We found out 5 or 6 days before our trip, that the island would be reopening to visitors amidst this pandemic and against our states, and their own states stay at home orders. Even though we had been messaging trying to reschedule the trip because of the pandemic for weeks, they told us they were doing it on a week by week basis, and once the announcement was made, VRBO, and Surf or Sound would not answer our calls to try and cancel or anything, so we felt forced against our will to go on this trip or just loose our money. Upon arrival, the house was a stark disappointment after looking at all of the beautiful pictures of the house. We thought we had paid for early check in, but of course neither company would respond to messages to let us know what time, and the app only showed normal check in time, as well as incorrect price breakdowns on our trip. Our first night in this house, we arrived to a funky smell of stank beach water and butthole, that I guess was from the house sitting empty for two months due to the pandemic. The main & 2nd levels of the house were scorching hot, but the third floor was icy cold. We realized the heat was still turned on the second level so switched it over to AC and waited. To our demise, hours passed by and the lower levels remained scorching hot. We called the number several times and eventually got on to someone that was able to contact the maintenance guy, and he brought four window units to cool the house down the next morning. A tropical storm hit the second day, so the window units were pointless by then. But other than that the house was generally broke in. Several doorway frames were dry rotting and falling apart, bathrooms had moldy rotten smell in them and one of them looked like a leak in the roof have recently been repaired. Some of the vents in the house had buildup of some kinda black substance, and the furniture all smelled stale, and of sweaty man I guess from years of use. The emails said they were taking extra cleaning steps, but the house smelled fresher and cleaner after we’d been in it cleaning the stank out for several days. We had to bring our own food on the island because the stores weren’t prepared for the increase from local traffic to tourism. The trip was so disappointing with The only things open being 30 minutes down or up the island, and the weather was so horrible we left halfway through the week. I will never book with VRBO, or surf or sound, even if it was FREE!!!

The pictures online aren't really what it looked liked. It needs upgrading , beds are terrible we left early because so uncomfortable. the fans and walls full of dust and the beds had dirty sheets and pillowcases on them still had hair and dirt on them from previous reventers . To the positive the location is good checkin good I will stay in the area again just not that house

Hurricane Dorian delayed our arrival a few days and other then no toilet paper in the house , it was very comfortable

This property was excellent for our diverse family. Good areas for together time, and enough other areas to provide private time.
