Roundwood house is excellent in every way

I wanted to leave early and it was no trouble to make me a beautiful breakfast at 6.30am

It was a privilege to stay in this beautifully restored Georgian mansion complete with historically accurate furnishings and artefacts. The ground were superb with lovely evening walk around the property and interesting quirks like the woodshed and the library. There is a goose that thinks it is a peacock and an automatic lawn mower that is regularly attached by the goose. The breakfast and evening meals were cordon-bleu standard - Paddy is to be congratulated; and the staff were all helpful and encouraging - a tribute to Rachel. Roundwood House is a special place and will remain in our memories.

Rachel and Paddy had gone a long way to make everything superb. There wasn't anything we didn't like! When we were there it was a very hot spell and like everywhere we stayed, we could have done with a single sheet rather than a duvet.

We had an evening meal that was very good and an excellent breakfast. The beds were comfortable and the house really quirky. Unfortunately, there was no kettle in the room

Dinner was only at 8pm and I would have preferred to eat earlier. It was difficult to find as no postcode was supplied and there was no internet reception in the hills.
