Location was excellent—right in the center city and across the street from the Basilica di Santa Maria dei Service. We called the apartment our “palazzo.”

The Strada Maggiore is an echo chamber and passing trucks make impressive sounds through open windows at night. We spent years in Manhattan and we’re not bothered but others might be.

The apartment location is incredibly central and convenient. The apartment itself is huge and the building is beautiful, but aspects of the apartment clearly need attention and investment from the management company.

Most of the furniture in the living room is well beyond repair and should be replaced - there were multiple chairs/sofas with large holes and tears in the upholstery and a few chairs had clearly unstable legs. If you have to cover a couch with a curtain, perhaps it’s time to get rid of the couch. The fixtures in the bathroom / kitchen are very dated and don’t operate very well. The shower head leaks heavily and the dishwasher/laundry can overpower the breaker and cause outages. The kitchen lacked basic amenities (coffee, oil, salt/pepper, trash bags, paper towels) and isn’t really set up to be used. The bathroom towels/bed linens left much to be desired and we ended up having to share towels since we weren’t provided enough. The overall state of the furniture and fixtures was of particular concern since the apartment charges a 300 EUR security deposit on arrival (which was not stated in the listing before booking) that will only be removed once a physical inspection is completed (which requires an appointment before checkout - taking away time from your trip). We had an early flight (6am) and couldn’t schedule an appointment and just had to trust that we’d get our money back - which is never ideal. The management company also insists that you clean/ take out the trash (around the corner from the building) before leaving, which also was a pain at 3:30am. The apartment location is a selling point, but it is also on a main thoroughfare and across from a piazza, which had students yelling/partying until after midnight on most nights. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here without investments from the management company. It feels like they’re cheap/cutting corners, which takes away from the experience.

Our flight was late so our check in was 11 pm. We were still met but had to pay EU40 which is fair.

We were not told that we could not have more than one major electrical appliance going at the one time. For instance, we had the oven and the electric kettle on and the safety switch was tripped. Other combinations would also trip the switch, eg. oven and washing machine, washing machine and kettle. The two couches were worse than shabby and didn’t look too clean despite one couch having a bed spread over it. The couches really let down the apartment. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. Not enough towels were provided but new bed were provided when I asked for them. The new ones originally provided were grey and old. They should be completely replaced. Because of these issues, I do not think I would stay there again, nor can I recommend the apartment to friends. A little tender loving care would go a long way towards making the apartment a truly wonderful place to stay in.
