it is winter at the moment and it took a while for the room temperature to be right. it wasn’t really a problem.

The room and bedding was comfortable.

It was a rather cold night when we stayed. The lounge and dining area for visitors was comfortable, but it was a big room and some consideration of a heat pump or larger scale heating system could be of value.

Lovely house and so well set up. Hosts friendly and accommodating. Had a wonderful stay.

Hosts Jackie and Daniel are wonderful. Cooking us dinner that night was a treat and then a delicious brekky the next day was a great way to start our day. They made us feel right at home. To top it off the house is so quiet being off the main road. Loved it!

Would have been good to have outdoor furniture on the deck off the lounge overlooking the beautifully kept grounds.

Jackie and Daniel are excellent hosts, who provide a wonderful reception, cooked breakfast and coffee, good conversation if you love a chat is an added bonus and have the availability to cater to your needs on request. For us, it was cooking us a lovely New Years Eve dinner and dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed our impromptu stay at Matakohe House, as we decided to embark on our return journey home a day earlier and thankfully for all a cancellation at Matakohe House. Extremely comfortable and clean and felt like home away from home. We feel as though we have gained a friendship meeting these two lovely people.

It is far from any center. Jacky can serve dinner, otherwise buy your own food before arriving. Our stay was off peak season.

Jackie and Daniel made our overnight stay so comfortable and enjoyable. We highly recommend a stay at Matakohe House.

Beautiful room, exceptional hospitality, fantastic location

This was a great location right in town, but still with a nice rural outlook. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the verandah gave additional outdoor space.

No venting in the bathroom, condensation made everything quite wet, but then it was a very damp day so that might be more the reason.

Convenient, warm and welcoming, lovely decor. Comfortable bed and clean facilities. Hosts are charming, friendly and helpful.
