Situated between two busy roads and with little else around

The staff on reception and in the restaurant were really pleasant and helpful. The shower was nice and hot with good water pressure. The room was a really nice size, with plenty storage .

The mattress was really uncomfortable and the bathroom was too small. There was quite a bit of dark mould around the bath.

Good dinner with friendly helpful waiting staff

Having to wait 20 mins to check in with nobody else in reception at the time. Poor breakfast with unhelpful staff Damaged room door frame and lock making the room vulnerable tonfirced entry.

- I booked a king size room but was given a twin - Room was a bit tired looking and in need of some refurbishment - Mouldy bathroom with cracked tiles - Shower leaked on to the bathroom floor - Sheets and towels were clean but stained - No real coffee at breakfast (only instant!)

My partner and I treated ourselves to the Suite for a night out, and it was an amazing deal for the price. There was a super comfy, king size bed, spotlessly clean, stylish bathroom, with a bath big enough for two, his 'n' hers sinks, and a large rainfall shower. There was a lounge area, hospitality area with pod coffee machine, and a desk suitable for working at. The room boasted two flat screen TVs on the divider, so you could watch either in bed and/or on the sofa. It also has air conditioning/directional heating. The room was a fantastic size, and offered great value for money. The reception staff were lovely, and we had a nightcap at the bar on our way back from the event, sneaking a peek at the restaurant and menu, which also looked really nice. The hotel is not central, but has lots of free, private parking. I was disappointed that we were not able to stay in the vicinity longer the next day, as the venue is located right next to the Welsh Coal Mining Experience and Museum, and it would have been interesting to explore the industrial heritage of the area. I guess that's a great excuse to book a repeat visit!

It's truly hard to find anything to criticise! A couple of rooms and a corridor near the gym were clearly being redecorated/redeveloped at the time of our visit, but we weren't disturbed by any noise or paint fumes. The only thing I noticed about our room was that the bottom of a couple of the voile curtains seemed to have been a bit mildewed where they had been touching the window frames.

The bed was comfortable

This is my second time in this hotel, and likely the last. There is really no appetite to relive my disappointment, but I also owe it to other coloured people to briefly explain my experience. This is comparatively a pricy hotel for the area and seems to have lived up to its name. Yet for the two nights I lodged in this hotel, there was no Internet in my room - was there for work so I had to look for a local library to complete my work. The TV does not work probably because of the Internet problem. The telephone in the room did not work. You have to always go down to the reception even if in the middle of the night to pass a massage. But all that pale compared to the discrimination that greeted all my requests and complaints. Can describe them here because I don't want to relive the experience. It just seems to me that being black is a thing that some of the staff in this hotel are yet to come to terms with.
