We were a group of three adult females visiting Costa Rica for the first time. The house, property and pool are beautiful. I highly suggest allowing Del to schedule your transportation and excursions. All were flawless. The transportation to and from the airport was worth every penny. Don't be intimidated by the driveway. We rented the car from Del and once Adrian showed us how to navigate the driveway, it was no problem at all, even in the rain and dark. We saw lots of birds, had daily visits from agouti and coatimundi that we enjoyed watching.

Second time staying in Uvita - this time with our boys, ages 12 and 17. Del's property is a beautiful paradise respite. Do beware, power outages can be a slight hinderance. It's par for the course up in those hills. We had several, mostly in the evening, and lasting a few hours. However, we were not deterred! Candles and a gas grill made all the difference. We were able to cook and clean and enjoy the night time jungle sights (lots of fireflies) and sounds without worry. Adrian, the property manager, lives on site just a stone's throw from the casa. He was always quick to check in and keep us posted. He's also very friendly and courteous and prompt when you need help with anything. We enjoyed walking the property grounds with him and learning more about the area. Additionally, Del was VERY helpful with booking tours for us and checking in to make sure we were enjoying our stay... And, as many others have commented - the road is steep, but with the right vehicle, you won't have any issues. The only regret from our 17 year old son was that he couldn't drive it himself (due to his age and rental car rules). :) Overall, we loved our time there. Pura vida!

The house was everything we wanted! Stunning views with total privacy! And of course everyone wants it to be peaceful … the only noise was from the critters & birds in the jungle … very unique sounds … just loved it! We were lucky enough to see a Toucan right at the house but sadly no Monkeys. All-in-all bugs not bad but do watch out for the spiders. Landscape and gardens were absolutely beautiful. Oh and the pool was so refreshing with stunning views while floating on our rafts (worth bringing)! We also enjoyed using sliding board … it was so fun😆.
It’s a very safe place … we always left shutting the front door but every other door and windows were left open. There is a safe in the bathroom cabinet (which is not mentioned in the info packet at the house). We put our passports and extra money in there. Adrian (the property manager) reassured us that we didn’t need to worry even with passing neighbors “no one would enter the house” and he was right! I just want to emphasize how Adrian was always available to answer all of our questions and he was very helpful and made some awesome suggestions. Communication with Del was also great & very helpful! Thank you both!!
One activity we highly recommend which isn’t far from the house … just a ride down the mountain … Uvita Paradise Adventures what a blast!
As comments have been made previously, just be prepared for the ride up the mountain to the house!
It’s worth the extra money to stay and spoil oneself here!

Had an absolutely wonderful time staying at Del's place. The house is beautiful and the kitchen well stocked for anyone wishing to prepare meals. The view of the Whale Tail from the second floor master bedroom is spectacular and Adrian the care taker is so helpful. The drive up the mountain as others have mentioned is interesting but definitely worth it! Will definitely stay again next time in the Uvita area!

We loved everything about our stay!! The property was exactly as described and was the perfect way for our family to get away from the business of life and reconnect in the jungle of Cosa Rica. 100% recommend!!

You found it! Just book it! Everything was amazing! The view down is as good as the listing says. The pool and back patio area are perfect for relaxing while at the house. Uvita and Dominical are nice small towns with great grocery stores. The national park service beaches in Uvita are great natural beaches. The host was very helpful and offered anything we needed. We would definitely stay here again!!

We loved our stay in Uvita! Kids got plenty of use from the water slide. Perfect views and wonderful onsite property manager.
*Master suite is upstairs and is the only room with air conditioning.

Del was absolutely amazing. Prior to leaving the US he spent countless calls with us arranging the actuvities we would do while at his property. The fishing guide was PERFECT. The property alone was perfection but arriving to a delicious home cooked meal was out of this world service!! The caretaker Alicia was so wonderful and sweet! I cant recommend this place enough! Thanks Del!

We had a great time and the house was perfect for our family vacation. Edgar was wonderful, friendly and helpful. The road to the property is intense as other reviews indicated but the view is spectacular. Uvita is a beautiful place to visit!

The views from the house are beautiful. Edgar, the gentleman who helped with check-in and problems we had at the house, was kind, caring, and professional.
However, Del, the person who we corresponded with before our arrival was rude and his customer service left much to be desired. His unkind manner was unfortunate.
The road to the house is truly difficult and can be dangerous during rainy season. For context, we live in Costa Rica and have a 4x4 vehicle. We still got stuck on the drive to the house. Only ATVs, dirt bikes, and one work truck were on the road. By luck, the work truck had 6 very kind men who stopped and all pushed our car to help us along the way. We were told by those men to be very careful on the road when it rains in the afternoon (and it rains every afternoon). As a result, we only went into town in the morning. This was extremely limiting in our ability to explore Uvita, enjoy live music in the evenings, or go out for dinner. Driving up the road was always stressful.
The house has beautiful views. However, half the lights downstairs did not work. Only the upstairs master bathroom had towels or toilet paper - none of the downstairs bathrooms were prepared for guests. We had to ask for a second bedroom to have sheets put on the bed - the other bedroom had a mattress covered with a blanket. The house could not be less inviting. It seemed like the host only wanted us to use the master bedroom and bathroom (but we rented the entire house).
We ended up leaving the house a day/night early. The road was so limiting and the house was not welcoming. It honestly felt like Del did not want us to be there. (Again, Edgar was very nice.)
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend anyone use this property.

Amazing property
This house was a slice of heaven!! You really felt as if you were living in an oasis in the middle of the jungle/rain forest. The views are breathtaking of the whale tail. My son loved the pool slide!! We even took a little family hike during our stay to take in our surroundings. The lights did go out our last night while I was cooking, but thank goodness there was a bbq pit and my hubby finished cooking our dinner… That was the only challenge but that’s normal in Costa Rica. The other challenge was getting to the property, but we called the owner and he had Alex meet up with us to guide us the rest of the way… After the first day my hubby knew his way up and down the mountain and around town. My family and I will definitely be back..
3.0
The property was okay. The view exceptional. Furniture was uncomfortable...no living room furniture except a table with 2 benches, and 2 uncomfortable chairs. Outdoor furniture was the same. We had to double up chair pads to sit to watch a movie.
Bugs everywhere. Blinds did not work in most rooms, and one master bedroom had no blinds above the bed, so someone could look in the windows over the bed from the garage. That was a bit creepy.
Electricity was off and on constantly, and water backed up in the showers and kitchen sink. At one point, we had no water.
Two baths had no real mirrors or lighting. A small light in the ceiling, and an unlighted makeup mirror on the wall was it.
What made us really unhappy was the fact that the landlord was nice and friendly when we first booked, but when we tried to change our dates, he refused and became sarcastic and unreasonable. There was a level 4 covid no-travel advisory for costa rica and he would not allow us to delay our arrival until a later date. He then said he would give us a "credit", if he was able to rent the house for the time we had it reserved. Never got a refund, nor an answer on whether he rented it. In good faith, we cancelled and rebooked a month later when the advisory was lifted. We are going to follow up with VRBO about a refund for the previous booking we were unable to use..
WARNING: Getting there is a challenge. Both of us had to take Advil daily after driving the "trail" up to the house. Our 4 wheel drive could not make it, along with others we saw stalled along the rough, rocky, washed out, roller coaster, switch back, steep access to the house. We asked the landlord if we could use his Toyota 4 wheel drive (which he rents by the day), and he did so without a charge for a few days. That was the only "credit" we received. Pretty expensive rental car!
Throughout communications to this owner, I was friendly and courteous, but let him know of my disappointment with the refund. He offered the car to us as partial reimbursement. We were thankful for that or we would not have been able to leave the house. He asked me for a good review, and I asked him for a refund, which did not go over very well. Everything I have written here is true, and if you rent this house, you will find out for yourself.
There are a lot of nice houses there with phenomenal views at a lower cost. This was not a good experience, and definitely not worth the effort or money.

All about the view for us!
Waking up to looking over the trees and down upon the small city was amazing. It is very high up a mountain so the drive is very steep(bumpy!) and the road is mainly dirt till you reach near the actuall house. The hot water is ran off propane and only one shower can be ran at a time, also tou can't have any of the appliances going while someone is showering. Lots of animals and bugs! There are extremely small sugar ants that are just simply everywhere in every room. The property has fruit trees and beautiful flowers and the beds were comfortable. The main bedroom is the only room in the house with AC. At the bottom of the driveway there is a cute little breakfast spot, Esmeralda. Alex was very helpful and always replies in a timely manner. Over all it is a beautiful tropical house!

Had a great time. Owner & ground keeper were extremely nice. Beautiful house & property.
Had a great time! House, pool & property were unreal. Saw plenty of different wildlife from house. If you want privacy, good people & breath taking views I would strongly recommend this property.

Beautiful experience
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Alex and Estafany, the caretakers, were readily available, spoke good English, and helped us with a few minor issues. The pool was clean and lovely, the kitchen well-stocked, and the beds comfortable. Toucans and parrots awakened us each morning, and the jungle noises at night were soothing and exotic.

Pura Vida!
This was our fifth trip to the same area in Costa Rica. Access to this property was a bit of a challenge with our four wheel drive rental, but a very comfortable home with a nice ocean view. The caretakers on the property were awesome people and very helpful. Looking forward to our visit next year!

The house is a little tough to get to but it's worth it. Wonderful views with a great pool. Lots of privacy with assistance nearby if you need it. With 3 bedrooms it is perfect for a family stay.

Wonderful property
The views from the house are amazing! It is a bit of a trek up a mountain road with some pretty steep inclines up toward the top. We rented an AWD and had no problem getting up and down the mountain using "sports mode" (though I imagine it would be more difficult during rainy season). Del was very responsive prior to our arrival and checked-in the first day to make sure all was well. Alex, the caretaker, is exceptional - friendly, helpful, and responsive. He arranged a horseback ride to the Nauyaca Falls with a wonderful guide named Marvin. One of the highlights during our trip. A clean, very comfortable house with a great swimming pool, surrounded by wildlife and stunning scenery. Highly recommended.

Great Place, just be aware of fee addons
Place is great and the property managers were amazing. Its way way up the mountain so get ready for some thrilling unpaved roads, but that is to be expected for anyone who has been here a at all. The kids loved the pool and I loved the openness. The only reason that it doesn't get 5 stars is I paid more in add on fees then the actually booking of the property. (property fees, per quest add ons, cleaning fees, etc.) Just look at the fine print before hitting agree.

Retreat in the clouds
The pictures cant even begin to do the property justice, this place is just amazing. Everything was clean and well maintained, and the onsite hosts were as nice as you can get. Getting up the mountain can be... harrowing, be prepared to go slow and you must have 4wd. But being that far up ensures you are alone and among the clouds, withthe real actual rain forest only feet from the pool. The whole experience was surreal, and I would definitely rent from Del again

A million dollar view
This home has an amazing view of the whales tale. The garden is beautiful and the pool is amazing. The kids enjoyed the pool more than anything else. We did feel a tiny earthquake while we were sitting out on the porch. To drive up to the amazing house make sure you DO get a 4x4, if you don’t get one you won’t make it. It is very steep going up the mountain. The drive up is around 15-18 minutes from Uvita.
Alex the caretaker is really nice and helps you in anything you need. He wants to make sure you are okay and have everything you need. He can also help you look for tours. Hermès the driver that picked us up at the airport is a wonderful driver. We felt safe with him driving us to Uvita.
We had a wonderful time. This was our 25 year anniversary and wished we could of stayed there longer. Until next time. Pura Vida!!!!

Why you should book this property now!
There is not enough space in this box for me to paste the entire review that I wrote. So, let me be more brief.
The owner and caretakers of this property are very helpful and sincere. Arranging for a driver to pick us up at the San Jose airport and return us there was the best, as we didn't have to worry about renting a car or navigating driving in an unfamiliar country. Renting the owner's 4x4 was perfect, and easier than trying to rent a car at the airport.
As for the tours, we recommend very strongly the horseback riding tour with Marvin. It's only 1.5 miles riding from his farm to the Nauyaca Waterfalls, so just enough for novice riders, with swimming, lunch (provided), and exploring Marvin's family farm. Book this tour - the most authentic CR experience we had in country.
The ATV tour is also strongly recommended; a great way to see the various microclimates in the rainforest without having to hike 4000 feet up the mountain. The waterfalls and coffee plantation tour were perfect.
Minor issues were that the Wi-Fi password in the VRBO app was incorrect, several lights in the property were burned out, and the room safes were inoperable. But we were able to get the password from the caretaker Alex, and we didn't complain about the other things as they were no big deal.
The views, flora and fauna, pool, etc at the property are amazing! Have the resident maid/chef cook you dinner once.
Highly recommended!

Excellent property with friendly onsite caretakers who went the extra mile to make sure we felt welcome and comfortable. The owner is engaging and wants to help you have a great experience. We took two excursions he recommended and had fantastic experiences. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous and close to nature!
You MUST like nature to truly appreciate this beautiful property...as described there are loud and active bugs, birds and monkeys (although I didn't see the monkeys, they were always there). You have to keep the doors and windows open to enjoy the breeze and fresh air but you will have to deal with flying creatures in the house, it is what it is....I would have liked to see a little less of the miniature ants that came out in an instant whe food was around...you cannot leave anything in the open for more than 5 minutes or magically hundreds of these tiny, tiny ants will appear and try to take your food...I left a tri-tip to cool off the grill on the counter and it was history before I could enjoy it....Oh well, lesson learned...Alex is great, the caretaker I wish I spoke better Spanish so I could have worked more easily with him but hey, we got it done, eventually! The pool needs to be netted daily, I wasn't great about bringing this up to Alex but I should have, the bugs are a challenge...the views are breathtaking and the proximity to town is great. Yes, you need a 4x4 but the one I got from the rental place was fine It is a hike from San Jose, no doubt....All in all I loved it abd would go back....Del was very responsive and I enjoyed my stay, thanks, Del!

Million dollar views but only after driving up the worst road
First the good, The owner and caretakers of the property were amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. The property was amazing, the views were jaw dropping. Toucans everyday. The house was immaculately clean. Good abundance of towels and other basic necessities. The bad; The road to the property is worse than a goat trail, unbelievably steep and rocky. The owner did say you'll need 4wd but 4wd with lower gears is best, we barely made it up the first time loaded with luggage. The road to the house makes it very difficult to go back in forth to do day trips. If you are planning to go out for a meal and come back and then go the beach later, you will want to rethink the drive up the mountain. Though the property is advertised with laundry facilities and AC, we were surprised to learn that those cost $10 per day extra. When I asked the owner he said that he only includes those when you pay the premium price, and that we should feel lucky to get the Covid price. The last thing is the late check in and early check out. Check in isn't until 4pm and checkout is 8AM. the caretakers did let us leave our bags there at 2 and they were still cleaning when we came back at 4:30. I would not want to do that drive up the goat trail at night. 8AM is not convenient for a family in my opinion.

Breathtaking views, beautifully built home, amazing hosts!
I was looking for a place in the Uvita area to take my two sons 19 & 21 on a little pre-Christmas vacation.. I came across this beautiful home and the views of the playa ballena beach.
From the moment we connected with the owner, we felt welcome. Del’s home was absolutely beautiful.! He even helped us arrange pick up from the airport to his town and with all the things that made our trip so easy and wonderful. Caretakers, Alex and Stephanie were warm and welcoming as well. She is a wonderful cook! We had a fabulous meal the first night of our stay prepared by Estephany. The home is perfectly situated close to everything from Beaches to waterfalls, excellent restaurants, supermarkets and other tours. The drive to and from the property is exciting and absolutely beautiful especially for those with a sense of adventure.
The house is clean, tranquil, each room has a comfortable bed the views are stunning-it felt like home. Beautiful art all throughout and the swimming pool is perfect.
Del arranged a wonderful horseback tour to the Nuyaca Falls for us and a fishing Trip.
Alex helped me navigate the local area and the surf spots which were very close to the town.
It’s a perfect home for a family stay- my only regret is I wish we could stay another week!
We will be back soon!
💗Thank you so very much Del, Alex and Estephany For making this a most memorable trip!!

Excellent view of the “Whale’s Tale”!
Well up in the mountain, you have a great view of the Whale’s Tale. This is the best prt of it. The house is in the middle of great vegetation, a 15 minute drive from the main road through a dirt road which I actually enjoyed to drive (4x4 not strictly necessary but desirable). You wake up to multiple birds sounds, we saw many toucans. Nice pool, the house has a bit of wear and tear but nothing critical. The host was attentive although not needed, everything was in place. You stay here for the view and the surrounding vegetation.

Beautiful Vacation
We had an amazing time at Del Congos de Uvita. The house is beautiful and the surrounding nature is as well. Alex and Estephany were wonderful. They offered us privacy but also checked in just to make sure we were ok. We didn’t need a lot from them, but we knew they were there to help if needed. Truly wonderful people! Thank you so much for making our time so fantastic.

Loved this home
We just got back from a wonderful week in Uvita. We absolutely fell in love with Costa Rica and this was the perfect spot to spend a week with our family. We found this home worked perfectly for us. The pool was a huge hit with our kids (2, 5 and 9). The view was amazing and Stephanie and Alex were very helpful. We spent a lot of time around the beaches in Uvita and would recommend visiting all the various beaches in the area. We rented a 4X4 SUV in San Jose and spent a few days around Arenal volcano which was lovely. We were worried (based on the information prior to arriving) that our rental would give us trouble getting up to the property, however we had no issues at all. I would return to this spot/property in a heartbeat.

Staying at this rental is an unbelievable adventure !!
We marveled at how a contractor ever got up this mountainside to deliver the necessary components of the home. I can't see ordinary semis (like in the states) traveling up this road. It must have been quite a project in progress. It is a home in a beautiful setting with a lovely pool and impeccable management of the yard around it. The property manager (Alex) was attentive and many services were offered if you desired them. You do need a 4 wheel drive and the knowledge how to use it if you rent your own car. We rented a SUV and the first few times is an adventure that I've never encountered with any trips on my own 4x4 truck. I won't get into what the house could additionally use. Just realistically look at where it is perched in the mountains and marvel at what it is - not what it isn't. The owner is correct - it is a "million dollar view". I took some pictures from the Whales' Tail back up to where I spotted the house (still hard to believe it's up there).
We heard and saw toucans in the trees on and surrounding the house. You just need to be quiet and don't move much and you will spot them. Howler monkeys did indeed vocalize in the mornings and the neighbors below us said they got pictures of them during their stay. The owner made some good suggestions as to who to book excursions with and some interesting restaurants to visit. It was truly a vacation of a lifetime to stay here and another home we rented in Costa Rica !!

Great Uvita vacation
Del the owner made everything easy from start to finish. Communication was timely and renting his 4x4 was great, as it is definitely necessary to get around. He even made tour reservations for us at our request ahead of our trip! From zip lining, to Corcovado, to Nuyaca Waterfall all tours were outstanding. Everything about the house was first rate, from the million dollar view of the whale’s tail, to the beautiful pool. Best of all, Alex and Estafani catered to our every need, from daily laundry and cleaning to cooking us 2 wonderful Costa Rican dinners. All together a wonderful stay. Pura Vida!

Exactly What We Were Looking For
This house outside of Uvita is exactly as advertised.. It is out of the way and the drive is not too challenging if you have a good
4 - wheel drive vehicle. The interior is roomy and well furnished. The pool area and the view it provides is fantastic! The caretakers, Alex and Estephany were very friendly and helpful. The only minor negative we encountered was that the lighting in the bathrooms combined with the very small mirrors made it difficult for the ladies to do what the do. Over all our experience here was nothing but positive. Would we stay here again? We certainly would.

Amazing views.
This property is exactly as advertised. We were one couple coming to see what the rainy season in CR was really like.
This property was comfortable.
Alex and Estefani were very helpful in making us feel welcome and assisting for any reason.
For example, when we told Alex the toaster stopped working, there was a replacement by end of day.
In CR the power goes out frequently. We had candles and a BBQ to see where we were going and cook meals when that happened.
The kitchen was well appointed and stocked. There was optional wine for purchase if you don't make it into town.
The fridge has filtered water and ice.
The master ensuite was spacious with an amazing view and a balcony to sit out and watch and listen to the parrots, toucans, hawks, humming birds. An excellent birders experience. BTW we're not birders, but loved watching them all.
The flowers in the gardens were beautiful attracting all manner of wildlife.
Kudos to Alex for always being available with a great smile and willingness to help. He is truly an asset to your stay at this property.
There are many great things about this property that would require a great deal of space to mention.
Mostly, you're here in a comfortable place to enjoy the view.
Thankyou Del for sharing your home with us.
Lori and Thomas.
