Well, this is lux. Great bang for the buck. The hotel is lovely. The front desk folks were super nice (and speak English, but they let me try in Spanish). Room is clean and very nice. Hot water in the shower and sink is strong and fast. Bed was excellent, and the location is great. The bar is nice (beer $4.50 is a bit high). The pool area is the best I've been to in Ecuador, amazing. Room was quiet, the doormen were very helpful. Top notch all around

When I got there, the price they presented me was higher than the price I agreed on through Booking.com. I showed them my email. Because I was using my Ecuadorian ID, they said that price wasn't for me. When I presented them a copy of my foreign passport, they talked about it, then decided they could make a copy of that and give me the foreigner rate. Weird. That has never happened to me anywhere in Ecuador (I've been everywhere). They were nice about it and did what they could. The wifi is apparently "open," without a password, in the room, that was odd. But it worked. Also, the restaurant, where I've eaten before, didn't have any menu options that day, just a buffet, which, no thanks.

Very clean amenities, comfortable beds and rooms with reduced sound and light conducive to lovely rest. Delicious range of breakfast options to start a wonderful day exploring Guayaquil. Staff very polite and focused on provision of service to honor the visitors.

I'm known for giving quite positive reviews, but I'll look for a different stay next time in Guayaquil. The furniture is outdated, the room we were given faced the interior courtyard with a view over some flower pots [though the hotel is big and it looked pretty empty], and the A/C is old and it was so loud that we couldn't keep it on during the night, so the room heated up quickly and we could barely sleep.

The hotel has good services, and the rooms are spacious. Buffet breakfast here is excellent - I really recommend it. The pool is easily accessed and nicely decorated, but it is entrenched between high walls.

The center of Guayaquil, where the Grand Hotel is located, has few tourist attractions. We did not really have much time to explore the Guayaquil downtown area, as we were in transit to Galapagos Islands.

Very good location Spacious bedrooms

This hotel I have been visiting many times over several years. Since last year all the staff have changed ( due to take over by Ascend ?) and replaced by less experienced staff, they try but who give me the feeling of being very stressed and therefore less friendly and less efficient. Several things went wrong ( like double bill when I paid the room) and it took 25 minutes for a taxi to come, while they promised within 5 to 10 minutes. Also the restaurant does not have the atmosphere and a menu now with less choice as compared to before. Some work to do to get to the same level as before.

Very friendly staff who consistently tried to improve my stay. I was also pleasantly surprised by the inside courtyard looking onto the pool, which gave a very nice atmosphere to the hotel. The gym facilities were super. Location was convenient coming from the airport but also for walking around the main parts of the city on the one day layover. Only I felt like my room was a bit dark but then I spent most of the day in it whereas there are some more pleasant common areas. All in all, a solid 4 star hotel and good value for money.

All the staff at the Grand Hotel were lovely, friendly, and helpful - we felt taken care of and safe - They ordered us taxis, arranged for an early breakfast the day we left, and made dinner reservations for us. The room was clean and roomy and comfortable temperature - the facilities, including the restaurant, bar, rooftop gym and pool table, and pool and lounge areas were all beautiful. The mosaic iguana overlooking the pool is amazing.

I thought the bartender and their ability to make a drink was just 'meh'. The prices for drinks at the bar was really expensive, especially considering it wasn't a very well made drink and the prices for drinks in town. I recommend not drinking at the hotel.

Loved the pool. Beautiful decoration and nice size. Food was very good too though only really ate snacks and breakfast but very happy. Staff are excellent, friendly and so helpful

the staff is courteous without being pretentious, the amenities are plentiful, and it was clean and comfortable.

the breakfast could be better.English style breakfast catering to Europeans isn’t everyone’s, ahem, cup of tea. perhaps a little more diversity and more typical Ecuadorian options would be nice.

The hotel is located at the very centre of Guayaquil with everything in a walkable distance. It has many facilities for guests to use.
