I loved the staff! They were very friendly and receptive. The restaurant and food are amazing! I highly recommend it! The rooms were a bit sub-par. I will definitely come back to the restaurant!

The towels were too rough and the carpets need to be washed. The corridor and bedroom carpets are in need of a good wash! The pillows were too uncomfortable and the mattresses were uneven. The bathroom also needs better lighting.

10 minutes away from Winterberg. Rooms are really clean. Personal are very polite.

Excellent service and breakfast

The Schneiders are very kind and welcoming people, with a smooth cooperation with the hotel personnel, which creates a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. You can see that everyone is very busy to cater to the many customers, but there is no stress. The restaurant and its cozy bar offer a pleasant and comfortable stay to anyone. Besides business people and vacationers, the locals visit as well. The restaurant food is really excellent, refined yet hearty, made with authentic recipes. And the breakfast is something wonderful, with this lovely older lady with a big smile bringing you pofs of fresh brewed coffee, and setting out these delicious heart shaped waffles made according to local recipe. Then there is the rest of the great buffet that starts your day off with a very happy belly; homemade jellies, delicious egg and fish salads, crispy rolls, and much more of high quality, fresh and tasty items. Yes, good food makes half the trip....! The surrounding area is terrific, with a mere 12 km up the very doable mountain road to Winterberg, or a few km down the road to the langlauf or snowshoe trails. There is plenty of parking at the hotel, very convenient and snow free. Note: the busstop to Winterberg's ski areas is right across the road! At the end of a fabulous day in the mountains, you return to the warmth of Gasthof Schneider. We'll be back, summer or winter.

Not that we noticed. Even the single rooms were optimally set up, with plenty of room to move about and stow your stuff. Very clean bed and bathroom, every day.
