It was exactly as described and better. Super relaxing. The 2nd floor deck/terrace is so comfortable with chairs tables, rocking chairs a couple of hammocks and even a couple of BBQs if you fancy buying fish from the fisherman maybe 100meters away. Will definitely return. Oh, we got the base room no a/c but with 2 stand up type fans. Slept well. Quite.

The hotel is well located in Taganga, a nice fisherman’s town. I definitely prefer the atmosphere here rather than in Santa Marta. Rooms are spacious and clean. There is a big terrace and a patio, a small swimming pool but I definitely recommend to go out and enjoy the beach which is only a couple of minutes walking ! The staff is really friendly and they helped us with lot of tips about the area, plus they booked the boats for the excursions to the beaches and Tayrona park. Breakfast is not included so enjoy a coffee on the bay facing the sea side or a delicious arepa at one of the small stands on the street.

As everywhere in Colombia, especially the coast and during weekends, you can hear loud music until late.

The host/staff is really nice and can tell you a lot about activities in the neighborhood. it’s clean, comfortable and a nice quiet getaway.

Wilmar was a great host - kind knowledgable, helpful, and speaks English. The other staff are also very nice. The room was good - it had 2 fans, which I needed as it was quite warm and humid. Decent size clean bathroom. There is a small pool out the back which was great for cooling off. The internet worked quite well, only had a few dropped connections during my work zoom meetings. If you arrive by taxi I suggest getting them to drop you off at the beach and walk along the foreshore the rest of the way. The roads to the hostel are terrible and the taxi driver tried to charge me extra for the trip.

The fridge was jam packed all the time with lots of beer and soft drinks bottles so there wasn't a whole heap of room to store food. I was only there a few nights so I didn't plan on cooking so it didn't matter too much to me.

the terrace was a great place to relax in the evenings, overall it was cozy, the host was very helpful, we always asked him for travel suggestions and he gladly helped

Taganga in itself was not nice at all for us, BUT the hostel really really made a difference. We got robbed (with a knife and everything) so our phones, money, bankcard were all gone. Meanwhile my boyfriend also had heavy food poisoning. The owner of the hostel was really so nice, he did everything he could to help us and to make it as comfortable as possible for us. Also the breakfast was the best breakfast we had in entire Colombia. We staid as super expensive chique locations too, and these could not tip the breakfast at Hotel Casa D'mer Taganga. The pancakes in particular were just perfect (especially compared to the fried/scrambled egg at every other place, which get's a bit boring after a while)!

The hostel itself is just perfect, nothing negative to say. It was one of the best hostels we've staid at. Yet, Taganga for us was just not so nice since we got robbed. When we were at the police station we met another girl who was also robbed and also had two friends who were robbed (in the middle of the street and nobody helped them, I guess people are scared themselves - which I can't really blame them for). So overall, Taganga is nice but for us it was not worth it, if you go there then be carefull where you go to. DO NOT go to the beaches at the left side of Taganga because that's one of the most dangerous and pore areas of Santa Marta so not safe at all!

Very friendly and warm staff, very attentive and professional. I enjoyed the stay at Hotel Casa D'mer, the room was very clean and it was a very good deal for the price! I would definitely stay here again!

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. It’s a peaceful hotel with a lovely pool and terrace area. Location is perfect- right on the beach but slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip. Breakfast is also brilliant !
