Going home

The staff was exceptional. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel at home. The food was amazing and even small requests were granted.
The shower was slightly leaky, but again the staff were amazing in checking in with us and making sure we were well taken care of.

Have stayed before so knew what to expect. Situation is excellent, the rooms comfortable and clean. Menu is not overly extensive but the food is super. Above all the staff are friendly, helpful and approachable.
First class visit, again! Will always be my first choice when travelling to Islay.
Power points and desk space limited when trying to work. But a minor niggle and only applicable if actually on a work trip. Wi-fi signal was also a little wayward, but again a minor issue and for those working on the islands it is to be rather expected.

location, food and hotel room.
only 2 pillows on double bed and they were too soft.

The staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel is cozy and has a nice bar, but our favorite thing was the made to order breakfast. It was the best we had in two weeks in Europe. We would definitely stay here again.

Location is fabulous- our rooms had views over the lighthouse and onwards to the Paps of Jura. The location is also great to explore the west side of Islay, which is really beautiful. It was also dog friendly. The staff at breakfast and dinner were really friendly.
Value for money is difficult to balance - On the one hand I have great sympathy. It was high season (July) and everywhere is experiencing massive challenges (recovery from the pandemic, inflation, Brexit, staff shortages) plus life on the islands is expensive due to logistics. However, £300 per night B&B for a normal no frills double room is pretty steep. Toiletries were minimal. The shower was pretty weak and went from light shower to a dribble. In contrast, 2 days prior we’d stayed on the mainland in a truly gorgeous boutique 5* hotel with a large room, super-king size bed, amazing views over the islands and Mull and extras (eg lovely toiletries, fresh milk for tea etc) for a cost of £150 a night B&B. This said, Islay is a stunning island and we we’re really glad we went.

Location & ambiance. Dining was exceptional.
A little overpriced but little else on offer.

Terriffic food, great staff, and great craic at the bar. just as you’d hope from a Scottish island hostelry
Rooms a bit dated. Could do with a mild 2000s makeover.

When i booked the room the hotel came back to me and asked if i wanted to reserve for dinner as it is a busy time( Whisky festival) so i did and also booked a table for two on the day we arrived as we had to stay in a different place as the hotel was fully booked that date.
We arrived for our first dinner and were welcomed by very friendly staff. dinner was great and we were looking forward to our stay in the hotel in two days time.
We checked in the second time and were shown the room who was very nice with sea view at the back and a view at the front as well. the room was very cosy in a traditional style.
As we were hotel guests this time we were guided to the dining room for hotel guests for our dinner( the first time we at in the lovely cosy bar) which was very modern and absolutely cosy.
The whole experience was more than we hoped for and we will be coming back!
There wasn't really anything negative, if i had to think of something i guess my toes where sticking over the mattress this time :) which didn't bother me as it almost always happens everywhere :) i had a great sleepy ;)

Good location. Nice, cosy bar. The room was comfortable.
Whilst this was a nice hotel we felt it was very over-priced - if we'd paid half I would have felt happy with the experience. Whilst all the serving staff were lovely and efficient, it became clear that the managers/owners were discontented with their staff, on more than one occasion in the few hours we were there. It was unpleasant to hear a manager/owner bad-mouth a staff member to me as a random guest. The food was ok, but not exceptional.

freat location by by the sea. Hotel full of character.

The hotel is in the most picturesque part of the island, stunning views !! The staff were extremely friendly from the time we arrived, at meals and until we left. Bar staff are helpful with what you would like to drink or which whiskey to try, there knowledge of whiskey is very impressive, ask questions and the stories will flow. We had a delightful time and will certainly be back for more tastings on Isle of Islay,
Nothing not to like, perfect stay .

We ordered a very limited breakfast but what we got was excellent, the location had stunning views. The dinner was delicious. Staff was exceptional and accommodating!! The locations are all a bit spread out on Islay but the hostess made sure we had all the transportation we needed.
No true room for improvement, all of our expectations were met and the staff was very helpful.

Friendliness of the staff. The room was excellent with outstanding views over Loch Indaal. Food at the restaurant was excellent and the bar has to be one of the best in the world
My habitual gripe for all hotels. All hotels have signs saying that it would be better not to change the towels every day and to put towels on the rails to keep them for another day. I agree, it's far better for the environment. Yet every hotel seems to change the towels anyway, regardless of where you leave them and, unfortunately, Port Charlotte was no exception.

The room was lovely, the food in the restaurant/bar was fantastic and the location was impossibly pretty. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful. Absolutely loved staying here and would return without hesitation.
Nothing. I was only sad we had to leave.
