Bluff House was ideal for our small family reunion. Very clean and orderly. Spectacular views and location. Convenient to all that the Mendocino Coast has to offer, indoors and outdoors. Cottage was fully-equipped and separate but not cozy. We left a list of maintenance issues with management.

We have stayed at the Bluff house a few times now and we returned again for our anniversary. Great spot, clean house. The only bummer was the hot tub was not working and couldn't be repaired on our stay. Management should always check to make certain it works before arrivals.

Our ocean front view was incredible. We had four days of perfect weather and we’re able to open all the windows and enjoy the soft breeze while watching the sea birds gliding by the living room windows. It was very relaxing. Overall we were happy with our stay, but there were a few things that could be improved. The upstairs bedroom was very hot and stuffy when we arrived. We opened the window and turned on a floor fan, but it took hours before the room became somewhat comfortable. The locks on the doors could use some maintenance. Could have used a few more items in the kitchen, there were only 2 teaspoons and the non-stick fry pans needed to be replaced, there were no bowls for cereal or ice cream. The cottage out back was very cute and comfortable. The location of the house in relation to town was great.

Excellent location. Comfortable and clean but lacking in some amenities such as adequate glasses, dishwater, dining chairs with paltry soap in the bathrooms. The place is stocked for 5 people but we had six because we had both units. We did not suffer but just had to scramble a few times.The wifi is inconsistent but that may be because of the area although the router had to be re booted many times.Overall, it is a great place and those few issues would not prevent me from renting again.

We had an excellent two day visit at the Bluff home. The home has an outstanding full view of the beautiful pacific. The living room furniture was very comfortable with great views. Be aware that the second bath is next to the laundry room and the second floor bedroom has no bath.We did rent the detached cottage and there were some issues but the staff at Mendocino Preferred Properties fully resolved the problems.We will definitely return.

Exactly what the Dr. Ordered--Seclusion and a 180 Degree view of the beautiful Mendocino Coast! The house was clean and well appointed.Almost walking distance to downtown Mendocino.Whales were migrating north and spouts were frequent if you know what to look for.We will be back.

We have rented this property for several years and this time we also rented the cottage which is part of the property. Probably will not rent the cottage again as it was infested with ants, the heater did not work in the bathroom, and the portable heater that was brought to us tripped the circuit breaker! The rental agent did good to have the maintenance person try to address the problems but for the several hundred dollars it cost extra for the cottage it is not worth it.

2. TV/DVD etc. were unable to navigate. I checked with the office staff. No one is available to help. Some IT person in the community should be on a retainer to trouble shoot such basic problems.
3. A few light bulbs were burnt out. Housekeeping should check this after guests leave and replace.
4. Need a large teapot in kitchen.
5. Would be nice to have a simple vacuum cleaner to clean up dog-shedding, etc. for long stay guests.
6. A carafe coffee maker in the kitchen to make 12 cups at a time.
7. Blanket under bed spread in main bedroom should be replaced. Its cheap, motel-style is inappropriate for a high end rental.

The view from Bluff House is incomparable. The house itself is in need of some attention. We had to kill or sweep up bugs and spiders throughout the house. The refrigerator has crisper bens off their tracks and the handle on the freezer comes off easily.The house shouldn't be advertised with WiFi as it barely works if at all. The light fixture above the vanity in the master bathroom had 1 of the 3 lights that flickered off and on so we had to unscrew it and the faucet control knob cap won't stay on. The tv in the cottage wouldn't turn off the lat night we were there so we had to leave it on when we left the following morning. The door to the master needs repair so it will stay closed. The toilet flush chain in the house spare bathroom broke and had to be replaced. The kitchen sink fixtures are loose and need to be tightened to the counter top. It was somewhat clean when we arrived but when we swept there was a lot of dog hair. I will give Mendocino Preferred some credit for getting a plumber out quickly to fix the toilet and attempting to provide a solution for the internet. It's not worth the amount being asked to stay here. I give it a 3 only because of the view. I would recommend staying here if theses things are taken care of.

Property ran out of water on the morning of the fourth day!! Rental office could not be reached for an hour to report problem. Once notified there seamed to be no since of urgency to get a plumber out to restore water. Was told would try and get someone there in the afternoon and it was only 10 a.m. we left a day early due to no water which spoiled our plans for the day including dinner reservations!

It is called the Bluff House for a reason. It has a commanding view of the ocean and bonus is that there are no houses on either side (just behind it across the street). There is an old gazebo at the edge of the property with an excellent view of the adjacent coves and could see out across the headlands park.
The house itself was very quiet save for the sounds of the ocean.
The location is very close to downtown, so all of the restaurants, coffee and the market are a short drive to get what you need.
My family slept comfortably in the house and the cottage. The beds were comfortable. The gas fireplace was nice to ward off the morning chill. The kitchen had everything we needed during our stay.
If you are cooking at the house, be sure to bring all the ingredients that you need as the kitchen has very minimal extras. They are upfront about this in the description.
The management company was very communicative before and during the trip. I especially appreciated the extra touches they provided when we checked in.
It was overall a wonderful house and would definitely stay here again.

We have stayed at Bluff House many times. It has always been a delight. The house is clean. The management team is professional. We can’t say enough about this gorgeous home. One could sit on the couch all day and stare at the ocean and be completely satisfied. The beds are fabulously comfortable. The only thing I would change is the use of for fabreeze or something similar to clean the living room rug and line the kitchen trash cans. I am highly sensitive to all chemicals, So we just placed the trash cans in the sunroom and eventually the carpet dissipates. It takes a couple of days for the carpet to dissipate.
Also, I have been booking with Mendocino Preferred for close to 20 years. If you want a house on the coast to rent, these are the people to contact.
