Excellent stay. Cottage is as advertised. Has all the basic needs and an incredible view and deck/backyard to enjoy it from. Short rides to area beaches, restaurants and activities. Very relaxing spot. Owners are very nice and easy to deal with.

Hawkweed was the perfect place for us! It was clean and quiet and so very relaxing! There was a magical feeling there for us. It was fun to watch the lobster boats coming and going and watch the tides go from high to low! We met Rolland and he was a charming host and we had a most enjoyable visit! I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a restful, relaxing vacation! We found excellent lobster meals in the area as well! It was a vacation we will always remember fondly!

Lovely quiet location with nice waterfront views. Great place as a base or, like us, just to relax and enjoy.

Any property assessment will depend on individual likes. We enjoyed this semi rustic waterfront home. The renovated interior reminded me of vacations in the mountains on a lake without all the fancy resort amenities. The deck overlooking the water and boats was very relaxing and we managed to get our kayaks to the water which was down a steep bank. This seems to be typical of Maine properties. As always a fun time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Hawkweed Cottage. The cabin is compact, tidy, rural and has everything one needs for a vacation week in Maine. The deck and front lawn are perfect for watching the tides change, the birds, lobster boats and in our case the spectacular Harvest Moon. We enjoyed the area, visited The Farnsworth Museum, some galleries and Antique shops, ate far too many lobster rolls and sampled several bakeries. Fortunately we walked miles every day with our corgi! The tranquility of Hawkweed cottage is something really special.

The view was all promised! The back deck was perfect to relax, read, eat! The cottage was spotless - comfortable beds, clean updated bath and simple but very useable kitchen. Very convenient to Rockland, Camden and McLoon’s Lobster. Very responsive hosts.

This was our second summer staying at Hawkweed Cottage. We loved it so much we stayed for three weeks this year. Amazing location and views of the water. Also, our dog loved swimming every morning.

I hesitate to write this review and give any stars, because I want to keep this place to myself! Just returned from a week at Hawkweed (I think it's my 4th or 5th time....) and it was perfect in every respect. The cottage is exactly as pictured, so no surprises. It is immaculately kept and maintained., plenty of clean towels, hot water, nicely stocked kitchen area - everything you need for a comfortable stay. Simple, very clean, and a perfect secluded location with a fantastic view of the water; just a few minutes drive to Rockland for restaurants, museums, shops. My pups love it there (they think it's home). You can kayak from the property but it's not a swimming beach (you can get to one in just a few minutes by car). For me, the best part of Hawkweed is the secluded location, close to activities but a world away when you want to come home to the peace of the water. I've already booked for next year (again!).

We loved the private location. The cottage is outstanding, high quality bedding, towels & dishes and is spotless. Lily (our dog) especially appreciated Elaine's thoughtfulness of providing a dog blanket and toys. We could have just sat on the porch all day. The view was spectacular. Hawks, eagles, sea birds fishing all day and of course the lobster boats. Definitely will be back.

Everything you need is provided. Gorgeous spot and dogs had a blast! Great location for exploring and easy access to boat ramps. Always a pleasure !

Comfortable accommodations, beautiful setting with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Very private location with no light or noise pollution - heaven. Our small dog enjoyed the yard. Very convenient location for travelling the coast of Maine, both north and south. We have already reserved for next year!

We stayed at the cottage once before. Both times we really enjoyed the house, and the beautiful views. The place is clean and the photos are accurate. We recommend this property to others. The area is beautiful and there are lots of things to do.

My husband an I have stayed at the Hawkweed for two years in a row, we love it! The owners are nice and easy to deal with. The cottage is just the right size for a summer getaway, it is simple and clean - not overly filled with unnecessary things. The location is great, with a nice State Park (great place to swim) and just a down the road, and Rockland is very close. The yard and porch are great for morning coffee or reading a book in the sun with a beautiful view. Bring your kayaks - you can go right from the back yard and explore the cove. It is a special little place!

We stayed at Hawkweed in August of 2010. The location is nice -secluded and quiet. Close to Rockland and Camden so there's lots to do away from the property. The owner was easy to deal with. Honestly, we (parents and a 12 year old) were a little disappointed when we first got there. We actually thought of going home. The house is smaller than expected and unfinished in areas (insulation hanging out etc.). It reminded me more of a hunting lodge than a vacation home. The deck is the best part of the house. You can sit on the deck and watch the lobster boats come and go -that was nice. The description lists a large yard but it was smaller than we expected. There are roughly 20? steps leading down to a grassy /muddy / rocky shore (typical for the area). You could launch your kayak from here but it would be a haul getting it back up. Doable but not what you might expect. However, there is a beautiful park (one of the nicest I've seen) a short drive away. That was really special -quintessential Maine. There is a small general store about 15 minutes (driving) down the road. We enjoyed parts of our stay for the most part but will not repeat Hawkweed.

We stayed for several days with our two young children. This was a perfect location for us as there was a yard for them to play in and a large deck. Also privacy for mom & dad since there's 3 bedrooms. Husband went kayaking from back yard. Our oldest (4 1/2) cried when we left - she wants to move to the little cottage in Maine!
