We have stayed in many VRBOs and this was by far our favorite. We went in August and I was concerned about no AC, odly we did not miss it at all. As a trained chef I was shocked with the kitchen supplies. I had everything I needed including various seasonings. The location was perfect, quiet and secluded area. The owners special details were also amazing. There was a book library in the shelves and I found a book to read during our stay. Lots of interesting boardgames too.

Its amazing to arrive at your home away from home and discover it's even better than you expected. The beautiful yard and private location on the "quiet side" of the island are perfect when you want to escape the crowds.

We traveled from VA with our 2 kids and pup and stayed a week in this cozy and very well- equipped home. The garden is just beautiful and the location on the quiet side is private but also still very close to so many hikes and the little village of Southwest Harbor. We hope to be back!

We stayed for a week, perfect home base to explore Acadia to our hearts content! We loved the Greenhouse, it was very clean and comfortable and very well equipped. We loved the thoughtful design of the space, we felt we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We packed food and supplies and cooked most meals (in well equipped kitchen) in our cozy house. We explored Acadia daily, most trails took approx 20ish minutes from the greenhouse. We enjoyed dinner at close by Beal’s and one night and Abel’s. We really loved picking up lobster meat and huge shrimp at Parson’s and made our own lobster rolls at home, eating in the dining area or the outdoor space ! We travelled with our two adults sons, bedrooms were comfortable, we managed with one bathroom. We noticed an extra rollaway twin and a small chaise in the primary bedroom- you could fit additional kids in the primary if you needed to. Overall experience was a comfortable stay, we would recommend the Greenhouse if you are planning to explore Acadia and Bar Harbor!

Postcard Perfect!

This place was perfect for the two of us, even though it had an extra bedroom with 2 twin beds. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals at home. Outdoor patio was great to enjoy a glass of wine after hiking all day! Great location on the quieter side of the island close to the center of the town of southwest harbor. Would stay here again for sure!!

The Greenhouse is a great homebase for anyone spending a week in Acadia. Cute open concept thanks 4 min away from some great hikes- we loved our week in Ellen’s cabin on the quiet side of the park.

We loved returning to the Green House for our family stay in Southwest Harbor! This is a relaxing and comfortable place to spend our downtime while exploring Acadia. We hope to be back in the future.

My husband, son, and I had a wonderful stay at The Greenhouse! Truly, I could not have asked for anything better. The whole place was spotless and it was so nice to have some space for everyone. What comfortable, cozy accommodations, and what an incredible time we had!

This property was perfect for us! We prefer the quietness of Southwest Harbor and the Greenhouse was wonderful for this. It is spacious, tidy and the kind hosts have thought of anything you may need.

We loved everything about the Greenhouse. Elena provided everything one could possibly need to make this a home away from home. I’m already making plans to return next year.

The property was well maintained on a beautiful property. The host was a very nice lady whom we spoke with several times. The house was well equipped with everything you would need .There is a well equipped kitchen with many cooking condiments and plenty of linens and fresh towels .Also the owners dog Pip, who was very loving would mosey by occasionally which was quite nice, The house sits in a yard with flower beds and also has a lovely large patio and grill for you to use. The owner Elena also left a gift basket for us with coffee and different goodies for our stay. Property as described and better than the pictures. Kitchen was very well-equipped with pots and pans and glassware, along with oil and vinegars and spices. Outdoor gas grill and dining set-up were quite lovely, with quality furniture and a good umbrella for outdoor lunches. Great written resources on the island: a phenomenal trails book and trail map, among other things. The property was very clean, with plenty of towels and linens. Good supply of soap and cleaning implements, as well as a lovely welcome gift. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others who want to be on this beautiful part of the island.

We loved renting the Greenhouse! It was a perfect retreat after long days of hiking Acadia. It had everything we needed was very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed all that Southwest Harbor had to offer and the ease that we could get to Bar Harbor. We hope to return in the future!

We had such a lovely time and our host was so wonderful! She was super helpful and really helped ensure that we had a wonderful honeymoon. Such a beautiful house in such a gorgeous area! We're already talking about coming back!

The Greenhouse is the perfect spot to stay and enjoy the quiet side of MDI. It is close to all the great hikes in Acadia National Park, the Park Loop Road, and if you must downtown Bar Harbor. But once you have finished exploring for the day, its the best place to come back to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens. The house was spotless and had everything we needed to feel at home. Our dog loved the spacious grassy grounds and the comfy bed provided just for him.

We enjoyed our stay at the Greenhouse on the quiet side! It’s conveniently located if you’re looking to stay in Southwest Harbor and a great option for much of what Acadia has to offer. We enjoyed a stones throw from Echo Lake, Acadia Mountain and all of the food/shops in Southwest Harbor. Our pup and kids also loved staying here, too!

This is a really nice house! It is comfortable, nicely decorated, and very clean. It's well supplied for your stay -- good kitchen equipment and plenty of towels. It feels secluded but is an easy walk to town center. And the wifi works like a charm at 100+ megabits!

Great stay on the quiet side! This was our second time at The Greenhouse. We love it, as did our pup! Very clean, well equipped, and comfortable! Perfect home base for exploring all of Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Elena is a wonderful and responsive host. We look forward to returning!

We were very comfortable with our dog at this property. Saw a deer out in the yard one day and stargazing was exceptional. The Greenhouse was equipped with all you will need in a kitchen for your stay.

This was our second time in SW Harbor and first at this property. What a great stay! Tucked away enough that the property felt very private but within a minutes drive to restaurants and shops. Accessed several hikes on the quiet side of Acadia that were very close to the barn! We loved it here and so did our pup!

The home we stayed in was wonderful. While it rained all but one day, we did a lot. The area where the house is located is a great jumping of place, to see many of the things Maine has to offer.

Even though the house is dog friendly, it is very clean and no odd stains. The owner also provides dog bowls and a bed for your fur baby should you forget yours. Within walking distance is a coffee shop and liquor store with a nice selection of wine and craft beer. Within a five minute drive a grocery store and several restaurants. The home is very quiet and has a beautiful patio. Elena lives a few houses away and is available should their be any problems. It is a very comfortable home base and no trail is more than 20 minutes away, most are much closer. So much better than the congestion of Bar Harbor.

Our family of four (2 adults, 2 teenagers) and our dog thoroughly enjoyed our Fall stay at the Greenhouse. This was our second visit. The house is spacious and comfortable, the kitchen is so well equipped, and the beds are comfortable! There was even a cozy bed for our dog to use. We brought two cars this time, and there is ample parking. The light coming into the house is beautiful, as are the views of the sky and trees. The bathroom is big with good storage, plenty of towels, and a great shower head. The patio and gardens are peaceful and expansive. Our dog loved exploring the grounds each morning, and enjoyed visits with the owners' gentle dog, Pip. Southwest Harbor is a lovely town with several eateries and many nearby trails. It's also a quick drive to Bar Harbor and the busier part of Acadia National Park. We enjoyed several nice restaurant meals (and did lots of our own cooking) and really appreciated Elena's recommendations, especially for Beech Hill Market--not to be missed! We hope to return to the Greenhouse very soon! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Great location, wonderful yard, airy, well built, comfortable house with everything one could need, including a water filter. The location is ideal, close to all the hikes on the western side and less than 45 minutes from the eastern side.

It’s rare when a place lives up to its expectations, and even rarer when it exceeds them, but the Greenhouse was even more perfect than it seemed! The house was spotless and a wonderful home base for our time in Acadia. There are plenty of hikes near the house on the “Quietside” and you aren’t too far from the other attractions in Acadia. We can’t wait to return next year!

This was our second visit to Southwest Harbor (and definitely not our last). The Greenhouse is a perfect getaway. The pictures don’t do it justice, the house is far more charming than the pictures suggest. Elena was responsive from the moment we booked the house. She left a delightful welcome bouquet including fresh herbs and potatoes. Pip came with a wagging welcome the next morning when we sat on the patio (we’re dog people - Elena wouldn’t have let him over if we were not). The location is also perfect. We love Quietside’s slightly slower pace and fewer people. Many Acadia trails are a quick bike ride away on Seal Cove Road and others a short drive. Coffee and fresh, homemade bagels at Milagro’s an added bonus. The rest of SWH is a nice walk or bike ride away. We’ll be back!
