! Loved staying in Buxton and the short walk to the beach!

Once again Docks did not disappoint. Ready when we arrived. New bedding & a new fridge greeted us for this stay (our 4th). They were doing beach replenishment on out beach, but it did not deter us. Already looking forward to next year. Thanks, Richard & Charles for another great vacation.

Enjoyed our stay here. It was the perfect size and location. The balcony offers shade and sun for you to sit in and enjoy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Docks. The home is better than advertised. Very clean, well appointed and excellent location. While we were sadly unable to use the beach access during our stay due to the beach nourishment project, it is just steps away. We will for sure be returning soon!

We had a great stay at the Docks cottage. It was very clean at check-in, and offered us everything we needed for our week long stay. The location is beautiful with a lot of interesting sites and beaches to check out close by. The view from the deck is outstanding, and the neighborhood was very quiet. We definitely plan to stay at the Docks cottage again!

Great beach house for our small family. Place was clean and view was spectacular from deck. Only complaint was there was no beach. There was no place to set up due to storms wiping out beach. Hope next year will be different with the beach revitalization.

The house was nicely maintained, outdoor showers deluxe. Interior furnishings and kitchen well-supplied. There is an unimpeded view of the ocean from upper porch, but about 4 lots back from beach, not oceanfront as I had requested originally. Nice area though and had a very nice time.

Our family had a car and a truck, so we just avoided going out in the car when water was high. Very family friendly location. We had an infant, 2kids and 4 adults. It was nice to be able to quickly run back to the house for bottles, bathrooms, and to grab snacks while at the beach. There are tons of places to go check out, stores nearby to get your necessities (dollar general was our best friend lol). All around, we had a great stay! Owners were quick to respond with our questions also.

What should be our 3rd stay at Dock’s, is actually our 2nd. Hurricane Isaias had other plans for us last summer. This year was very anticipated & Dock’s did not disappoint. Richard is one of the best owners I’ve encountered. Very responsive & accommodating. The house is perfect for what we need (a roof over our heads, comfortable beds, equipped kitchen). It was clean & ready for us when we arrived. The 2 outdoor showers are great also. We used the boogie boards & beach chairs in addition to our own. The washer & dryer is always a bonus! We will definitely be back again.

Our family had a great time at The Docks. It was so close to the beach it made it very easy with young kids. I failed to read about supplying our own linens but the owner got back to me quickly with where to get some. Sunrise on the balcony, star and moon gazing...perfect.

We booked this trip a week before we arrived and are so grateful it was available! Richard emailed me a long list of local recommendations prior to our stay and the check in was seamless. The house is literally steps away from the ocean. I had a 6, 4, 2 year old and all their respective beach stuff in tow, and we were still able to walk to the beach in 2min. The beach was lovely and not too crowded, which made for a stress free covid vacation. The house itself is very practical. Outdoor showers and clotheslines for drying were very helpful. And my husband and son took advantage of the boogie boards. Inside, it is a basic beach house. Not fancy, but it was perfectly clean and had everything we needed! If you are bringing kids, it is perfect because the couches and carpeting are very practical. We loved our stay here and would happily stay again next summer.

Property was great location . During our stay 8/15-8/22 the air conditioner failed on Monday when we lost power for 5 mins and the house temp rose to 86 degrees . Very tough sleeping due to the heat even with ceiling fans on. Hvac guys came out on Thursday and didn’t fix the problem, they came back again Friday and said there was something wrong with the well which is causing the problem. Would have given 5 stars because everything was perfect except 5 days without A/C and listening to the kids and grandparents complaining of the heat in the house. Had to eat out for the remainder of the week because we couldn’t use the stove or oven due to the heat in the house without A/C working . Would have thought we would be compensated something for our troubles . The owners really need to upgrade the Hvac system ... Also bring a hammer many nails sticking up on the ramp to carport, I purposely did not use car port for that fear of puncturing a tire because of a nail . The owners are indeed very responsive to any and all questions , it’s a beautiful location , however they really need to start upgrading the furniture and HVAC system. Again, because of the issue with the A/c Iam giving 3stars. .... otherwise I would have given 5 ! It really is a perfect getaway except for the mishap with the A/C ...

This is our second time at DOCKS - this property and location is just what the Doctor Ordered for Summer Vacation 2020 ! We enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the home and neighbor and the beach / water / waves of Diamond Shoals can not be beat! We will be back. PS: Richard is the best owner and source for information for that area - Buxton Seafood for fresh fish and shrimp to bring back to the house for a grill was just too good we did it twice !

Had a great stay here, thanks to Richard and his family for sharing it with us. You'd be hard-pressed to find a place closer to the beach without paying an arm and a leg. House was clean and just as advertised. We walked along surface roads to the lighthouse from here, a bit of a hike so if you're interested in leaching the car behind, consider riding bikes instead. Some small caveats for prospective renters: - heavy rains take a few days to drain off the road, but this was not a problem for our old minivan. - none of the bedrooms have windows facing the ocean, if this matters to you. Summer visitors will find it so humid that those windows will stay closed anyway. - this property does not have an outdoor grill.

I am highly impressed with the property, it’s very close to the beach, the house was very clean, there was a missing post on porch and the owner promptly had someone fix it. We will be coming back every year as a family tradition and hopefully rebooking here each time

The Docks was perfect for our family’s get-away. The accommodations were comfortable, pristinely clean, and well-appointed. We were a minute walk from the beach - so close that we could quickly walk back for snacks, bathroom breaks, and equipment. The boogie boards in the laundry room were a welcomed surprise. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed to prepare meals. The outdoor showers were very convenient and used daily. The cottage is not a luxury rental, but perfect for those who want reasonable, comfortable accommodations while enjoying everything that Hatteras Island has to offer. We highly recommend the property!!

Very close and very easy access to beach, nice and quiet neighborhood. Comfortable home.
