This was the second time we have stayed there for a nearby family reunion, and we will be back! It's a lovely house on a hill with a great view of the sunset. Nice for a group, with its four double or queen beds. Outdoor grill, firepit and picnic table are a plus.

This is indeed a very large, extremely well equipped, comfortable home with an attentive host in an isolated area surrounded by meadows and forest. The home, the linen the towels, etc. were all very clean. Everyone in our group loved this charming home and we would definitely stay there again.

We had a really had a wonderful stay at this amazing mountain top house near South Ryegate, Vermont. This spot is quite hospitable for multiple families/family members as some of the spacious guest rooms have ensuite bathrooms. A relaxing combination of comfortable furnishings, charming antiques, a nice assortment of games and puzzles, and a well-appointed kitchen paired with surrounding grounds perfect for experienceing the serene beauty of the Vermont/New Hampshire border area. Heartily recommend and look forward to returning one day.

We had a family weekend at Virgil's property. The check-in process couldn't have been easier: Door is open, let yourselves in. The property is located outside of the beaten path and has beautiful views. It's well furnished, comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed (minus a whisk). I'd highly recommend it.

We had a beautiful weekend enjoying the Vermont mountains! The cabin was beautiful, the kitchen was well-stocked, and we had so much space to enjoy. Would definitely recommend!

We spent a wonderful Christmas week at this lovely home. The house is a perfect blend of cozy and contemporary, with comfortable bedding and towels, a kitchen that allowed us to cook a full holiday meal, and plenty of room for our family of two adults and three college kids to spread out and have our own spaces for reading and relaxing. The property is amazingly quiet and private, yet very convenient to the interstate. We were so excited to find such a perfect vacation spot for our family, and we can't wait to return soon!

If your idea of a nice vacation is serenity and relaxation, this farmhouse is amazing. Watching the sunset from the back porch, with the deer grazing in front of you made for amazing evenings. The owner and caretaker were great to work with. We will be returning.

Their property is beautiful and very inviting to stroll around with our dog. The inside was very comfortable and charming. We would like to return one day.

Sprawling country house located on 65 very private acres. We found the stay tremendously relaxing and enjoyed the many amenities on the property, such as the jacuzzi. One small knock is the lack of water pressure and hot water in the two ensuite bathrooms. This led to long and somewhat chilly showers for me, while my 2 other family members opted to use the bathroom next to the kitchen, where the water pressure was better.

This house is located in a quiet area with pretty views and was clean and well stocked; however, there were several issues we experienced. 1. The hot tub was 82 degrees when we arrived and when we reached out to the owner he said it was broken and needed a part, which was news to us, and we would not be able to use it for the week. We were very disappointed by this because this was a significant reason we chose his property. The cleaning staff informed us to turn on the pumps to see if that would help and then the hot tub reached a comfortable temperature on our fourth day there so we were able to use it for 3 days out of 7. Also, the property owner got aggravated we turned the temperature up after it finally got above 90 on the fourth day. If he does not want guests to turn up the temperature he should have directions on how to use the hot tub posted. He did have directions for the kitchen sink and bathrooms. 2. The water pressure was very low throughout the house making it difficult to wash dishes properly and enjoy a decent shower. 3. There were wet towels left in the washer and sheets in the dryer. The owner called the cleaning staff to take care of this but this was inconvenient we couldn’t use the washer until she came.

Beautiful grounds, thoughtful, kind and helpful hosts.
Very convenient location, but very peaceful. The house was decorated adorably, with everything we could possibly need and more! I hope to come back for many years to come.

Had a great time with our teenagers at Virgil's property. It was quiet and peaceful, and the house had everything we needed. Extremely clean and comfortable with one-of-a-kind construction.

Absolutely everything you would ever need, beautiful home and beautiful property. Dan and Virgil were very helpful, and were quick to answer. The streaming options were a little odd, a lot of things were not signed in, but with all the amenities, and sights to see nearby, the last thing you would be thinking about is television.

We were very pleased with our stay at “Once in a Blue Moon” home! We had rainy weather on and off but this property was very comfortable and well stocked. We were able to totally relax inside. Except for the crazy thunderstorm on our last night!! 4th of July fireworks from above. 😂

Had a wonderful time in a lovely home. Tucked away in Vermont in a secluded setting but not to far from modern conveniences. Would def recommend this place for families wanted to get away from dodge. Thanks for letting us share in you wonderful home.

Lovely property with amazing views. Other commentors mentioned spotty WiFi but we had no issues. Verizon cell service was non existent though.

Our stay at Once in a Blue Moon was incredible! We got a snowy, wintry weekend, and the house was so cozy and so private-our group and our dogs absolutely loved it! It was the recharging time we needed, and we couldn’t have been more impressed!

Very charming and comfortable. The wood burning stove was easy to use and looked and felt great with plenty of wood to burn. The master suite was a plus with a gas stove which gave such a warm, cozy feel. The kitchen was fully equipped and easy and inviting to use. Many hors games and comfortable sitting areas. Hiking outdoors was a plus with our family dog.

A few friends and I stayed at this property to celebrate one of our birthdays, and it was such a wonderful time! The property is so unique and cozy, with tons of space for us to spread out. The kitchen was super well stocked, which was awesome since we love to cook! We'd definitely come back again in the future!

The property is unique and beautiful. It felt like we were experiencing real VT. The surrounding area is so pretty and remote. It was exactly what we were looking for to enjoy the Christmas holiday with our family. Dan had cut a tree for us which was so thoughtful. We thoroughly enjoyed decorating and sitting next to the tree with the family unwrapping gifts. Fireplace and wood-burning stove made the space super cozy. Special bonus was how comfortable the master suite bed is.. and how lovely it is to have the hot tub right outside the door. The owner Virgil and the property manager Dan were super helpful and very responsive whenever we had questions/needed assistance. Recommend booking if you are looking for a "real VT" experience.

We had an amazing few days in Ryegate, a really peak fall weekend, with sunny days and beautiful sunsets from the deck. It was our second visit and our little kids loved playing in the yard and exploring the grounds. We did a great hike in Peacham called Devil's Hill which was perfect for our 4 yr old. Can't wait for our next visit!

Really a unique property, with stunning views, especially at sunset. We visited right at the tail end of the peak foliage in October, and had a great week of weather. Our family of four spent our days hiking or visiting nearby attractions. Groton State Forest has a great rail trail and plenty of trails to hike. We also drove north to the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium, which was a neat visit. On the property, we were visited by three deer almost every day, and spent the night in the hot tub checking out the stars. Inside the home is split into a few different levels, with no real large central area. Virgil was available by text when we had a few questions, and Dan the caretaker who stays above the garage helped us out as well. We were overrun by ladybugs on a number of the warm days we had, so I certainly vacuumed a lot more than I'd like on a vacation! Virgil did offer to send over the cleaners for an extra visit, but we missed out due to some miscommunication. It was great to bring our dog along, who hiked all day and slept all night. Overall it was a great visit.

Really such a fabulous property. Secluded, beautiful, and completely encumbered by nature. An amazing get away place. The property is beautiful, the hot tub is great, the host is helpful and responsive. The pictures don’t do it justice.

We enjoyed our time at the property. The kitchen and bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner when we arrived but the home was fairly well stocked.
The home owner was very responsive but it would have helpful to have a guide to common questions - how to start the propane fire pit, outdoor shower use, and other quirks of the home as well as particularly good hikes or things to explore in the area.
The weather was fairly warm during our stay and we had a couple of hot days when we couldn’t adequately cool the house down until evening. The setting is lovely and quiet.
We had no cell or GPS service through Verizon in the area - so bring maps!

Wonderful, isolated property - beautiful views
We spent a long weekend and arrived just before a snow storm waking up to 12 inches of powder. The property is huge, with amazing views from all sides, and we spent two days sledding and hiking through the snow without needing to drive anywhere. It's a perfect place if you're looking to get some isolation and some relaxation.

Wonderful respite
What a great spot on the hill! We stayed over a February cold spell, and enjoyed the warming wood stove, soothing hot tub, and quiet solitude. Very well equipped- everything we needed was there, so we were able to enjoy the wide open space without trekking out to the market. Reading the guest book, this place is loved by many, and we can see why. Thanks so much for having us!

Serenity!
This was the quiet, serene getaway we were hoping for! You'll definitely want to be someone who appreciates nature and being outside the hustle and bustle. The location is easy to find via GPS, but definitely in the middle of the farming district. It was exactly the setting we were hoping for. The views were incredible, the house was cozy and well stocked. We had some nice long walks down the beautiful dirt road and throughout the property. Neighbors are around, but not too close, leaving you the privacy you're hoping for.
The hosts were gracious enough to meet us at the property to give us the lay of the land before leaving us to enjoy the weekend. It was spectacular!

Amazing Fall Weekend!
This property was ideal for a long-weekend getaway for a group of friends! Virgil was so communicative and helpful with how to get to the property and supportive to all our questions. We spent the time checking out the changing leaves, playing games in the beautiful house, and hanging out on the spacious deck. The house was incredible and so relaxing. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a weekend getaway or a family vacation in a secluded area. We look forward to booking again in the future!
