Beautiful Beach House on Lake Champlain
La casa, con 5 camere da letto, due bagni completi e una grande spiaggia sabbiosa privata si trova a 5 minuti a piedi dal centro di Westport. The exceptional views, warm fireplace, and spacious living and kitchen made our family gathering most enjoyable. The location allowed us to easily walk into town as well.

House 5*: The lakehouse truly is a "gem", as other reviews mentioned, both comfortable & historic...excellent location for leaf-peeping & exploring E Adirondacks & VT, scenic water/mountain views with gorgeous sunrise, cozy & charming (like Grandma's!), spacious (all 7 of us had our own bed), assessable master & large well-equipped kitchen big plusses. Many pantry items furnished, along with soaps, paper goods, first aid supplies.
Housekeeping 1*: First impression not great...house number covered by bush so unsure we were at right house...entering, we were greeted by so many mosquitos & spiders (& other bugs & nests), cobwebs in every room & on ceilings, dust behind beds & furniture, etc, so before unpacking, we armed with brooms & flyswats to bug kill & cobweb clear just to be able to sleep! Next morning we discovered a really dirty oven, a floor that didn’t meet our standards with kibble, cobwebs & dust, so before preparing breakfast we mopped the kitchen & wiped everything down. (Never had to do that at a VRBO!) Linens clean but 2 threadbare topsheets tore when 2 of my roommates merely turned over, then 1st chair we pulled out at (living room) table was broken. (Beware: no handrail & steep steps down to basement w/d.)
And, I didn’t want to write any of that because I’ve never given anything but a stellar review in all my many years of vacation renting, but suspect Robby is an absent landlord & his standards are not reflected in what we found & experienced!

this camp is lovely. very positive vibes! the surrounding area had just enough restaurants and shops to keep me entertained while staying "home" was a delight as well. having my dog with me was the cherry on top. please note steps to lake are a challenge and the shower on the first floor cannot be relied upon for hot water. everything else was great!!!!

We had a great time staying in this very comfortable house overlooking Lake Champlain. With easy access to the lake and a short walk into town, as well as the nearby Adirondack Mountains, it was a perfect rental for our family.

The property was all it was supposed to be and more. We had a few rainy days and there was enough room (inside & out) to allow everyone some quiet space. This was our first time here and we've already reserved a week next year. The downstairs bedroom and wheelchair accessible shower were a gift. Overall, this was a 5-star gem.

Perfect location for proximity to town, summer music, kayak rental, fireworks! Lovely lake view from porch and living room and nice private sandy beach. Home is charming, very interesting library. We enjoyed our stay (and our lab really enjoyed fetch in the lake!).

No key to lock the house while away, host says house hasn't been locked since 1947. We had valuable items with us that could not be secured while away from the house. Not locking the house is ok if it's your residence but should be required when renting the house.

Wonderful well appointed house sitting on a gorgeous piece of property w/ private beach on Lake Champlain. Fully equipped with everything a renter would want. This is a perfect place to rent regardless of the season - any day, all day, the views are divine. I highly recommend this rental property. Given all the positive attributes of this house & property you will immediately feel right at home. In addition, Robby Barnett is a very responsive & accommodating host. It was an all around very pleasant experience.

This was our second year staying here, and the experience was just as dreamy as the first. Great place to escape for a week. Many hours spent on the lake and gazing at it from the deck and house.

Our family has rented this property several times, and we have thoroughly enjoyed each visit in the quiet neighborhood. The home is always very clean, just "lived in" enough to be comfortable, and has beautiful views from the lakeside windows. The property is always well-maintained, with a large, shaded front yard and a roomy back yard as well. The front porch, partly covered, is a perfect place for family meals. The private, sandy beach is perfect place to relax (and, for the younger ones, to build sand castles and look for lake glass.) There are 30 steps from the front lawn down to the beach, which adds to the privacy, but if stairs are difficult, that would be something to consider. All in all, a wonderful place to stay!

Stunning home and location
The home is beautiful and spacious and has a relaxed feeling about it. It’s older with lots of character. The kitchen is well equipped— we cooked and grilled and found everything we needed. There are views of beautiful lake Champlain from just about every room in the house and the sandy beach was perfect for relaxation. Would certainly stay there again.

Comfortable, spacious home in an amazing spot right on Lake Champlain. Lots of character and great for kids. Was great for a winter getaway and would be absolutely perfect for warmer months.

Neat house, not very clean.
Living in a 100 year old home, I'm used to old house quirks. But the musty smell of this house bothered my allergies and it was not up to my standards of cleanliness. We ended up leaving 2 days early.

It's a charming town. And a lovely house.
This is an absolutely gorgeous property. It is an old-ish house, so it has some character. It is well maintained and lends itself to a very comfortable stay.
Everyone had a lovely time.

Beautiful View
The house was amazing...old but very interesting. A former family member had been an editor at Life Magazine. He had an incredible library that fascinated us!
However, the house was a bit neglected-looking and needed some repairs...but mostly needed a really good cleaning and better towels snd more of them.

Great family time.
The property was perfect and the lake perfect. The house was quaint and cozy. My only suggestion would be to update the linens, replace the mattress’s and give each person two new towels each not just one old one. One towel for a full week is not enough. Also the screens need to be replaced, the bugs and moths at night inside the house were relentless. In spite of these few things we loved our stay. If you are looking for a serene, peaceful get away it was perfect. We grilled every night, swam in the lake everyday and enjoyed wonderful family time. Robby was very responsive. My suggestions above would make everything exceptional.

The perfect spot on Lake Champlain
We had a fun family gathering here. Quick access to the water with stairs down to the sandy beach, and beautiful views from the deck and windows throughout the house. Plenty of indoor space to play games with the crowd or find a quiet nook to read. And the location can't be beat: on a quiet road but walking distance into town and a short drive to the high peaks. We would certainly stay here again!

On the lake
The property was lovely with beautiful lake views. We really enjoyed the patio snd back yard. It was also a pleasant surprise to have a Sandy Beach! Wheelchair accessibility was spot on with no issues.

Beautiful lakefront location!
We had a wonderful winter get away at this house. The full rear lake view, sound of the birds, binoculars and books were great features. There were so many hiking trails in easy driving distance, and Nordic skiing and other winter activities within an hour. It was an especially comfortable house for our two dogs. Would stay here again happily!!

Loved this lakeside retreat
I always love being able to find a dog friendly rental. We watched the ducks on the lake every morning and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere!

Wonderful house on the lake!
We had a great stay in Westport! The house has beautiful views of Lake Champlain, a great private beach, a lovely yard, and the house itself is cute and well-stocked. We were able to work remotely with the WiFi, and loved waking up to the cool mountain air every morning. We watched the moonrise over the lake every evening. The house is also walkable to two restaurants, a coffee shop, kayak rentals and other things in town. We also drove 15 min to a great hiking trail and 20 min to a ferry across the lake to VT. Highly recommend!!

Charming lakeside cottage in Westport
As you drive down the local road to the property, you see the shimmering water of Lake Champlain in front of you. This charming cottage has been in the family for some time, evident by reviewing the family history in the small library off the living area. Interesting pieces of artwork adorn the walls, a story to be told on each piece you set your eyes upon.
The greatest masterpiece is the pallet of Lake Champlain before you, delighting your senses at every point of view.
As with any lakefront home, you want to spend most of your time outside. Ample outdoor seating areas are available on the deck, the lawn and beautiful beach area.
This rental provides plenty of sleeping space, with one double bed upstairs; the remaining bedrooms have twin beds. There is a master suite on the first floor, with two twin beds.
Having family in Westport, I am very familiar with the town and area. This is a fantastic piece of the Adirondacks, with Vermont a short car ride or ferry ride away.
The home is well-worn however that lends to its charm. If you want to experience the Adirondacks from a centrally-located, generations-old cottage, this is the place for you.

Great Lake Experience
Our family group really enjoyed our time here.
Charming, roomy, airy with great lake views from all over house.. Quiet area. Fairly good access to lake-steep stairs that might be a little challenging for very young, very old or less mobile, but nice sand beach a real plus on relatively protected Westport Bay.
Issues were minor with some out of control of owner.
Upstairs bedrooms were hot, but it was an unusually hot, humid stretch for Adirondacks at night which usually cools off more.
Might consider small air conditioners in upper bedrooms for those nights it's still, hot and hard to sleep. Some beds themselves not great, uncomfortable.
House was not all that clean when we moved in, so we cleaned up a bit ourselves right off. Grill was filthy and unusable until scoured out well.
The positives way outweigh the negatives with this charming, old school, Adirondack Lake home (and it's a great area-admittedly I'm predjudiced since I grew up 10 miles away). We would definitely consider renting this again!

Beautiful weather, lovely property and village
Our family rented this property for Canadian Thanksgiving. The local real estate agent whose firm looks after the property, was very communicative and charming. The house is lovely, spacious and warm, and with a wonderful library. The leaves had begun turning colors, and the weather was wonderful. We enjoyed bonfires at the beach, hiking around town, and a visit to Fort Ticonderoga.
