Very comfortable house in a wonderful area with plenty of parking, plenty of household supplies and kitchen amenities -- location is hard to beat, very easy for us to go to many spots in the area and provided wonderful walking to enjoy the views. Host was great - very easy to communicate with and quick to offer any help if needed. Plenty of linens, toiletries, beds, and space to spread out, as well as games,hot tub, and pool and outside toys to play with while there. Kitchen was well equipped for a group as we ate most meals here. Front deck was a great place to gather and enjoy the views and nice San Diego weather. I would definitely recommend to other large groups wanting a comfortable, relaxing place to stay and enjoy the area.

The property had an amazing views right across Sunset Cliffs. You could see this sunset every day, which was amazing. The house is very large and can accommodate a very large group and well and also has a very nice pool and hot tub. The host was also easy to contact very helpful.

Reserving the rental and communication with property managers went well.However, home is not what is shown in pictures on Vrbo. Should state beach has cliffs, is not friendly for walking or swimming.The home is dirty, cobwebs hanging on ceiling, roof leaks, kitchen wares dirty (serving and cooking), a hodgepodge of kitchenware.Light fixtures had dirt and mold in them, some were rusty as were shower curtain rods. Furniture was worn out - inside and at the pool.Rugs were dirty and had dry rot backing.Not all plumbing fixtures worked.Bedding appeared to be from recent garage sale. Appears owner doesn't want to get rid of old furniture in their home so use rental to store it.So disappointed - a family trip including some teen friends, felt really bad for the teens to have to put up with this.One more thing, actually 2 - who has a vending machine in their home? Or, a china hutch with useless china?

This was a great house for my extended family to share to celebrate Christmas together! We had a lovely time, the host was wonderful and responsive (even on Christmas Day), the proximity to our activities was nice, and having a pool was great for the kids in the group. Thanks for a Christmas to remember!

First the positives -- excellent location, nice neighborhood, beautiful sunsets, great living area to gather, excellent communication from property manager. The downside is that the house is badly in need of some sprucing up. For example, the front screen door sticks, so that sometimes it was difficult to exit or enter. And there are windows that are difficult to open or close. But if you are looking for a convenient location with lots of space in a great neighborhood, this would work well for you.

We had multiple rentals to accommodate family and friends who were in town for a family wedding. This property had games. a great pool and room for everyone staying at the house to hang out. The location was amazing for everything we were doing.

This house is perfect for a large group staying in the sunset cliffs area. It has several comfortable rooms, a great kitchen, beautiful views of the cliffs, and easy access (right across the street!). Joseph was very communicative and accommodating during our stay. We did not get to use the pool and hot tub during our stay but both seem great. You even have the option to have the pool heated! Overall, a great option for a large group.

With 13 of us, 8 adults, and 5 teens staying right across from the cliffs was perfect for hiking and exploring tide pools, and a short walk to Ocean Beach with lots of restaurants. Everyone enjoyed the pool and pingpong table.Joseph was very helpful.

The house was absolutely gorgeous and the views were amazing. The location is perfect, close to San Diego but far enough out of the city where is has a relaxing vibe. Our group was large and had 20 people with 5 different families staying ages ranging from 74 to 8 and the house never felt crowded. Everyone loved the pool and hot tub and everyone loved exploring the coastline. The property management team is amazing to work with, very nice and accommodating! Book this house and you will not regret it! Will book again when we return to San Diego!

We had a work team getaway for four days at Sunset Cliffs.
Joseph was prompt, helpful and very responsive to all our needs. The location was fantastic and the pool was sparkling! The house was plenty big enough to have the 10 of us, each with his/ her own bed. We didn't feel cramped at all.
We all really enjoyed ourselves in this relaxed home. I would like to kindly suggest to Joseph, however, that some of the furniture (especially around the pool) needs replacement and the cleanliness of the pull out sofa bed I used to sleep in was questionable. The power tripped several times when we were there and we needed to call to get access to the power box. Joseph was very helpful and responsive but this may need to be upgraded soon as well.

We had 16 of us staying at this property. Ages ranged from 3 year old, to adults. Everyone had their own bed, kids used pull out couch so they could all sleep together. Location is perfect for ocean view, watched dolphins from the living room. Pool was perfect for the kids, deck had an awesome view. Property was easy to get to and parking was never a problem. Would recommend.

The location and property amenities were fantastic! Beautiful view, an enjoyable pool & hot tub and a great fenced yard for kids! The kitchen is well stocked - we cooked for 15 and had plenty of dishes, glassware, and pots & pans. The host was very responsive to issues that arose. Negatives: The kitchen is small for the number of bedrooms and access to the bunk bed is funky.

The location is beautiful alongside the famous sunset cliffs. You have floor to ceiling windows in the living room for you to watch the sunset every night as well as an open deck in the front with a fire pit. We were winding down a long 3 city vacation ending perfectly in San Diego. We stayed for about 1 week and thoroughly enjoyed the luxurious pool that transitions from walking/wading depth to 6ft. The hot tub functioned perfectly. The pool/patio furniture was also very relaxing. The great room was perfect for entertaining. The ping pong table was an added benefit as well. There was a clean grill with extra propane, but we did not use.
Sleeping arrangements worked well for our group of 8 with every couple/single getting their own bedroom.
Joseph was very kind, responsive, and quick to address our needs. There were several flies in the house which he addressed with a bug zapper same day. There were some broken screens in the windows which were addressed by the next day. A TV wasn't working properly so he bought and installed a new TV within the hour. Air conditioners are not common along the coast and so we used fans. Joseph quickly provided/replaced fans for our comfort.
The nearby sunset cliffs downtown (?) is really active with plenty of good food. We did not expect to see so many high quality restaurants in this area. We were also a short drive to Gas Lamp, Petco park, the zoo, and the airport. The hikes by the property were enjoyable too.

This is a great house for a large family get-together
We had 15 people of all ages and needs stay. We had a fabulous time, and the property was ideal.
At the same time, I can see why a few people who left reviews were disappointed. So I thought I'd offer a few comments:
Pros:
- Ideal for hosting a large group comfortably
- Everything as advertised, clean and functional
- Well-stocked with necessaries (utensil, towels, etc.)
- The hosts are super responsive and helpful, without being intrusive
- The pool is amazing - warm, spacious and very usable
- Ability to bring a pet (in this case a well-trained comfort dog) was key for our group
- Layout is excellent for people with limited mobility
- Location is phenomenal - beautiful sunsets, great walks, convenient to SD attractions
Cons:
- There is a long list of rules, relative to most rentals I've stayed at, which is somewhat intimidating. We had no issues, but it's something to be aware of
- This is an older house that was built up through additions. It has some quirks. If you're looking for a brand-new McMansion style, this isn't it. There were some spots with wear-and-tear, though nothing that affected our stay.
- Several of the sleeping slots are sleeper-sofas in the living room, or extra-beds/pullouts in some of the bedrooms. This is all as-advertised, but does require some piling-in together to achieve the max capacity. We ended up renting the casita (extra $$$, again as-advertised) so that we could keep the living room free for socializing. So, pay close attention to the roster of sleeping areas, etc.
Again, it was great for us, very comfortable, and should work really well for any large group. However, for a smaller group, or if looking for "pristine" / "new construction" type feel, you may want to look elsewhere.

Great family location!
Great house for families with older people. Absolutely No backyard use after 8, or neighbors will complain. (Even just talking!) but house is family friendly and fabulous views. Lots of space for activities.

Awesome House and Host
This house is killer and has everything you could ever need, Joseph was an excellent host and showed us around the house. 10 out of 10 would stay again.

Complete Disappointment
The property is old and incredibly run down. For the price per night, and all of the added expenses, it was a huge waste for us. We were hosting family members and were embarrassed at the state of the house, appliances, jacuzzi (green) etc. Such a simple item as the kitchen trash can was disgusting. It is a shame that no money is put back into the property. The furniture was mismatched, damaged, and old, towels provided looked like they were from 1972... I could go on and on.
The host is a really nice man, brought us wine and offered free nights for future stays to try to win us back - but it's just not enough for this particular property and the cost to stay there.

Superb Location
The location of this house is wonderful with splendid ocean views for walking and watching sunsets. It is close to restaurants, gas stations, and grocery stores. The house has lots of open space for large groups and all the possible kitchen amenities you could want! The backyard and pool area is splendid and great for relaxing. The ping pong table and pool toys were thoroughly enjoyed by family members. On check -in the hot tub was not working, the problem was resolved by quick responsiveness from the owner. Paying additional funds for heating the pool is a waste as the water temperature is not reliable. We were very respectful of the neighbours and ensuring quiet time after 8 pm. It would be helpful to have some lighting in the pool area as darkness comes early by 6 pm and so the pool area is not accessible from 6-8 pm due to darkness. There was a vending machine for junk food snacks - something our family didn’t want or need. This house has enough plates, cutlery, glasses and china to host large gatherings. There is ample parking on the street for several cars. A house to consider for large family gatherings and vacations!

92nd bday and 30th bday celebrations
As an overall stay it was perfect for our needs and we would recommend this VRBO. Great seating arrangements for eating, game playing, relaxing. You do pay a top dollar rate so a few things could have been cleaned a bit more thoroughly but nothing that we couldn't handle and nothing that we complained about. Some of the linens although I'm sure clean have lost their crispness or clean feel because they are very old so new linens for the beds would be a suggestion, but again not something that would deter our staying there. One thing we were looking forward to was the Casita opening up to the pool area as shown in the pictures but that has been bolted shut for some time so that cannot be opened and the picture should not show it as such or there should be mention that that is not the current condition. We did pay to have the pool heated and that was perfect and the backyard is a wonderful place to gather. The noise situation is definitely an issue if you are a large group gathering. Keeping 18-22 people quiet is near impossible no matter their age. Our first night which was the 92-year-old bday celebration we got reprimanded (8 of us over 60, 8 over 30 and one 2-year-old) So when they say quiet after 8:00 they really mean no noise at all outside after 8:00, although our complaint was after 10:00 but we were out front and complaint came from the back neighbors. Fri and Sat night we were sure to have all the 30th bday festivities inside to avoid further issues but that was a bit of a dissappointment with a heated pool and Jacuzzi in the back and a very inviting sitting area in front with fire pit but you can't let your voices carry. Again, with a big group that's a difficult task. Simple laughter and chatter adds up with a big group. We have rented several VRBOs and several rentals through various vacation rental companies and we would definitely consider returning and would recommend their vacation home.

Fantastic Sunset Cliffs Experience
Our stay at the Sunset Cliffs was fantastic. The property speaks for itself. Beautiful view from the living room, the cliffs across the street, an incredible backyard with pool, jacuzzi, grass yard. But then on top of that, Joseph was such a pleasure to rent from. He greeted us when we checked in and walked us through the house and property thoroughly. He was extremely friendly and made us feel so welcome. We had such a great time, and we would eagerly rent the place again in the future!

Beautiful location
The house was perfect for a large group of people, well equipped kitchen and kid friendly toys. Property manager/owner was great and responsive to questions and concerns. I did inform him that the fans in the rooms (3 that I noticed) were in need of cleaning, which he said he would look into. Location was amazing with a great view of the ocean. Thank you again!

Nice sunsets
The property manager, Joseph was great. He arrived at check-in and check out right on time as well as very responsive. The location was nice however there isn't really a beach that's within walking distance that's easily accessible. The sunsets were amazing though. The overall house was nice but it's a little tired and in need of some updating. We will rebook with Joseph again but likely try one of his other properties.

Overall the experience was good. This home had no AC and near the beach you would think it wouldn't be that warm inside. In fact it was EXTREMELY warm. The owner was onsite upon arrival as well as departure. This was a vacation for a large party and rules were very STRICT (no outside noise after 8pm or the neighbors would call the cops) also no backyard outdoor lights to enjoy the pool at night. Everything cost extra. On top of paying $1,000/night there was an additional charge for the "heated feature" on the pool/spa. We were left with no propane or laundry soap, and minimal trash bags. With such a large party that was a bummer. House was clean but very "dated" for the amount of money paid.

Extended family vacation
We enjoyed our 7 day stay at Villa Mar Vista. The location could not be better. The backyard, pool and hot tub were a highlight as was the fire pit on the front deck for our sunset gathering place! The beach a mile away at OB was amazing. Any issues with the operation of certain things were handled promptly by Joseph and/or his son. It might be time for a new BBQ but we made it work. Thank you for a great relaxing vacation.

Excellent location and excellent accommodations
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful house. With more than enough room for the 8 of us it was the perfect launching point for our daily excursions around San Diego. We took full advantage of the pool and spa which were perfect for relaxation at the end of our busy days. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the dishes, pots, pans, and utensil so we could enjoy our family meals.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anybody who asked!
