Hidden charges... despite having paid for room in advance we were all landed with a €50/person 'security' charge (very unusual!) and then having it debited by city tax and breakfast (that was already included in my room rate!). I can't help feeling a bit ripped off for a simple overnight stay on a classic car touring holiday

This is a very comfortable 4 star hotel on the outskirts of Pau with easy access back to the motorway. It has a pool and excellent parking. The rooms, whilst not large, are comfortable and have everything you need including thoughtful extras like vanity kits. The staff are kind and helpful.

I liked it all. If I had any criticism it might be that the head barman or waiter created a bit of a theatrical panic over the dinner service. The restaurant wasn’t full and the other staff members were doing just fine serving dinner calmly and politely. He seemed to create drama which was unsettling.
