We stayed at the Retreat which is a clean, modern, well-furnished bungalow overlooking the Severn Estuary. We stayed in October so the weather was mixed but the view was exceptional, changing every day with the weather. We had everything we needed - wifi, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine etc - and the hot tub was very luxurious. There is a lot to do in the area. We would recommend Tintern Abbey which was very close and a lovely day out, with lots of information and plenty of places to eat in the vicinity. Don't forget the 20mph speed limit in Wales as the accommodation is right by the border. We also went walking in the Forest of Dean but don't trust the route markings in the forest, double-check before you set off!! A very kind lady stopped to give us a lift back to the car park :). There appeared to be plenty of outdoor activities for children and Chepstow and Cheltenham racecourses are nearby too so lots for all tastes. There are plenty of shops, including farm shops, and supermarket within 10 mins so no problem with supplies. The directions to the property were clear and sent in good time and the owners were easy to contact. We were so grateful that they went above and beyond in solving a major problem for us. We didn't see them very much as we were mostly out and about but they are on site and very approachable. I would not hesitate in recommending this accommodation to others.
