The hotel was easy to find and that was great after our 4 hour drive. Comfortable amenities. We ate dinner there as we were exhausted. They did cater for vegetarian and vegan, but both my daughter and I didn’t really like what we had chosen. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were lovely and we got on very well. Great welcome. Fabulous pit stop stay for our onward journey.
The vegetarian meal option on the dinner menu. We should have tried the veggie sausages and mash, but were so tired when we ordered we went for other options and saw that too late. Otherwise lovely.
The bedroom view was the street, but that’s not the hotels fault.

Breakfast was great and the coffee excellent. The shower was one of the best I've experienced. The location is central and easy to access.
Parking was a concern. When I arrived, it looked full so I parked in the ncp car park which looks very run down. I was too tired to move my car as i think there might have been space. As a solo woman traveller, I'd have appreciated being offered a reserved space.

This is a huge old hotel on an urban traffic island. Excellent beer (Sharp's Sea Fury), friendly and welcoming staff, but a bit of traffic noise. I'm sure it's a listed building but some secondary glazing would be helpful. Mad taps - instead of hot and cold, you've got a LH tap with pressure and a RH one to switch H and C. It's bonkers - why change a system everybody understands for one know one does (they had to put up a sign explaining it). Comfy bed, but the TV was mounted over the narrow area to cross from one side of bed to the other, perfect to bang your head!

The bed was incredibly uncomfortable- the mattress was hard and the duvet was thin with clumps of stuffing. Also the room was on an angle so the bed was sloping to one side.

The third time I've stayed here while visiting a friend. Conveniently located. Comfortable bed and a lovely breakfast. The morning staff were very friendly, I even had impromptu Christmas songs sang by the cleaners!

I loved everything about this hotel. Beautiful room, exceptionally clean. Quality lindn, towels and toiletries. I have mobility problems but the stairs were not steep. The whole place is very pretty and the staff were very friendly.
Only negative was that it the road was noisy but we expected that because of the location.

A lovely hotel and friendly staff. Good size room and comfy beds. Shower also great. Excellent breakfast. The bar area is very cosy and although we didn’t have dinner there, I believe the food is good. Definitely value for money.
A few stains on the chairs in the room and the blind in the bathroom could do with some attention.

Good breakfast - slightly odd location.. but easy for everything in the town.
Room 104 is a tight squeeze between the bed and the TV... difficult to manoevre.. I bet the TV comes off the wall often.. but otherwise all good.

Breakfast was fine. We know Axminster and chose the George for it's convenient location.
Rooms 101 and 201 were not "Geriatric Friendly" due to the stairs which reminded me of a R.N. below decks. The bed in 201 was not comfortable and the hclothes hangars in the 101 wardrobe were broken. I did inform the staff before leaving about this point.,

The seagulls lol they are very loud, and the window was open.

The room had a dirty bin with previous occupants hair and used tioletries in. The stairs to the room were steep, very narrow and uneven, if you weren’t nibble they would have proved a real issue. The room itself had a very uneven floor which made you feel as if at sea. Staff were polite and made some effort but constrained by rules. They wanted to charge us early check in when all we wanted was to change and leave our bags.

Our room was small but adequate with a very comfortable bed. There is no lounge but the bar area is comfortable and full of character. Convenient car parking is right outside and a huge car park is just opposite.
Being centrally located in Axminster is good for convenience but means the hotel suffers from traffic noise. For our stay the menu was similar every night and breakfast was identical each morning with no fruit, but all the food was tasty and well cooked.

...just a short walk from station, a beautiful hotel! My room was spotless with a everything I needed, a gorgeous, comfy bed and brilliant shower!
