We were visiting with our grands who were in a play in Nellysford. The home was just perfect!
Everything was clean and tidy. There were games and a very comfy Lazyboy that all enjoyed!
We were so busy, we hardly had time to enjoy the home.
Also, we were yards away from a beautiful walking trail.

Needed to stay close by to family and this had everything we needed. Lots of charm, great heat and hot water, awesome washer and dryer. Beds comfy, easy stay, just what we needed.

I don't know where to begin. This property exceeded my expectations. Not only was this the cleanest home we've stayed in but they went above and beyond on stocking the home with items that are needed that some may not remember to bring with them. From paper products and trash bags to laundry soap and shampoo. So extremely thoughtful! The home was exactly what we needed for our stay. The beds were comfortable, pillows could use replacing as they've lost their luster and support. We usually bring our own, hut due to leaving our 4 kids home with my mother we left our pillows for her to use while she babysat for the week.
The home was located in a perfect area for nearby hikes. I HIGHLY recommend the plunge, take the long way (brimstone trail to plunge trail) if you're wanting to experience a little begginer rock climbing. (My pregnant sister was able to climb without issues so it's not hard, just definitely wouldn't bring small kids on that part)
Overall this home was perfect and really made our getaway/3 year wedding anniversary relaxing and comfortable for the entire week. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and possibly will this winter for tubing with the kids. This was our first Wintergreen experience and I have no complaints.

Nice property but need to update listing.
This is a really nice property. We thought it to be spacious. We really enjoyed the well stocked kitchen but were very surprised at the size of the refrigerator. It was a small 60s style fridge. We had 3 coolers that we kept our food in for the week along with the jam packed fridge since it was so tiny. It is not the refrigerator shown in the listing.
The beds were comfortable along with the living room furniture.
We enjoyed the wraparound porch and rocking chairs.
Also there was no Foosball table on the porch as the listing shows.
In addition, there is no child's highchair as was listed.
You will need to get chairs from the bedrooms if you have more than 4 people that you want to have seated at the table at once.
We were misled initially by the listing. Although the property IS in the Wintergreen area, it is NOT part of the Wintergreen resort. Renters do not have access to the Wintergreen Resort perks.
Renters have access to 2 separate pools. We did not visit these pools but I would highly recommend visiting Sherando Lake.
Renter, be aware that this property is on the very top of the mountain that takes about 15 minutes to get to the top on a windy steep road. It has beautiful views on the way up the mountains but Def takes some practice shifting down and not riding the brakes on the way back down!
Overall it is a really great property in a very quiet community.

Cozy Cabin!
Lovely cabin with great access to beautiful views, fun hikes, and the brew ridge trail! The wood stove was a hit and much appreciated! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Great long weekend
Spacious! We loved having the room to spread out and enjoy the weekend. Loved the location-saw all sorts of wildlife. There were some annoyances (wifi didn't work and couldn't connect), but with everything else going on at Wintergreen, it wasn't a big deal.

Clean! Supplied with all you need
Had an excellent trip staying at this cabin. House was very clean and had everything we needed. Our primary contact and Evolve was very accommodating to our needs even with last minute asks. I would recommend this cabin to my family and friends!

Not a great place
The house was okay, the furnishings were dated, didn’t match ... the kitchen was dirty, although well appointed with equipment.. need a large pasta pot. Oven was not clean. Grill outside was basically disgusting.
There were things in the house that would easily and inexpensively replaced rather than leave in the house.
Need a guide for the TV.
We probably will not rent again...

The house/ linens were clean, location was lovely, and it served its purpose for a group of 5 ladies to get away for a weekend and there were plenty of beds, and mattresses were nice and firm. The wood stove was nice, and sliding glass doors were new. There is baseboard heat and a thermostat in each room. It was dated, but most Wintergreen houses are, but the house was clean. There was a small selection of games and DVDs, and it's easy enough to get to slopes, restaurants, and wineries nearby. We went in snow, so we didn't spend much time hiking or on the porches, but rather we stayed inside. The den area was a little smaller than I imagined, but the couch was comfy. The loveseat was uncomfortable, internet was slowish, and kitchen (fridge in particular) was an awkward space. There was no dish soap to wash dishes and only one hot-pad for the oven. Otherwise, well appointed, and the appliances worked well. We didn't use the gas grill, but they had plenty of propane ready for those who will. The gals who drank coffee said the coffee maker was very nice. Wintergreen resort didn't have a trash pickup (because of Bears, I think) so you have to go down to the resort Spa dumpsters to get rid of trash. This has nothing to do with the house itself, but is an issue you should be aware of if you stay at WG. Again, it was good, not amazing. The value was fair, and we enjoyed our time there. With good company, it was certainly worth doing again!

Very Nice little cabin.
The property was quite clean and the owner reached out to us in advance to let us know the ice maker was not working (which was not a big issue). The property is almost literally on the Appalachian Trail, so it was very easy to hike right from the house. The only shortcoming I noticed is that the internet connectivity is unbearably slow (I think that was the local cable system). We did the rental over a "working holiday" for me, and I could barely get my work done. Tried to do zoom meetings and had to turn off all video. That said, we really liked the place and will consider it for next year. If you enjoy convenient hiking, this is a great place! It is also convenient to the breweries, wineries, and cider houses on Nelson 151.

Great place to get away for our 25th Anniversary
This is a nice little cabin within the Wintergreen Resort. It is actually only about 50 yards from the AT. We went for hiking on the AT but actually spent more time on the spactacular hiking trails in the resort. The cabin has no AC but we had cooler weather. It was clean ( I wore white footies to keep my feet warm and they stayed pretty white). Would love to go back and try the skiing. The kitchen is well appointed with gear you need for cooking. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Avoid this home!!!
We arrived at the home and found it in a somewhat clean state; the house smelled bad, they painted and left the brush on the back deck, the towels and blankets have a moldy/humid smell, the kitchen drawers are dirty, there is no dishwashing sponge, the floors have black stains in various places, and to top things out there are mice in the house. Only some of the heating units work, lighting is poor, no provision for garbage (no tanks), no locks on the inner doors, the patio door is impossible to open and there is no A/C in the house.

A Great Setting
We (4) adults spent 3 nights at this home set in a beautiful wooded mountain setting. Although it wasn't cold enough to use the woodstove with outside temps in the 40s at night, we were very comfortable with only a few of the electric baseboard heaters on. The house was tight and cozy.
The towels were very nice, thick and soft and there were more than enough available. Most of the other basics were also provided (hand soap, paper towels etc.)
The beds we used (queen and king) were comfortable, if a bit soft for our personal tastes.
We enjoy cooking and found the quality of the cookware and variety of pans more than adequate. The appliances were also very nice and worked well. Having the use of the large propane grill was great too!

Great stay!
We just stayed at this property at the end of June 2019. It has been recently renovated with new windows and sliding doors. I wasn't sure what to expect given some of the older reviews but we found the home to be clean, airy, and very comfortable. We used the gas grill three times and did some other light cooking in the kitchen without any problems. We also did laundry and the washer/dryer worked well and was quiet. The setting of the house is serene and beautiful. We enjoyed eating meals on the back deck as well.
Another review said the house smelled strongly of wood smoke. We noticed a very slight (nice!) wood smell when we got there but it wasn't overwhelming and since the house is heated with a wood stove it should be expected.
The setting is accurate as described. We walked out of the front door, turned left walking 20 yards down the street, and were able to pick up a short trail leading to the Appalachian Trail. There are many other beautiful hikes on the wintergreen property as well. We would rent this house again if we decide to return to Wintergreen.
If you plan on using any of the Wintergreen kids activities, double check with Wintergreen itself that they are open. We had a Monday - Friday stay and none of the kids activities like bungee trampoline, zip line, mini golf, etc. were open until Thursday afternoon.
All in all a really relaxing stay! We recommend Devil's Backbone brewery for dinner. We also went to the Rhodes pool which was fine as well. Thanks for a great vacation!

It was ok
The door knob for the exterior door was broken on the inside, it was falling off so it made it difficult to exit the house because the door stuck so badly. The back door stuck really badly too and the screen door was broken. The kitchen was updated with plenty of dishes and glasses and utensils, nice countertops. The downstairs bathroom for the kids was updated but the upstairs bathroom for the master was terrible. The sink was so low, I needed to basically be on my knees to use it. There was only the one plastic shower curtain in each of the tubs, not an interior liner and exterior curtain. The drapes in the master were badly stained. The blinds in the family room were ripped. The carpet was very low grade, it was like indoor outdoor carpet, and there was carpet in the master bathroom which I thought was strange. Needs a bit of updating and TLC. The price was right for what we got.

Dirty, smokey, falsely advertised.
Stains on all the carpets. Smells like smoke. Don’t stay here if you have allergies of any kind. Generally unclean and uncomfortable. Only sleeps 8 if you have tiny children who can share a double bed in the same room with the bunk beds. Falsely advertised from the start. Steer clear of this one.

Nice and cozy.
My family and I enjoyed staying in this cabin. It was just right and cozy. Although there were a few minor things that didn't work, (remote for fans) and some upgrades throughout the cabin, everything else was great. The only thing that would have made it perfect is if had snowed. My grandson was so looking forward in snow tubing.

Overall good experience...but
The front door wouldn’t lock because the dead bolt didn’t line up with the metal insert on the door frame...looks like it’s been that way a while. Also one of the side window frames is rotted and also looks like it’s been that way a while...had to close the window from the outside (both security issues). I would rent again but not the same house...would also like a fire place.

Adorable, cozy cabin in gorgeous location
We loved our stay in the cozy comfort of this beautiful cabin. It was the perfect size for our families to meet - a drive just a little over five hours for each family. We especially enjoyed the spacious deck. We were hoping to catch a glimpse of a bear (at a distance) but did not! Maybe next time - we do hope hope to visit again. Lovely area and friendly folks! This is our second rental through VRBO and we have always been pleased.

My brother and I chose Wintergreen for a quick summer getaway weekend. Coming from different cities, it was equidistant for both of our families. The house fit two adult couples and three children (1, 5, & 9) perfectly, and everyone had enough communal and personal space to relax.
The house was as advertised. While there was no A/C, the mountain breeze through the multiple screen windows and the ceiling fans kept the temperature comfortable inside day and night, and contributed to the rustic, off-the-grid feel of being in the mountains. We grilled out both nights and had no problems with the grill or any of the appliances.We used tennis and pool facilities with ease, and there was a connecting spur to the Appalachian Trail steps away from the house, so we were able to take a short hike to a beautiful lookout of the Valley below us.
Only things that kept us from a 5-star review - some of the windows were not operable, which did limit the amount of cross-draft we could get in the house; and in one-place on the listing it could be inferred that the hot tub is on the house property, where on another portion of the rental page, it makes mention of the fact that the hot tub is in fact communal and not on the property. Those were very minor issues for us though, and I think we would have no reservations coming back to stay for another weekend or longer.
