Breakfast was healthful, satisfying, and tasty - delicious fruit jams and yogurt were made by Nathalie, and she always baked something new every day. Dinners including fresh fish, beautifully prepared by Nari and Nathalie were excellent. It was nice that tea and coffee were available at any time during the day. The pension is an easy short walk to the village and one can reach many views and beaches by bicycle. Outings led by Nari, especially the day trip by motorboat out to several motu, which includes snorkeling spots and a traditional meal, were well worth the time (we went twice). We also went out to see whales and to meet artisans in ukulele making, raufara (pandanus leaf) weaving (hats, bags, etc), and carving. Nathalie and Nari work incredibly hard but still somehow have energy to be charming, animated, and happy company for the guests. We found that they went above and beyond what we could have hoped for, and are genuine, welcoming, and generous people. They made special efforts to help and understand us, though we spoke nearly no French and understood only slightly more than we could speak. Nathalie is modest but in fact her English was great.

This isn't really about the pension per se, but just a note about the climate: expect clothing or towels to take quite a long time to thoroughly dry on a clothes line (we were there at the end of August). Also, there are several snack shops in town but they were open for only limited hours when we were there (during the pandemic); but with all the great food at the pension, we didn't really feel inconvenienced by it. WiFi works best, it seemed, at night when the rest of the island is not using as much bandwidth.

Nari and Nath are the most amazing hosts and the experience was authentic. Nari is a proper local, descendant of the local kings if I understand correctly. He has abundant knowledge and a true passion for his island and culture. Nath was so sweet and an amazing cook using mostly ingredients they grow themselves or caught by the local fisherman. I was seeking to get as far away from London and City life precisely for this experience. I was not disappointed!

The hosts, Nath and Nadi were excellent. The food was great. The Saturday trip to the Motu and cookout was unforgettable. Location is good with an easy walk to the market, beach, pizza food truck.

We liked everything.

The warmth and hospitality was exceptional and the efforts made to meet my vegetarian diet were deliciously received.
