The only good thing is the location, right on top of a mall and subway station.

The room was filthy when we entered. Someone had spilt a drink under the sofa (which we moved so both of us could sit together to take a conference call at the desk) and then dust had clearly been sticking to it for some time. It was truly disgusting. Furniture in the room was also dusty. It was as if our room hadn't been cleaned for months. Staff were apologetic and sent us cakes to apologise. The minibar wasn't cold. The socket next to the bed didn't work and other sockets were so stiff it was impossible to plug stuff in. The bathroom is separated from the main room by two rickety sliding doors, so isn't very private. When we tried to order room service staff couldn't understand us, I don't know why they don't either teach staff their English menu or just use numbers!! And then the item we wanted was unavailable. When we went down to breakfast, a member of staff shoved a bill in our face without even asking, not even a 'good morning'. We had in fact booked breakfast as part of our stay. There were long queues for breakfast (though they do warn you about that) and greasy, visibly dirty plates. I don't know why anyone would stay here since there's no shortage of other good hotels in Tianjin.

Highly recommended. Very comfortable bed, great breakfasts, nice gym and very well situated.

Lack of tourist maps and the food in the executive lounge was cold.

Courtyard by Marriott Tianjin Hongqiao room had everything you needed without missing anything essential like fridge, hair dryer, safe box, cable tv etc. The breakfast was decent, they make omelet on request. The restaurant had steak on ala carte.

Only thing is that this hotel does not have a swimming pool. But, for a day trip, i did not need one.
