Location was good. Lovely old building. The birds at dusk/ dawn added to the charm.

The door to the bathroom had a slight lip which I tripped on. Perhaps it could be painted with a flouro colour?

location is perfect for main shopping area and parks.

my own fault did not ask if lift in hotel. having just come out of hospital had trouble climbing the 40 steps to room.

Check in not until 3.pm.room had sink but could not use,out of order,no water in room sign telling me do not use sink, primitive in the extreme!

Be very careful booking a room here in summer. Some are on the top floor, not air conditioned. The room I had was unbearably stuffy and hot. It was 38°c outside and much, much hotter than that in the room all through the night. No airflow, and to be honest not ethical to be renting out those rooms during summer. I grew up in this area and am fine with heat, but the tiny room was an outrageous heat-trap and impossible to cool down. I wet hand towels, put them in the mini fridge and slept with the damp towels over my body all night. It was that bad. The room smelt like cigarettes and stale rum with crusty stains on the blanket and a tiny window which opened onto a noisy generator and smoking rooftop beer garden. The cold water taps in the shared bathrooms were hot until later on at night when it cooled down to luke warm. Despite being a beautiful old hotel in a great location, it’s definitely not worth it - a very special form of torture for $65, avoid at all costs.

Bathrooms weren't cleaned the three nights we were there (shared bathrooms, 20 odd rooms and only 3 ladies showers and toilets) By the time we left they smelt of dead fish. Fan above double bunk nearly took my daughters head off just sitting on the bed, way too close, very dangerous. No mirror in room and very long way from bathroom. Air conditioner very old, very noisy (couldn't leave it on while sleeping and couldn't talk over it during day) and it didn't really cool the room. Fridge and air con hadn't been turned on prior to arrival so room was unbearably hot and with arrival at 4pm the air con wouldn't cool room down for sleep.

every time I sleep there I get bites from bugs also they need to get a lock on the womens toilet as it’s unsafe

Excellent location on the river with its beautiful walkways and art deco buildings along the esplanade. Around the corner from the main shopping and coffee mall. We had room with a balcony which I'd recommend.

Pillows were flat as a tack, no bedside lights, room size was a bit of a squeeze.
