We loved the location and proximity to the ocean. The views are absolutely stunning. We’ve been several years in the past and rented from Vacasa down the street. I’m very sad that it was already rented. Even though the house we previously rented was much older and outdated inside, the cleanliness was impeccable and to me that is extremely important! No one wants to rent a house that is filthy inside.

We loved the location next to the beach access and across from the little store. Beds were very comfy and deck and patio were great! We would love to stay here again!

This home was serene and beautiful, comfortable and cozy. The views from every window surrounded us with ocean and green. The kitchen was well stocked and we did some cooking from home, but also enjoyed the Old Abalone Pub across the street. The road -- Route 1 -- was quiet. There was a lot of hiking and touring nearby which we loved, both on the ocean and inland. We will definitely return!

The home is quite warm and inviting. The views from the windows are fabulous, the sunsets and mornings were perfect. There are stairs down to a quiet beach, just the best! We will stay here again soon!

We stay at CH as a simple getaway before Christmas (coming from Bay Area). We had a relaxing time watching the waves crash from the warmth of the living room. We also spent a good amount of time just hanging out at the house playing board games. It really was a great place to unplug.
Kids also enjoyed walking down to the headlands where they played with the sand and explored tidepools. There is a long flight of stairs to the beach though so just a warning.
Only knock on the house is a little secluded in Westport so have to drive at least 30 mins to big cities with restaurants. But this wasn't a problem for us. We brought simple items from Trader Joe's and was able to cook ourselves. I think if you go in the summer, there are some restaurants in town that's open.
Outside the house and the outdoor furniture could use a little TLC but the inside was perfectly clean to allow for relaxation. It's also great that this is NOT a pet friendly place as my kids are highly allergic. I didn't have to worry about them rolling on the floor and touching things. Beds were also comfortable (aka semi-firm) so we were able to rest well.
We truly enjoyed out stay at Contemplation Haven and look forward to coming back! Thanks for hosting us!

We have stayed at Contemplation Haven twice and loved it both times. Such a beautiful spot along the spectacular coast. The house has everything we needed, and it was just so relaxing and beautiful.

This is a beautiful house with a fantastic view of the ocean! I saw several whales from the deck. The house is clean and the decor and dishes are beautiful. The location is close to endless hiking trails and beaches. Even though it is right on the highway at night all I could hear was the ocean. Across the street is a small grocery store and a hotel pub. Abolutely perfect ocean vacation!

We were two couples getting away for the NYE weekend. We had all we needed (with one exception) for a wonderful stay; fully capable kitchen, tastefully decorated, cozy, charming and quirky! We loved our stay except while trying to sleep. Investment in new bedding and mattresses is sorely (pun intended) needed. Otherwise a fabulous stay with no complaints.

This beautiful house has a lovely view of the ocean. A small beach is a five-minute walk. Sparkling clean, we recommend this property enthusiastically. You do need to be ready to drive for 20+ minutes to get to restaurants in Fort Bragg. The drive is gorgeous, but requires your full attention around sharp curves.

Peaceful Stay :)
We stayed at Contemplation Haven to attend a wedding celebration at the Switzer Farm just down the road. Leading busy work-filled lives, the CH home provided us the quiet rest we really needed in between ceremony events. We even found ourselves leaving early to come back and listen to the rolling waves in the peacefulness of the home. Thank you so much. Loved all of the pictures, amenities and comfort of a well taken care of home. :)

Nos gusto mucho la locación, la casa y lo acogedora que es. Tiene todo lo necesario para pasar unos días desconectado de la ciudad. Cuenta con una tienda muy surtida para comprar cosas básicas en frente. Volveremos sin pensarlo.

The View!
This house has one of the best views of the Pacific Ocean that I've ever seen. Even with overcast skies and a bit of fog, it was lovely to watch and listen to the waves crash on the rocks. The house was well equipped and comfortable. I would most definitely rent it again.

Disappointed will not be back
Excited to stay. Was there in August and loved the home, clean tidy and beautiful views. Got to Westport and walked in, the floor was obviously dirty a quick sweep at best, dirt all around the carpet edges and under. Toilet tissue in sink in lower bath, toilet tissue and obvious feces in upstairs toilet. Sink did not look clean. No hand towel, found a bath towel and hung it up for use. The master bedroom had a small red and white dish left on the bedside table and the sheets- looked maybe clean but it looked to both of us that someone had slept on top of the quilt then straightened. I was uncomfortable the entire time, was the bed clean, were the pillowcases clean? Didn’t feel like it was.
Called Vacasa and they sent out a housekeeper from Fort Bragg- she cleaned the bathrooms and swept.
Disappointed beyond disappointed- especially for the price.
Will look for other rentals elsewhere.

Perfect and secluded getaway
We enjoyed the stay immensely. The house was extremely clean, the kitchen was very well stocked if you are one who likes to cook, the bedding and towels were very clean. The main bed is a queen, wished it could be a king. The location is extremely secluded however there is a mini mart across the street, actually is a historical store and I recommend checking it out. You have a chance to see whales in the distance and hear sea lions and see all kinds of birds flying around. We will be coming back.

Love the remoteness of the home yet close enough to Fort Bragg for essentials. Quiet, very clean and well kept. Will absolutely be back, thank you for sharing your little piece if paradise with us.

This home was welcoming and comfortable with spectacular views! The house was well furnished, clean and the perfect size for our family of four. The town of Westport provided the perfect setting for our relaxing family vacation.

Great location beautiful house but minor problems
This is a beautiful property. We had a great time. We came there for a wedding at Switzer Farms. The blinds were very tacky and did not work well and not in good repair. A number of light fixtures in the bedroom with twin beds and in the kitchen did not have any lightbulbs in them. Refrigerator freezer was leaking water onto the floor. The kitchen sink had a motion sensitive device to turn it on which was ridiculous and unnecessary. The TV only had Netflix and we couldn’t seem to figure out how to use broadcast TV it was very confusing. We couldn’t find any directions and how do use the TV. We thought it was terribly overpriced and the fee for Vrbo was exorbitant. almost $2000 for five nights Was Way over priced it was probably worth about half of that. The next time I rent a VRBO I’m going to avoid Vacasa because I just think their money grubbers. The hot tub did not work. And this property is not a good value. I’ve read other reviews of Vacasa and they are not favorable. In general I don’t like Vrbo because their fees are too high.

Enchanting!
We had the pleasure of visiting for an extended weekend and could not have been more pleased. The ocean view was spectacular. This 2-bedroom oceanside cottage is a gem. The birds sing in the morning, and the sounds of ocean waves lull you to sleep at night. All the desirable amenities are there from a beautiful kitchen to a great bathroom--washer and dryer, too. I would stay here again. Full stop. If you want the feeling of getting away from it all without the full reality of what that means, stay here. :)

Great place to put your life on pause...
Very relaxing, great ocean views. House is very tastefully decorated with art and plants. Very good floor plan for relaxing and gazing at the sea. Nice cove nearby to walk on the beach. Fort Bragg not too far away if you want civilization. We will return!

Beautiful
The view! So awesome I could have just stayed in the house all weekend. I really have no complaints they had everything I needed to cook my daughter n law (new age cooker) said it could use an air fryer but then said it was fine once see realized there was a coffee grinder. The bed was firm the best sleeps I’ve had in awhile. The one thing I wish it had was a bigger softer couch to relax and enjoy the views. Other then that I loved it. The beach right below the house was always private no other people but I believe it’s public. This home is a must stay. We will be back.

Quiet, picturesque and ease of access.
The home was as advertised. The location is beautiful, slightly off the normal tourist route to Mendocino and Fort Bragg but worth the extra miles. It was stocked with the usual kitchen and bath items. Bring your own knives. The unit needs a bit of TLC but overall or stay was comfortable very pleasant. Only real complaint would be the bed in the master. (Hard as a rock) and that comes from someone who likes a stiff mattress.
