Lovely place, friendly staff and great location
10.0 / 10.0
we had such a great stay in this unique little gem. Firstly it looks amazing. From the antiques to murals and the water features upstairs on the peaceful roof garden. The place was clean and had a good kitchen and the bedroom was quirky and very comfortable. But what we loved most was the staff. Julio was such an incredible host, so friendly and always open to having a chat. He allowed us to keep our bags there whilst we stayed the night in Tayrona and did laundry whilst we were gone. Unfortunately we ended up in hospital on the day we were supposed to be leaving and he and Juan were so helpful and accommodating and made to sure to check that we were ok. That kindness goes a long way and we’re so glad we were staying there instead of somewhere less personal.

Hotel closed to the center, located in a quiet street. The Mercado Central where the buses fo Minca and Tayrona leave, is about 5-10 minutes walk, which is perfect. Nice terrasse on the roof. Water available 24/7. Kitchen available. The room was confortable. The orner was friendly. The wifi was good enough to work.
The shower looked liked it hasn't been cleaned. Hair, half used soap and bin not emptied.

It is a very special house, with lots of decorations on the walls, and a beautiful roof terrace. Once we entered, the owner (Julio) explained us that we should feel at home and use the whole house as if it’s our own. it was so lovely!!! The roof terrace is an amazing place to chill.
the location is really central, but far enough from the Main Street that it’s nice and quiet in the evening.
that we couldn’t stay longer :)

10min walking distance to bus station to Minca and Tayrona
Only cold shower (which is normal in Colombia)

Very close to the centre of Santa Marta, close to the market and shops, also close to the beach all while being in a fairly quiet location. The hosts were very friendly and ready to help whenever asked.
The property is quite dark, humid, little ventilation, very small bathroom, air conditioning ineffective in our room due to the hight of the ceiling. Old and almost unnecessary furniture in our room

The garden on the roof top is really nice and good for the breakfast and an evening with a selfmade cocktail in the kitchen we could use. Also the cousin of the owner was really nice (she was there to take care of us during our stay). The placement of the hotel is quite nice, it is quiet and not too far from the Santa Marta beach (you can swim there but it is directly next to the industrial port) and the party and restaurant mile of Santa Marta. The busstation to Taganga and Tayrona is close. Only thing is that it is directly to a bad neighborhood, you shouldn't take a wrong turn after ten... (A few locals warned us).
The furniture is antique, but you have quite a mixture of all european countries and periods, so there's a lot to discover.
The house is really safe and in the last street of a good neighborhood. Bathroom was nice. It is more like an airbnb, I think there are just 3 or 4 rooms. Also we were the only guests, so we couldn't let our luggage there until our flight went in the evening, because the host was only there for us and left shortly after our stay.
We found a single dead cockroach, but I guess that's really good for this region in Colombia. The host just speaks Spanish (no problem for us, but you should know that!).

It looks like a scene from a Garcia Marquez novel. Such a beautiful old colonial building, lovely roof terrace, and the decor is magnificent. You really feel immersed in a vision of Colombia that you probably didn't believe existed any more. And Indira, the woman who runs the place, is lovely. Always ready to chat, but she'll leave you alone too, if that's what you prefer.
Look, it's a colonial guesthouse, not a bland, generic business hotel. You don't get the same minibar/room service experience, but it's not supposed to be like that. It's a quirky, stylish, artistic sort of place, not a Hilton.

Staff is realy nice and helpful. Location only 2 blocks from Cathedral
Upper rooms are really bad. Bed mattress was so hard that i doubted if i am sleeping on the floor or in the bed? Bathroom so small, that i hit my head several times to low entrance. Shower smaller than my hand from elbow to fingers, sink almost touch wc, as its so close. And worse thing - smell from the sink and shower. Sorry but i would not come back for second time. Maybe first floor rooms are different, i can guess from pictures

Beautiful room, living room, rooftop garden…beautiful every corner and every detail. Comfy and clean beds. A/C works well and is quiet. Useful kitchen, free nice coffee every morning.
Good location. 2 blocks from Cathedral Basilica. A local food truck market serve whole day just 1 block away.
Nice host always be there for guests.
I hope I can stay longer here. Highly recommend.
Nothing. Only restroom is a little bit small for big guys, and there is no hot water for shower. I am totally ok with that, just feel like I should mention it.

Position waking distance to the center and Victor the manager of the place.
Victor has been really helpful during our stay in the way he could .
WiFi.
The room looks bigger than the actual size you can’t open 2 medium size luggage inside if you want to still walk around.
The hotel needs renovation, especially the decorations are falling apart as well the chair in the room.
But if you like old style it’s the place for you.
No hot water or proper ventilation in the bathroom.
