We were looking for a reasonably priced house with some winter cabin character for 5 kids and 5 adults. This house met our needs well and had a very nice set-up and floor plan for a reasonable price. With the very steep and long driveway, the recommendation for an AWD/4X4 vehicle should be taken very seriously in the winter months.

Great place. Great spaces. Got hit with large snowfall and guys showed up to plow without us needing to ask. We planned on a relaxing, laid back few days and we got it.
Would recommend bringing your streaming passwords or your own device since their Xfinity cable is only SD.

The family get together was a success! The property and location ideal for guests from WV and Northern VA. Spacious kitchen and dining area.
My only suggestions are the following: the kitchen could use two newer medium to large skillets and a new griddle.
For the property managers, I would have liked more than two trash bags. Also, there was no hand soap in the bathrooms. If you stay on the property, bring tinfoil, plastic wrap, ziplocks, hand soap, and few large trash bags.
Again, nice property and my family had a wonderful visit.

Great place to stay with the family for a few days. A couple things I would change. The fire pit in the backyard is almost impossible to sit around since the property is on a steep hill. It would be nice if there were more couches in the basement for more people to relax. But overall great experience. Located just off the water and in the middle of everything. We had a lot of fun.

The house was beautiful. The intererior very clean. The exterior just needs someone to come and power wash and get cob webs off in corners etc. The beds were comfy. The downstairs area with pool table and bar was awesome. We called when we got there because our hot tub was clear but had a greenish tint. With ur 20 minutes they came and fixed it. We ran needed gas for the grill the second day and they came in about an an hour after we called We suggest bringing gallons of bottled water. The water is is not too tasty from faucet and the filtered water in the fridge is slow. I think it may be well water or minerals in it. The property is close to a road that is fairly busy. So we could hear that when outside. Super close to the state beach and dutches at silver tree/ harbor bar was amazing!uts an out door restaurant that had a playground for the kids and u could bring dogs. ❤️ amazing food and beverages !

My family and I enjoyed our summer time stay at Red Moose Lodge. The house was clean and the kitchen had everything you needed to prepare nice meals. Loved the large kitchen dining table. The bedrooms were roomy and comfortable; however, they did not have dresser draws for unpacking your clothes. On the other hand, the bedroom closets were large.
The basement was great; large roomy wet bar with mini refridgerater, and a pool table. The pool table needs care, the felt is almost thread bare and the bumper on one side was rock hard. Outside the deck was nice and roomy. Through the leaves you can see a little bit of the lake. The hot tub worked well, it was clean, and we enjoyed it.
Getting to nearby attractions, restaurants, and bars was a bit inconvenient due to road construction. Without the detour the home is located in a convenient spot.
All and all the home is nice, and comfortable. My family enjoyed their stay.
ONE LAST IMPORTANT ITEM: We found and rented the house through VRBO; however, we were charged twice for the convenience of that find. (I missed this fact after it was too late.) One fee by VRBO for approximately $450 and a second Admin fee by Railey of $250. Total fee approximately $700. Unfair and a rip-off. It would be great to have that second fee refunded. Thank you.

This is a rustic home with high ceilings and great windows to take in the scenery. Beautiful view of the lake. We went in the winter and the indoor temps greatly varied: basement-ice cold, main floor-cool, and top level was extremely warm. There was a space heater provided for the basement which really helped. All appliances we tried worked and the house was very clean and well stocked.

Even with pictures it's sometimes hard to determine exactly what you will get with a rental property, but we were very happy with it! None of the pictures show that you can actually see the lake from the cabin - depending on the season, I assume (we were there in early Spring before the leaves filled out on the trees). This cabin is literally 3 lots down from the community basketball hoop, which we took advantage of the day we arrived. The hot tub was excellent, billiards was fun, the entire experience from relaxing on the property to the Honi Honi Bar about 5 minutes away was tremendous!
We would definitely stay there again!

Even with pictures it's sometimes hard to determine exactly what you will get with a rental property, but we were very happy with it! None of the pictures show that you can actually see the lake from the cabin - depending on the season, I assume (we were there in early Spring before the leaves filled out on the trees). This cabin is literally 3 lots down from the community basketball hoop, which we took advantage of the day we arrived. The hot tub was excellent, billiards was fun, the entire experience from relaxing on the property to the Honi Honi Bar about 5 minutes away was tremendous!
We would definitely stay there again!

Bowls had dirt rings in them. Food crumbs on counters, hair in jacuzzi tub and drain filled with hair and on bathroom floors. I took a wet rag to the jacuzzi tub and it had a lot of black on it the lights in the hot tub were broke. The grill was so nasty we couldn’t even cook on it.
But other than that, the place was beautiful. Looked just like the pics. Beautiful decor, convenient area. Perfect for family gatherings!

We had a great few days relaxing at Red Moose House. We went for a hike, soaked in the hot tub, played pool and games. The house needs some general maintenance, but other than that, it is a lovely vacation destination.

The pictures don't do this property justice. Its even bigger than the photos show. A group of 6 adults and 4 kids were very comfortable; lots of space to eat or play games or watch movies. Would 100% book again

We had a really incredible time staying at Red Moose Lodge. The owners are really dedicated to the moose theme, which was cute and fun. My kids loved the stuffed mooses (meese?) and other little details. The house is very spacious and was quite clean. We made good use of the hot tub, which is large and easy to operate. You can’t really walk anywhere, but we knew that from the listing so that wasn’t an issue. Everything we wanted to drive to was extremely close and convenient. While we were visiting, we rented a boat on the lake, used the CARC passes to swim at the pool, visited the beach on the lake, and spent a day trying out the various playgrounds at the state park. Our only real complaint was that there was some issue with the smart tv in the living room where it wouldn’t connect to the internet, so we couldn’t use any of those features, and the remote for that dvd player was nowhere to be found, so it was live tv or nothing (which is a bigger issue than it sounds when you have small kids who don’t have anything but streaming options at home). But since there were other tvs in the house and we were busy, we didn’t call to complain about it, and I’m sure that’s an easy fix for the owners. Thanks for a great stay!
