Loved the location and the cottage. Close to the shore of Lake Michigan and great hostess. We were there with our two dogs, who enjoyed the beach and fresh water. The stairs to the beach were a bit steep, but with care getting to the beach was worth it (I've had an ankle injury recently that made walking a bit wobbly). The weather went from hot to cool and we were able to eat outside or inside.

Great time on big beach ...20 steps down to sandy beach fun! Debra was lovely and provides all beach toys for your access.

This was such a perfect place for our family (husband and I, our 3 year old and 1 year plus our dog!)! Can't beat the location - right on the beach and Debra had so many beach toys, chairs, umbrellas that we used! My 3 year old loved the toys! Beach was fabulous- away from the crowds we had our own little piece of paradise! We biked around Indiana Dunes and hiked some of the many trails at Indiana Dunes. Check-in and check-out was so slick and Debra was just a fabulous host- being flexible with us and very responsive to our questions. Beds were comfortable as well! It was the perfect place to stay - we can't wait to go back to our "little vacation house" as my son called it!

This was the perfect beach cottage for me, my husband and our nine year old granddaughter (who spent the majority of her waking hours in the lake).
The cottage was very clean, well cared for and had everything needed to fully enjoy our stay both indoors and out.
The view of the lake was absolutely amazing, the white sand beach was private and quiet. And yet, if was a short walk to the Indiana Dunes State Park.
The owner, Deb, lives next door and was an outstanding hostess. She and her husband were very friendly and were there if we had questions or needed anything.
It was truly a wonderful vacation and we hope to return next summer.

We absolutely loved our stay here! It is an amazing location with easy access to the beach and Debra couldn't have been more accommodating! We very much appreciated her hospitality!
We were traveling with our 5 and 8 year olds and there were plenty of toys and other fun water activities. It was also nice to already have a table and chairs setup on the beach. 1000% recommend!

Wonderful stay! Very clean and cute cottage on a beautiful stretch of Lake Michigan. Location is ideal for enjoying the Indiana Dunes State Park, relaxing on the white sand beach and enjoying the local area!

This is a piece of heaven, Deb and her husband the owners, are very private they live next-door. They’re there if you need anything. Parking is tight. There’s everything you could ask for. Beach toys, floats, kayaks, paddle-boards. Beach is private and quiet. very clean. no loud neighbors. we will definitely be back. Thank you for everything.

Owner was great to deal with. Cottage was very quaint, clean and well stocked, and beds were very comfortable. Lake view was great as were sunsets nightly.

Our family had a fun and peaceful week at Porter Beach in this quaint and cozy cottage!! We used the kayaks, had a campfire on the beach, and spent lazy days reading and hanging out on the beach. The cottage was super clean and has lots of amenities...beach towels, blankets, jackets, well-stocked kitchen, firewood, etc. The owner, Deb, is very easy to work with and so helpful! We loved the cottage and plan to return in the future.

The property had a great view of the lake from almost all the windows. The sleeping porch beds were a hit with our kids. Debra was very kind and had beach toys, chairs, table and fire pit we could use. The public access stairs to the beach are steep and rickety. I would recommend reaching out if you have walking mobility issues before renting.

We stayed here for our grandsons 8th birthday. We had such a great time and the house is so cute and fully stocked. The beach has chairs and furniture, toys and a firepit. The view is absolutely amazing. Deb is so nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place for a peaceful getaway.

This is a super cute little cottage literally steps from the water. Views are amazing! Beach is so nice! Perfect location to visit Indiana Dunes National Park. We will be back!

This was a great cottage and area for a girls get a way. We enjoyed it all so much! Clean, relaxing and cottage had everything we needed. The private beach is wonderful as well as downtown Chesterton.

Sandy nook has everything you could possibly want in a beach house from the kitchen with all of its pans and dishes to all of the toys and chairs for the beach. The beds were so comfortable! The view is beautiful. And Debra was a fantastic hostess! We would love to go back someday.

Our dogs enjoyed their stay as well and absolutely loved playing in the water and rolling in the sand. For us the only downfall is that we did not have a phone signal with AT&T.

The house was fine and the outdoor patio and deck had lovely views of the lake and the humming birds. The stairs to the lake were manageable for all but one of us. However she managed as well. We were able to cook all meals and able to hear the lake through the night.

This was a perfect beach cottage for our family with toddlers! We played at the beach with the provided sand toys, roasted marshmallows at the fire pit and went to a nearby pumpkin patch. We even enjoyed a rainy day by playing boardgames in the cozy cottage. Deb was such a wonderful host that even gave us a parting gift to remember our stay at the beach. We had the perfect family weekend and will definitely be back.

This cottage is quaint and steps from Lake Michigan. It was very clean and we loved the decor. We enjoyed our short 3 day stay and feel lucky we found this treasure! Deb, the host provided so may extras including blankets for cool nights sitting outside on the deck, beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, etc. She thought of everything! Besides enjoying the beach we also hiked and visited Indiana Dunes National Park.

Perfect little cottage just above the beach. It is very clean, nicely appointed and well cared for. The cottage has nice decorating touches which really brings out the charm. Very convenient to the beach..literally just steps away.

This cottage is just a flight of steps from the beach, and is just a short drive from both Indiana Dunes State and National Parks, and also a train station for easy access to Chicago. The owner lives right next door and Deb was great to work with. Will definitely consider staying again next time we plan to vacation in the area.

It's a small place but was fully furnished with everything you could possibly want - books, games, puzzles, beach towels, every sort of dish, frozen drinking glasses in the fridge. You will need to navigate steps in this cottage and beach access - just mentioning for those with mobility issues. It was no issue for our family. The place was clean. The hosts were very kind and helpful. Deb (the host) even made my daughter a bracelet out of crinoids she found on the beach! The best part was the easy access to the beach (literally out the door, 20 steps down and on the beach). The area was private. The hosts provided kayaks, paddleboards, life jackets, beach chairs and numerous bins of sand/beach toys for the kids. ALL THE FUN! There is even a firepit on the beach -- which let us have sunsets with s'mores. We plan to come back!

We really enjoyed being basically on the water and a walk away from the State Park, but were put off by restrictive waiver we had to sign upon arrival (which required us to assume responsibility for ‘owner’s fault and negligence now or in the future’). Also, the cabin has well water, the taste of which even Brita filter couldn’t get rid of, so we had to buy jugs of water for drinking (although we cooked with tap water). Other than that the cabin is well stocked and close to everything.

The cottage was very well appointed. The view of the Lake was spectacular! We so enjoyed dining on the deck and looking out over the Lake and listening to the waves. Deb and Joe were very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking the trails in the state and national parks. We will be back!

Few things were a little dirty, some dishes, old coffee in coffee pot. But overall was a cute cottage with a great location. We're a little disappointed that the private beach was underwater, but we still ha6s close beach access. Still would've been nice to get a heads up about that before arrival. Overall, Deb was great. Had plenty of privacy and were able to vacation without fear of coronavirus or having to wear a mask on the beach.

Great experience at Sandy Nook! Perfect location for accessing bike trails, hikes, and of course beach time without crowds. We'll be back.
