Al terzo piano di una pietra arenaria centenaria, la Maison des Sirenes è perfetta per chiunque apprezzi lo stile e il comfort. Conveniente ma non "economico", La Maison des Sirenes è ben vestita !!! L'appartamento è stato decorato con gusto e ho scelto meticolosamente ogni singolo mobile. Questo è il primo appartamento che abbia mai affittato come casa vacanza (agosto 2007).
Si trova su uno dei blocchi più ambiti di Bedstuy (alberato). Presenta una camera da letto principale, un bagno antico, una cucina completamente attrezzata in stile toscano, una sala da pranzo, un soggiorno e un fantastico ponte foderato di bambù con tavolo, ombrellone e divano letto in ferro battuto. Perfetto per barbecue in estate, brunch al sole nei fine settimana o semplicemente per rilassarsi.
Soprattutto l'appartamento è a poche statine da Manhattan.

Bedstuy era noto per il suo motto "do or die". Non più!!!! Ora è meglio conosciuto per la sua incredibilmente bella Brownstone. Sono stati i timori recentemente pubblicati sulla rivista Time Out come "uno dei migliori quartieri" di New York. La forte comunità e le belle e abbondanti case a schiera in pietra arenaria contribuiscono alla sua crescita e al suo fascino. Nuovi caffè, ristoranti, panifici, boutique, gallerie e wine bar stanno spuntando ovunque ricevendo molta attenzione da Zagat, time out, riviste e blog di New York. Un variegato mix di studenti, hipsters, artisti, professionisti del settore, architetti e avvocati di tutte le razze continuano a trasferirsi nel quartiere.
La zona è ben servita dal treno A abd C con tempi di percorrenza 15 minuti per LowervManhattan e 30 minuti per Midtown.(Times Square).
Bedstuy ospitava artisti famosi come Notorious BIG, Lil Kim, Mos Def, Chris Rock, il poeta June Jordan e l'attivista Hattie Carthan. Le strade di Bedstuy sono spesso rappresentate dai media: film di Spike Lee, video musicali MIA .....

We plannes to stay in NY for 11 days. Manhattan was expensive. The apartment in Bedstuy looked fine, but we had heard that the area was "sketchy" (lonely planet). Stay away from Bedstauy! said a New-yorker. Don't used the Subway in the evenings!
I was a bit sceptical, but now we have tried Bedstuy and "La maison des sirene". We felt safe all the time. No negative experiences. The area was peaceful for all we could see.
We liked the apartment. Practical. And a food store open nearly all day and night half a Block away was fine. Short distance to the Subway!

Wonderful apartment in a great location!
Our stay at Nathalie's apartment in Bed-Stuy was clearly one of the highlights of our trip to the US. The apartment itself has a very welcoming and warm atmosphere and lies in a character house. It's designed with so much taste and has a very nice terrace to relax in the evening over a beer. The surroundings are very exciting as well - we found Bed-Stuy one of the most vibrant and interesting areas in NY. And finally it has an easy Subway connection allowing quick trip to Manhattan and other areas. Overall, highly recommendable!

This place was still better than we had expected after having seen the beautiful pics. You feel really home and in a very spiritual place at the same time. Nathalie our host responded to our questions and needs with accuracy and easiness. Thank you, Nathalie, for your kindness, we enjoyed our stay very much.
The flat itself is furnished very tastefully. Together with the terrace you can calm down after a busy day in NYC. The neighborhood is very charming, situated in a typical Brooklyn brownstone street. There are a few 24 h shops in short distance and a bunch of shops, delis and restaurants in walking distance. A and C line are within 10 min walk. It’s Bedford Stuyvesant though, so don’t expect middle class monoculture.

We had wonderful 10 days in Bed-Study, Brooklyn. There are nice Cafes, Bars and Restaurants within walking distance and very friendly neighbours around.
Nathalie, our host is a very kind person and always helpful.
The apartment is very clean and perfect for a couple and you can relax on the nice terrace or have your breakfast outside.
There is a big supermarket on the main street open fron 7-midnight, only 10-15 min walk from the house.
This was our seconed stay at Nathalies house and would love to come again.

If you want the same old cookie cutter hotel room, then quit reading this right now. If you are looking a fun, large, comfortable and artsy home experience in an eclectic neighborhood, read on. This large, well stocked and fun apartment is delightful. Decorated in a myriad of styles, this place is bohemian and exotic at the same time. Located about five blocks from a metro station, we found the neighborhood to be very walkable. Never felt unsafe in any way. Be advised most of the small shops nearest the train close at 8 pm if you need to buy aspirin or an umbrella. Nathalie was always available to us for advice and help. Her place is a NYC/Brooklyn EXPERIENCE, not just a place to lay one’s head. We had a great time. Thank you, Nathalie! 💙

La Maison Des Sirenes is an eclectic, bright, jewel in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Our family of 5 spent 4 nights here while we visited NYC and explored Brooklyn. It’s is short walk to the subway station and only about 30 minutes to midtown. We had plenty of room, plus there is an outdoor seating area with table and couch. Being in a quiet neighborhood was nice, lots of options for dinner, coffee, bagels, groceries or beverages nearby. Nathalie was very attentive and checked on us daily to make sure we had what we needed. Only downside was the noisy, creaky steam heater during the night. Took a little getting used to for the kids.

We never actually met Nathalie while we were there, but we left her a voicemail when the toilet kept clogging one day, and she immediately fixed it and left us a note upon our return. We lucked out because NYC received two large snowstorms two days before we arrived and then again right after we left. However, while we were there it was just cold and windy so we wore our layers and were fine. This property is very close to the subway and you can also get a LYFT from the city for about $36 or a taxi for about $10-15 more than that. When you have bags, I highly recommend using the LYFT to and from the airport or Manhattan. It’s just too difficult to navigate the subway and stairs etc. with luggage. There’s a great little Pizzaria around the corner that’s not too far if you don’t want to cook OR go out. There is a great Kolache shop several blocks away that is worth the walk. If you want to eat the best Spanish not Mexican or Tex-Mex food you have ever put in your mouth go to ABCCOCINA and you will dine like queens and kings. My nephew, Shea, is the head bartender, so if you go look him up and tell him where you are staying as he’s in the neighborhood and loves living there. Anyway, that restaurant is by far the best food I ate in NYC for 8 days!! It’s Tappas, which is small dish dining if you aren’t familiar with that term. The food is AMAZING AND THE SERVICE IS OVER THE TOP! Can’t say enough wonderful things about staying at Nathalie’s. We will definitely stay there upon a return trip to NYC area. Perfect apartment for our stay in New York
La Maison des Sirènes was a great place to stay for our five-night stay in New York. We are a group of four adults (mother and three grown children). I wasn't quite sure how the sleeping arrangement was going to work, but it was perfect for us. Nathalie already had everything set up when we arrived. She had three comfortable twin beds made up in the living area, and I had the queen bed. They were all comfortable with very nice bedding. The bathroom has an original claw foot tub. It doesn't have a proper shower, but does have a spray attachment, so it can be used to shower off. I personally loved the bathtub . The apartment was clean and everything met my expectations.
I want to stress how much we LOVE the neighborhood. The street where we stayed was charming and tree-lined with beautiful brownstones. The subway is a very nice walk (not far at all) and easy to find. It is about 20 minutes to Manhattan, but we didn't mind the commute at all and went into the city every day. We love the ambience of the Bed-Stuy area of Brooklyn. We had lovely dinners at the two restaurants recommended by Nathalie. We also found a nice Mexican restaurant, and there are delis on several corners. We loved exploring the area.
I would highly recommend staying La Maison Des Sirenes if you are looking for a very charming and comfortable apartment during your stay in New York.

Vintage and Boho and perfect

Great Spot to Stay
Really enjoyed the place. Lots of character and plenty of sleeping options. Mostly what we were expecting. Stayed here with a few friends. Must note that it isn't technically a 1 bedroom place. There is a queen bed that is separate from the others but there are no walls or doors to make it a bedroom. One other thing that some of us were slightly disappointed in was the shower.... you can't actually stand up in the shower as you usually would. It is a hand held sprayer in a claw foot tub. I am 5'6" and I had to kneel down in the shower to wash hair.
The price was great and the location is very convenient for exploring New York City.

Nathalie was an excellent host, she made our stay very easy.
The apartment is perfect for 2 couples or a family. Located in the heart of Brooklyn there're lots of things to do around and it's very well linked to Manhattan and other neibourghoods.

A great Brooklyn experience.
Less than five-minute walk to the subway, you can access all the city, however the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood has a great vibe. The second story apartment had many of the original details of the brownstone and a great view of the neighborhood street. Requested car service to the airport was easily taken care of with a simply text to the owner. Great experience.

Experience New York like a real New Yorker
My family of 5 visited La Maison des Sirenes for a quick weekend trip after Cooperstown Baseball tournament. Our first full day the block was having a old school block party with cool music, food, and bounce house. All the neighbors were out having fun. We talked with a few neighbors but chose to pass on the block party and go site seeing. The Subway was only a few blocks away so we used it for our main form of transportation. The neighborhood was very safe during the day and at night. My Infiniti QX60 sat around the corner for 3 days never got one scratch. The place was very eclectic as you can see in pictures. My only complaint is no fault of our host, but the humidity was very high that weekend (90-95F) therefore the nights were a little warm even though the AC unit was working like it should. Overall I highly recommend Nathalie place so book it and experience New York like a New Yorker.
PS If you like Caribbean food like Jerk chicken, Curry Goat or Ox-tail go visit Angela's just up the street. 😋�😋�😋�

Good but......
The Good: The apartment is bright and airy and well equipped with everything you need, including a balcony. It is close to the subway. There are some very good restaurants and bars near by. The owner was easy to contact and responded quickly to our enquiries.
The not so good: Although it is advertised as a one bedroom, the bedroom is not separate from the kitchen or the living room (where the other beds are). In fact the whole apartment is one big room (except for the bathroom). This may not be a problem but if you are traveling with teenagers or as two couples you might want some private space, especially if you expect that you are getting your own bedroom. Although the area is generally safe during the day, I would absolutely not walk back from the subway late at night as suggested by one reviewer - this is not Williamsburg or Carroll Gardens. Also for an $85 cleaning fee the owner of the property is being short changed by the cleaner as the property was, in our case at least, not cleaned to a standard that would satisfy some guests.

Bohemian Paradise!
Absolutely fantastic rental with the most accommodating host Nathalie. The apartment itself is spacious and decorated with style. Terrace is an added bonus ! Great neighborhood with convenience stores and coffee shops nearby. Hoping to stay again !
