This cabin is in a great location and very clean has everything you need. Wildlife is abundant. Had a great visit to Estes Park again. The owner Wendell check-in with us upon arrival to make sure everything was good! We will definitely recommend this Cabin and stay here again. Jeralyn

This is our 3rd year to stay here at Wendell's property on the Thompson River. We keep coming back because it's AMAZING. He has everything one could possibly need in a place and has even made upgrades to both bathrooms to make them both perfect. And even if you're missing some items that you forgot to bring, the home is located only about a quarter of a mile from a small grocery store that has all the essentials to restock what you need without having to go into town to the Safeway which by the way is only about 5 miles from the property. The location on the river and all the chairs and picnic tables make it peaceful to sit outside and listen to the rushing water. The cable and internet are perfect and provide all the conveniences of home as well. And the 2 electric recliners are perfect too. Our 3 year old loved them!! We've come around Labor Day every year now for 3 years and have not been disappointed by the elk. They are almost always in the yard to see for hours at a time. Some suggestions for smaller children are the Copeland Falls Trail up Mary's Lake Road in the RMNP. It's a short hike - 0.3 miles up and 0.3 miles back down and you can drive into the Wild Basin trail head and park right next to the trail head. Great hike for small children. And right next to the home is the Trout Haven Fishing Pond that is stocked with Rainbow trout and your small ones will love catching the fish! All in all, Wendell has been a great host!

My husband and I stayed here many times over the years. This August week I brought my son and his family. It was a great peaceful home away from home! Clean. Well equipped. Washer and dryer, dishwasher, TVs—all we needed! So close to the Park! Treat yourself to this wonderful rental!!!

Our stay was absolutely beautiful and relaxing the entire week, even when it rained! Not only is the house cozy and warm to stay in, but the view of the Big Thompson River is absolutely spectacular! Every night we sat by the river, relaxed, and talked to one another while enjoying the natural sounds of the river. We also enjoyed the very large, accommodating table for all 10 of our family (4 stayed in a cabin nearby) where we shared meals together all week. We also enjoyed seeing all the wildlife; from tons of elk, to a bear our first day, some mule deer, many hummingbirds and magpie, and a river otter! Among all the great things amenities of the homey cabin, it is in the perfect location right outside of town and on the way to RMNP. The owner is very nice and accommodating to your stay and is such a wonderful person. We love this home away from home, we love the owners, and we love Estes Park!

Stayed here with a buddy during a fly fishing trip. Really enjoyed the house, location, and being on the water. Very nice.

Everything was great

4th time here and keeps getting better and better! Nice updates to bathrooms and living room furniture. Delayed leaving our last day because of a herd of 17 elk blocking our path out of the cabin! Amazing property and location!

The cabin was very clean and comfortable and stocked with towels cookware etc.. The location on the river was wonderful while also being close to town.

We were bummed the river was too high to fish but none the less we had a great stay. Very nice location to downtown.

The location of this cabin is perfect. River is right outside the window. Frozen over and covered in some! It was beautiful. We saw turkeys and rabbit in the yard. Convenient to downtown and Rocky Mountain National Park. Also had the neighbors come and shovel and plow the driveway and sidewalks after it snowed. Property owner called to check on us after we got a lot of snow, which was great. Thank you for having us Wendell.

This is the ultimate spot for a family trip to Estes! Great location, wonderful kitchen, plenty of space. You cannot beat the views or the daily elk sightings as they stroll the property. Wonderful/accommodating host. This is our 2nd trip and we’ll be back for me fun next year!

This is an amazing property, with a private feel but still close to downtown Estes and RMNP. My kids played in the creek and the large yard, and every day we saw either elk or deer meandering through the yard and creek. The house was very clean and comfortable. No complaints, we would definitely stay here again!

Location! Location! Location! Very convenient to downtown Estes Park & RMNP. Right on river where large animals strolled into spacious yard. We were there 3 days and had mule deer and elk grazing several times. Furniture was sturdy and comfy.

We were thoroughly impressed with our stay at this property! The home was very clean, check in was easy as can be, and the location along the water couldn't be better. We appreciated the variety of outdoor seating, soft bath towels, & laundry baskets in each room (something you don't always get at a VRBO). The fact that we could walk half a mile to a coffee shop or drive 5 minutes to RMNP made the location ideal for our group. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful location

Very restful. Great location to town. Elk daily to watch and one bull elk that woke us up bugling at the fence line one morning at 6 am. . The sounds of the rushing river are hypnotic.

A very nice location right on the little river/creek. We got to see elk from our location and the house accommodated all of very nicely.

Beautiful, clean, updated home right on the river. Relaxed and enjoyed the sounds of the river flowing by. The living room with all of the large windows provided the perfect chance to relax and enjoy the nature around us. Even had a big black bear stroll by on our first night! The home was absolutely perfect for us and the pictures of the house do not do it justice - it looks so much more updated than the pictures represent. Wendell came on site our last day as we were packing up and was the nicest man. We are grateful that he shared his wonderful home with us and he was so accommodating. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit.

Wendell is amazing! And the place is an a perfect location. Description is spot on as we saw elk in our yard the day we arrived.

Property was perfect for our family. The setting was beautiful and the house was very clean and fully stocked. Very close to Rocky Mountain National Park. Wendell was very helpful and responsive if I had a question. We really enjoyed our stay!

My family had such a wonderful time at the River’s Edge property! It was a great location, close to town and getting to the park. All of the basic amenities were provided so we did not have to pack or buy a lot of the basics. Having the on-site washer and dryer was awesome so we did not have a mountain of laundry when we got home. We loved having our own private river access for my husband and sons to fly fish whenever they wanted and it was beautiful. This place was perfect for our family, cannot wait to go back!

This place is so dreamy!!!! We loved being right by the river and having privacy. The place is large enough for all of us. Three adults and three kids. The kitchen looks out onto the river and the home is super cozy and spacious. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again.

And we haven’t for the last 3 years :) Aren’t enough superlatives to describe! Thank you!

I cannot say enough about the hospitality we received from Mr. Walker. His place was so charming and located in the perfect place! Right off the river, but far enough from the highway - we felt secluded the whole time! The cabin is very close to downtown plus the entry to RMNP. It’s also very close to a much less busy grocery store! Beds were very comfortable, views were amazing, everything was well stocked, and Mr. Walker was quick to respond to all of our questions. We saw several elk, a marmot, and a bear during our visit. The bear was across the river and street :) We highly recommend this cabin and we will definitely stay again in the future! We booked this cabin kind of on a whim when we decided less than a month out we wanted to go to Estes Park and it was only available all summer for the week we wanted to go. After reading all the glowing reviews and seeing the photos of the river in the backyard we decided to give it a try. Of course we were hoping to see elk, but my husband and I figured it would be a long shot. Well, the day we arrived and pulled in the driveway there were 2 elk just laying in the yard! They came back the next 2 days and the last day we were there we had deer in the yard. It honestly was the highlight of our trip. We mainly came to Estes Park for the national park which we thoroughly enjoyed, but we actually saw the wildlife closer in person while saying at the cabin. I was a little hesitant booking because we tend to stay in homes/condo a little more upscale on vacation, but the cabin was very clean and comfortable and the views, river and wildlife made it all worth it. The location was just perfect as well, it was super easy to access the park or go into the city of Estes, we even walked to dinner one evening. We would definitely stay here again.

This place had everything we needed for our stay while we visited rocky mountain national park. The best part was the elk coming into the yard to visit almost daily. Close to estes and the park entrance. Highly recommend.
