This house is very well maintained and furnished! The location, 2 steps from a private beach, is fantastic and the house itself is very enjoyable for a family of 6. The kids had a great time running through the grass labyrinth leading to the beach. The area is full of discoveries : sceneries, fishermen villages, delicacies, beaches, crafts, seafood, blueberries, etc. The owners are very nice and responsive. We had a great time!

The property is truely special. Amazing views, multiple spots to explore, culminating to a sandy private beach that is larger than a lot of public ones. The house itself is comfortable with its own personality that encourages you to slow down, read a book, look at the ocean, play some monopoly. It's a wonderful spot to spend time.

It was our third stay at this property and it continues to be a lovely place to stay. Thank you!! We hope to have a fourth. A real home away from home.

This property has everything we were looking for. Out in the country with no close neighbors. The property was very clean. Peter and Cindy stopped by to introduce themselves. They were very friendly. The best part was the views of Holmes Bay were wonderful when the fog was gone.

Can't say enough good about this property or the owners. Peter and Cindy are fantastic. Great communication, made sure we had everything we needed (we did!). Beautifully maintained, quiet, clean property on 5 acres with a path to the beach. Great place to relax and unwind. Can't wait to go back.

House has everything you need, with a very well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed the bay view and strolls on the beach. Supermarket and restaurants are a short drive away in Machias, but we also enjoyed cooking on the gas grill. We did a day trip to Campobello which was great. Many amazing areas to hike just a short drive away. Overall a very enjoyable stay!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Katie Dove Beach Farm. Open fields with wild flowers, blueberries and veggie garden roll downhill to a private beach on Holmes Bay. Lovely home with plenty of space, well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. Kayaking amidst osprey, eagles and seals. Nearby hikes with splendid views. Gracious hospitality offered by hosts Peter & Cindy. A wonderful getaway!

We loved this stay - it was clean, comfortable, and the property is absolutely stunning. The beach and meadow are incredibly picturesque. We picked and ate blueberries, apples, and fresh veggies from the garden. The house is well-equipped with supplies and kitchen essentials, and we felt incredibly supported by our very kind hosts. Some food and shopping is 15-20 minutes away and there are other amenities and touristy things 30-45 minutes away. Lots of outdoor activities within a quick drive. Highly recommended for a family of four!

On our second visit to the Katie Dove Beach Farm in three years, we felt welcomed and at home. Peter and Cindy have thought of everything to make visitors' experience seamless--information on local trips and sights, complete equipment for the simple or complex dining needs--a home away from home. The views from the ocean-facing porch offer hours of relaxing moments as the tide from Holmes Bay, and the Bay of Fundy beyond, rise and fall.

This was our second time staying here and it was just perfect. It truly is a home away from home. Great hosts, location and comfortable surroundings. Couldn't be happier.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here. The house was clean and comfortable and the owners were so thoughtful and accommodating to our family. We ended up getting in late and they turned the light on for us and came by the next day to give our kiddos beach toys (which were a huge hit). For a family to vacation, it can sometimes be a bit stressful, but I was happy to let the kids run around outside and just chill the rest of the time at the house and down by the beach. We commented as we left that it didn’t even feel like we needed a vacation from our vacation.

We loved our home away from home and would definitely come back. We had everything we needed and hosts and were welcoming. Loved the views from the back porch areas.

We escaped the brutal hot and humid weather from the south and stayed near Cutler ME with temps in the high 50's to mid 70's! The property had nicely mowed paths to a private beach. The beach has some shells and sea glass that washes up. The neat thing is the tide will go out at some point each day emptying out the entire basin. Then gradually it fills back up about 8 hours later. Never saw that before. The house is located close to hiking trails like Trailhead: Cutler Bold Coast Trail which really has spectacular views of the rock cliffs. And as you start out you are opposite the tiny town of Cutler which should be on a postcard as it's very picturesque. If you are concerned about eating spots, you will want to go to Machias, ME which is about 15 minutes from the house. Helens restaurant who touts shirts reading: "Death by Pie" is really an outstanding restaurant. Especially liked the meatloaf grilled cheese and the blueberry goatcheese burger! Peter and Cindy the owners of the house were outstanding in their communication and welcome! While Bar Harbor and the other lower coastal towns are nice, if you want to really get away come up to Cutler and reach out to Peter and Cindy, and have a great vacation!

We stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary and could not have had a better stay. The house is classic Maine, comfortable and unpretentious, but the location is what it’s all about. The private beach that comes with the property was the highlight. We watched many beautiful sunsets from it. The location is close to a lot of great harbors of the bold coast. We were able to go sea kayaking and hiking. Peter and Cindy were friendly and accommodating hosts who were fun to interact with and genuinely nice people. Katie Dove Farm is a perfect place to disconnect and relax from the hectic pace of everyday life. The house is an older family farm home but it has been beautifully maintained and is equipped with everything you need for a getaway. Peter and Cindy are attentive hosts and make themselves available for helpful advice, travel information and any problems that might arise. We enjoyed cooking our own meals in the spacious kitchen and outdoor grill but we also enjoyed a lovely lunch at Helen’s Restaurant in Machias. We walked on the beach, hiked at various nearby preserves and state parks and just sat and enjoyed watching the tide come in and out from the back deck. If you are wanting to explore Maine’s Bold Coast, I highly recommend Katie Dove Beach Farm as your home away from home for as long as you can stay.

We absolutely loved our stay and would like to return! The house was super clean and had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The property is so beautiful with a view of the bay from the deck and an easy walk to the private beach. We enjoyed picking blueberries for a salad and gathering eggs from 3 hens on site for our breakfasts. The owners were so friendly and generous in offering to let us get fresh vegetables from the garden and the eggs of course. Such a wonderful, relaxing place to stay!

Right location to visit Lubec, Campabello, and the Machine area or just relax and watch the tides and osprey. Well equiped kitchen and owners near for any problem or questions about the area. Lots of different area in the house for quiet time, watching TV, visiting or doing puzzles.

It had all the familiarty and needs of home while being a special vacation with ocean views and a private beach. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. So happy to have found it!

The renters were so nice!! They set us up in their beautiful property, and we had an amazing time! The house was awesome, and the private beach was truly private, and it was so much fun! Me and my wife enjoyed the quiet week to ourselves, and we greatly enjoyed the peace and quiet this property had. We loved our stay!!

We stayed at the Katie Dove Farm to hike the Bold Coast and travel around Down East Maine. Great location. Spacious home with well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the deck overlooking Holmes Bay each evening, and walking on the private beach. A really nice getaway spot!

The place is peaceful and has its own little beach. We like the house, older but clean and charming. The owner was very helpful and told us all about this part of Maine so we knew where to go and what to see or what places were good to eat etc. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!

If you are looking to relax and view the "real" Maine, this property is for you. Peter is wonderful and the house is exceptionally clean and spacious. The property is stunning.

The views shown on here don’t do it justice. Waking up and walking outside in the morning is truly special. The owners are great friendly people and it was an overall joy to stay here.

house is nice, furnishings are collection of neat older stuff in good condition. Owner is good at keeping in touch. Back porch has nice bay view and having the beach so accessible is great. What knocks this house from 4 stars is the size of the beds (full not queen, one is super-short, neither are for tall people), water stains on the kitchen ceiling tiles ( a small leak was being fixed above around the the time we were there), and that location is on the main road with car's headlights coming right into the curtainless living room. Owner did bring out a whole cartful of beach toys for our kid and is really friendly. All in all, a really nice and well restored house with great porch spaces.

An amazing stay at Katie Dove. Hiking the bold coast of Maine Lived up to its name with picturesque views, and wild lands. We were treated to wild winds and roiling ocean, all the while enjoying it from the warmth and comfort of Katie Dove...we can’t wait to go back.

My husband and parents enjoyed a peaceful get-a-way at Katie Dove Beach Farm. Peter and Cindy were very hospitable , friendly and generous. We appreciated all the local recommendations they gave us. They even went above and beyond and provided us with some fresh clams! We enjoyed walking along the private beach, taking a few dips in the cold water, cooking in the spacious kitchen and taking in the views from the porch and firepit. My husband and our 3 children (14, 10 & 6) stayed for a week from August 30th-September 6th. We arrived to the lovely Katie Dove cottage after a 9 hour drive and we immediately felt relaxed. The property is magical. The smell of the ocean is deliteful. The cottage is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals and the grill was also available for use. The owner Peter is very helpful, friendly and informative. Peter and Cindy are also very generous. We were allowed to pick Blueberries, Apples and fresh vegetables from their garden. The beach is spectacular! It is very large and very private. The evening low tide allowed us to dig for mussels which we grilled and had for dinner that night. It is a very muddy business, but the kids had a blast finding them. ***Make sure you wash the mud off outside***!!!! The town is very low key and not a tourist trap. We loved this! Check out: Jasper Beach an all pebble beach, Quaddy Lighthouse and take the trail down to the water, Eastport for a Windjammer whale watching tour and lobster dinner at Quaddy Lobster Co. at the edge of the water. You may be lucky enough to have the mist roll it like a magical cloud. Also check out the Antique store in town. You may need to call Ray and make an appointment. We also drove down to Bar Harbour which is very busy, but its very pretty and took in a bit of Acadia and saw the Sandy Beach and the Thundering Hole. Most of all we enjoyed playing board games, puzzles, lazy days at the beach and just relaxing watching the sunsets. Thank you Cindy and Peter for sharing your lovely cottage with us!!

My husband and I had a glorious 2 weeks at the cottage. Having our own private beach on Holmes Bay for kayaking and swimming was a huge bonus. The coast between Machias and Lubec also has many wonderful coastal bluff hikes on conservation land. Peter and Cindy were incredibly helpful with all of our questions. We loved the house and the location.
