We gathered for a family wedding outside of Banner Elk. This “Hidden Gem” was absolutely perfect for our family of three couples. The amenities including pool table, outside fireplace and hot tub added extra entertainment! The beds were all very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed! We loved being able to walk to meals in town! I highly recommend this home!

The house is spacious for a group of 6 adults to relax in the evening. It is clean, comfortably furnished and has a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of hot water.
The only neighbors are Lees-McRae College and a house across the road. The back deck has a view of the mountains. On July evenings, we could watch fireflies and listen to the chimes of the college bell tower -- very relaxing after a busy day. We will return.

Nice property but would stay elsewhere next time as college, literally next door, made back porch anything but private. Some construction noise during the day and light pollution at night, compromising star gazing. Beds were very comfy and attic fan was really nice.

Enjoyed this cabin. Everything went smooth.
Some confusion on the loft area that was listed when I booked but then removed and host wasn’t aware of it. Hot tub didn’t work but host responded quick and had it checked.
Would definitely stay again!

Property was as listed and very clean upon arrival. Outdoor fireplace on the deck is a great addition & a very relaxing area to spend time with friends/family. Hot tub wasn’t working at the time, but the host responded to resolve issue very promptly. If we go back to the area, we would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great getaway location!

We had a fabulous time in Banner Elk! Hidden Gem is in a great location, and it took only minutes to get to the town. The house was clean and cozy, and we enjoyed a fire each night! The porch off of the master bedroom was incredible. We enjoyed playing darts and resting in the swing bed. The bars and restaurants were great and everyone was friendly! My friends and I would definitely stay here again!

Our family loved this house! The hot tub and outdoor areas were perfect. There is construction going on at the college that is pretty close to the house but didn’t impact us at all (only getting thru it to get to the house). Management company was easy to deal with and communication was a breeze.

We enjoyed staying at the Hidden Gem. It was clean and stocked but could have used a little more attention to dusting. The indoor/ outdoor fireplace was great and we enjoyed several cozy fires. ( firewood well stocked)There are plenty of games to play.The location was very convenient to town but a bit disappointed in seeing and hearing the major construction going on next door which we weren’t expecting. Overall a really good experience and would recommend.

If you are going bring your own toilet paper! No extra anywhere in the house! We were going to have one or two adults sleep in the loft… no way! Steps up very narrow and space only meant for 2 children. Whole house needs a good scrubbing! Bathroom mats in front of sink were disgusting. And we got a call that day on our drive up that the hot tub had a small leak but it would be ok and still be usable. No way! Maybe to a small child and not 6 oncology infusion nurses who work very hard giving chemotherapy and wanted to relax in a hot tub…..Of course we made the most of a not so great cabin and spent time away from the so called Hidden Gem…and there is plenty of firewood on the front porch.

We felt like we we staying in a ski chalet dating back to th 30's. High beamed great room with massive stone fire place. Rustic old comfortable furniture. Bathrooms had all modern amenities and the one bed we used was very comfortable. TV's in all rooms, some with premium channels.
Modern kitchen with ample utensils. Great outdoor deck with amazing hot tub and hugh fireplace looking to the mountains. Complete privacy even thou downtown Banner Elk was a three block downhill walk. Good value.

Overall property was very nice and the location was amazing. We walked down to downtown Banner Elk frequently. The rental itself was ok…we are major clean freaks and actually had to reach out to the management company to have a vacuum delivered since one was not at the rental. Outdoor fireplace was great. We did not use the hot tub as it was not super clean looking and the ants are pretty bad on the hot tub and deck. The pool table was great. The management company was very fast to respond. Overall our experience was a good one although we would probably choose a different rental in the area if we return.

Loved the second fireplace under cover on the back porch. Grandkids loved the sleeping loft. One downside: a dresser in only one bedroom. When requested, Carolina Cabin Rental quickly brought hangars to help store clothing.

The pictures do not represent the current state of the cabin. It is run down now. The furniture is shot including the beds. It is moldy and dusty. The flower beds are waste high with weeds. Cob weds through out the cabin. Roof leaks on the back porch. Serious Respiratory issues during the stay. Curtains and bed spreads need to be burned. The loft ceiling height is about 4’ high, Not possible for adults. The pool room is too small to actually play pool. We had to call house keeping to reclean the cabin two times. We ended up cleaning it ourselves just to make it livable. We had to wash the bed spreads ourselves.

For someone looking for accommodations in downtown Banner Elk (and not on Beech or Sugar), this is a great house! Located behind Lees-McRae, it is in one sense "off the beaten path", yet fully close to everything in downtown Banner Elk! Rooms were spacious, deck was wonderful, and fire pit was delightful!

Great stay
The hosts were very responsive and easy to deal with. The house was in a great location and well furnished but could use some maintenance and care. All in all it was a great stay and we would come back again.

House was like a home away from home. Central Location. Walking distance to all the best restaurants. About a 10 minute drive to Sugar Mountain. House was well stocked. Beds were super comfortable. Couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. We will definitely be returning to this property.

If you want a quiet, peaceful cabin with a wide variety of restaurants and activities nearby, this is the place for you. Loved relaxing at the end of the day in the hot tub or in front of the cozy fireplace.

A Charming and rustic gem!
Beautiful cabin and setting, was close to town and slopes. We loved all the rustic detail and architecture. Cozy and comfortable for family and friends during a light snow storm. The hot tub was outstanding!

The property was great, superb location! The house is nice and we would totally stay there again. Recommend future guests have access to a vacuum cleaner, clear some of the clutter, and better dusting.
Honestly though we did love it and would book again!

Cozy mountain house
Renting this home was a nice experience. The home is clean and cozy and has lots of games and activities to use. The location is a little strange as it’s basically within the college.

Nice house
The house was very nice. First we got a call we could not check in at 4 PM (and we were almost there) because wasn’t cleaned. When we did arrive, the house looked like it still hadn’t been cleaned. They did send someone back to teclean the next day.
I would suggest bringing your own bed linens and towels. There was one towel per person. The roof sprung a leak during big rainstorm, which we notified management of.

Perfect location
Hidden Gem is such a sweet cabin with the perfect location for our family of 6. We hiked every morning at one of the very close trails (Otter Falls, Linville Falls, Emerald Overlook on Beech, Grandfather mountain) and then did lots of local activities. This little cabin was so centrally located that we had to spend minimal time in the car to get to our destinations. The campus of Lees McRae is stunning and quiet in the summer. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable. Will book again!

Relaxing Vacation
We had a wonderful time. It was a quiet and peaceful place to relax and an easy walk to downtown. Our favorite amenities were the deck and the pool table. We also liked that there were board games and puzzles to enjoy. There was plenty of room for five adults and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. We would definitely stay here again.

PRICELESS LOCATION, AWESOME VIBE
We could not have been happier with our stay. Our kids thought the loft was the coolest thing- it became their "kids only fort". The hot tub was clean, and the fact that we could walk to Lees McCrae, a beautiful park, and fabulous restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating AND an arcade.... it was everything. We kept saying, "I have such a good feeling here"... To the owners- if you ever sell Hidden Gem, please let us know before you put it on the market! We would buy this house in a heartbeat. :)

Perfect Graduation celebration!
This was the perfect place for our extended family to all meet up to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Lees McRae! We could tour the college and were so tucked away we also had all the privacy we needed. Loved the decor and amenities and the hot tub and fire places were amazing for relaxing and conversation. Great cabin!!!
