My partner and I stayed for 4 nights and it was absolutely lovely. The cabin was clean and cozy. We loved having breakfast on the screened in back porch surrounded by woods, and traveling to all the great places to eat and explore in the area. Everything was serene and very relaxing. Highly recommended.

I had stayed with my family at the house for a week, and it was absolutely lovely at the house! The outside areas were great, and the inside felt very cozy and quaint. The house isn’t large by any means, but it wasn’t any problem for me or the people I was staying with. Another thing I loved was the neighborhood, since it felt like the perfect place to take a nice walk. Overall, my stay here was great, and I would recommend it for any future guests.

Cozy, lovely getaway
This cottage is just the right place for someone wanting a quiet, local, lovely getaway. Suzy is an outstanding host, and I really enjoyed all the tiny details that made it more comfortable. It's warm, inviting, smells so good with all the wood and woods around. There is a lake right down the street with the most gorgeous sunsets. From the screened-in-porch to the cozy living room and bedrooms, it was an enchanting place to stay.

Charming cottage
This cottage was charming and welcoming. The front porch offered a warm spot in the sun, and the back porch was wooded and private. If rustic charm appeals to you, this spot is perfect. Tenants Harbor was a quiet village with just enough amenities to be convenient, but not attract the crowds of bigger destinations.

Sweet little cottage
Wish I had known how difficult the stairs were. Steep & narrow.
Doubt I would stay there again.

Fantastic mini-break!
Suzy’s place in Tenants Harbor was everything we were looking for during our Mid-Coast mini break! Easy to find, quick check-in and what a location! The house itself was perfect and well apportioned for all of your needs!
We will be back!

Comfy Harbor Cottage
Great stay- quiet area, very clean & comfortable cottage. Wonderful getaway! Drift Inn Beach is nearby & not crowded, mix of sandy beach & rocks to explore. Tenants Harbor General store was great to have nearby and had a great selection of staples. Thanks so much Suzy, we had a lovely time :)

Country meets ocean!!!
Unique sea shore cottage nestled in the trees. You feel as if you are camping with amenities in a quiet wonderful neighborhood! We rode bike daily to the Tenant Harbor and Port Cydle general stores and they had every need we had and had two great meals! Ventured north several days to Lincolnton Beach, shopping in Camden and Acadia National Park. Had a wonderful last day staying local and soaking in the sea at Drift Beach, quick visit to light house and caught the sunset in Port Clyde. Our first vacation to Maine and we enjoyed every moment, thank you to wonderful hosts Suzy and Joe! Can't wait to visit again!!!!

Wonderful cozy cottage in a gorgeous area of Maine
We stayed in July and had a wonderful two weeks at the cottage! Suzy was so helpful in conversation and email before we arrived and during our stay, even getting some basic groceries for us so we wouldn't have to shop on arrival. The cottage was cute, very clean, comfortable, and outfitted with all we needed in the kitchen and bedrooms (we brought our own sheets and towels). We loved sitting on the front porch and back screened-in porch for meals or quiet time reading. The half-mile walk down to Tenants' Harbor is filled with beautiful views of the water, islands and lobster boats - just walking my dog in the morning was a pleasure. My kids (8 & 12) loved their cozy attic bedroom, where I slept well too in the other room, and my mother (81) was comfortable downstairs on the fold-out couch. There is a retractable gate at the top of the stairs to ensure safety. TV and wifi worked perfectly so I was able to work, including Zoom calls. We went to the Drift Inn beach almost every day, and enjoyed meals at McLoon's lobster shack and dockside at the Dip Net in Port Clyde. We also drove up to Rockland, Rockport, and Camden a couple of times for a swim in Rockport harbor and dinner at Flatbread. We stored our bikes and beach chairs/boogie boards in the nearby boathouse/shed, and also used some of the beach chairs that came with the house. There is very little COVID-19 in this area of Maine, and it's clear residents are working to keep it that way, with universal mask-wearing in effect. We love this area and hope to rent this cottage again!

Gracious Hosts and Lovely Cabin
The title says it all. Suzy and Joe provided a wonderful escape for my wife, 1-year-old and I. The cabin was quaint and peaceful and had every amenity we needed. We even had a coffee grinder delivered to us within minutes of asking where I might find one in the cupboards. Suzy and Joe were also very gracious when I absent-mindedly forgot (more than once) a couple of different things. Thanks for everything!

Clean, quiet and thoroughly the coast of Maine. Stay here and you won’t want to leave!
Suzy and Joe are very easy to communicate with and the photos accurately show what you get. The screened porch is great.

Peaceful Stay
Hosts were very helpful with a quick response to our questions. The cottage had everything we needed. The screened in back porch was wonderful. The stairs and bedroom ceilings were a challenge. Great location between Port Clyde and Camden.

Lovely, super clean, No Frills but everything you could want.
We absolutely loved our stay in this Cottage. When we booked the reservation our hosts let us know that there was little insulation and not a lot of any kind of central heat. We decided to brave it and I'm so glad we did. The bed is super comfortable and there is plenty of warm bedding upstairs. I was not cold for a second once I got under the covers. Downstairs is a cheery, easy to operate gas stove that keeps them main floor cozy and we certainly saw the temperature drop to below 40.
The kitchen is nicely appointed. If you're a foodie bring a good knife, but otherwise every size of pot and pan that you need is there. And of course all you're going to do is steam lobsters and sear scallops, so have at it!
Joe and Suzy, thank you for sharing a part of your past with us. We very much enjoyed it and will recommend it to friends who might want to visit Midcoast Maine.

Adorable cottage
My husband, daughters and I loved this adorable little cottage, it had everything we needed. It was very clean and had nice comfortable beds. The gas stove kept it warm. It was in a great location, off the beaten track, but still near all the sights we wanted to see.
Would love to come back sometime!

Great place to stay
I’ve been staying at Suzy & Joe’s cottage every summer for the past six years. It’s a lovely “old timely” cottage right across the street from the water (Long Cove). A short walk up Barters Point Road will provide you with great coffee and pastries - and limited groceries - at the Tenants Harbor General Store. The cottage is well equipped with everything you’ll need for your stay. If you’re looking to escape the summer heat, come to Suzy and Joe’s cottage - you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely perfect!
The cottage was exactly as pictured. It was clean, well equipped and lovely. The screened in porch was my very favorite feature. The owners provided excellent customer service. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who loves the ocean, the woods and rustic beautiful cottages. We will absolutely be back!

A perfect Maine cottage!
The cottage was charming and comfortable, and the gas "woodstove" was perfect for taking the chill out on cool mornings. The screened porch in the back of the cabin was a delightfully peaceful place to sit and read. The cottage was very well appointed and had everything you might need, right down to beach toys for the kids. The location was great, and our kids had a terrific time riding their bikes to the harbor and the store.
Suzy and Joe stopped by to see how things were going, and were extremely helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. They truly went above and beyond in the hospitality department.... We thoroughly enjoyed staying in their cottage, and will likely be staying there again next summer!

The simple life
My family and I stayed in this adorable cottage for 3 weeks this summer. It was everything we'd hoped for. It's a classic Maine cottage on a nice piece of well tended land (great for building fairy houses). The cottage has a very sunny front porch (perfect for that morning cup of coffee) and a lovely screened porch for playing cards or reading in the afternoons. The location is excellent. Just a short drive to Drift Inn Beach or to Port Clyde, or a leisurely walk to the Tenants Harbor general store. There are windows on all sides, so there's always a breeze. It's also a cozy place to spend a rainy day. Rockport, Camden, Thomaston, Owl's Head, and Spruce Head are a short drive away. Overall a very special cottage.

This is what a Maine vacation should be.
As one who travels fairly often, I have found there a certain "magical" places that call me back, and Tenants Harbor is one of those places. The experience of being on the beautiful Maine coast is thoroughly enhanced by staying in this charming, comfortable cottage. It rewards you with its authentic back-in-time feel, yet with all the necessary conveniences of home. One huge benefit is the screen porch which has the feeling of positioning one in the majestic Maine woods surrounded with dabbled sun light through the branches. From the front deck one can view the water with its sparkling gems of light as you enjoy your morning coffee and contemplate activities for the day. Walk toward town and be mesmerized by the scenery...it's captivating! View the night sky with horizon to horizon stars. Make a wish.
I return here annually for my "Maine fix"...whether kayaking, sightseeing, indulging in a variety of fine restaurants or to surrender to the breath taking scenery.
This is a very special place where one can experience the Maine coast in a lovely, comfortable cottage. That's why I return year after year after year.

Wonderful Vacation Cottage
We almost hate to share our feelings about this nice, cozy summer cabin in Tenant’s Harbor. If more people find their way to this wonderful cottage, it may be difficult for us our to book our two weeks next summer. We wish the thank the Kane’s for the great job they did representing the cottage and all of it’s amenities on the website. It was everything they said it was and more. We were not disappointed in our vacation choice.
The screened-in porch was a definite advantage to us. We found it to be enjoyable during rainy days, and we had many meals there along with early morning coffee. It also was a nice quiet place to read a good book in an enclosed bug-proof setting.
The light and airy kitchen was well stocked with culinary equipment to make every meal easy to assemble.
The cottage also included a boathouse, which provided storage for fishing rods and bicycles.
There is easy access for kayaking and bike riding in the area. We took many nice walks during the early morning and evening hours.

A true Maine experience!
We absolutely loved our week in this cottage! We relish the past so we loved this quaint vintage cottage with all it's charm! Since it was chilly while we were there, we especially enjoyed the iron stove, it made the cottage so cozy. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was well equipped. We did bump our heads upstairs the first couple of days, and the stair/ladder was also a challenge, but we managed. Those challenges might need to be addressed a little more clearly in your overview of the cottage.
Overall, we loved our stay and the location surrounded by the beautiful woods, was probably one of our favorite features of the cottage. The little village is simply wonderful and we enjoyed some great meals at the local restaurants. The location made it so easy to run out for fresh lobster to cook for dinner, which we did several nights! Thanks for a great vacation week!

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time at this Tenant's Harbor cottage. It is quaint, clean and well appointed. Although the bedroom ceilings are quite slanted, you do have 2 separate sleeping areas and the use of fans in the windows keep you very cool at night.
We really enjoyed hanging out by the harbor near the cottage and ate our meals on the front porch for the smell of the salt air and the little ocean view. It is a pleasant walk to the little town and the children enjoyed playing at the playground at St George's elementary school. It is a short drive to Port Clyde where we took a puffin cruise and enjoyed amazing ice cream!
Local Drift Inn Beach is fun for beach combing and Doug's Seafood stand just past the beach is a delicious place for sea food.
The cottage is also very close to Thomaston, Rockland and Camden. We enjoyed visits to all of these places and the kids enjoyed Laite Beach in Camden. We even took a day trip to Freeport for some great shopping!
All in all we really enjoyed our stay here and found the owners very helpful and pleasant. We hope to return one day!

I was looking for a quiet, comfortable spot where I could do my own cooking, not spend a ton of money, feel safe as a woman traveling alone, and enjoy a peaceful, pretty setting. This cottage fit the bill perfectly. The description in the listing I found very accurate. The cottage was lovely, clean, with all kinds of dishes and kitchen utensils. You could have cooked just about anything! They have cable TV and wifi (which I did not use, so can't comment on its speed, etc.).
A couple of things to be aware of, which did not bother me at all but might some people. The stairway to the bedrooms upstairs is quite steep and narrow. It is a bit of a challenge to haul a suitcase up there. Young children or anyone with a mobility problem would not do well, and there is no other place to sleep. Also, the roofline slopes steeply, so the ceiling upstairs is low in a good portion of the bedrooms. Beware for your head if you are tall.
The owners were very helpful answering any questions I had and provided lots of information about things to do in the area. You definitely need your own transportation, but there is no lack of activities, sightseeing, etc. close by. You can walk to Tenants Harbor, and it is a short drive down to the tip of the peninsula to Port Clyde or back up to Route 1 at Thomaston. Rockland is also close, and it has lots of shops and restaurants if you want more variety.
All in all, I had a wonderful time and would go back any time I wanted to stay in the area.

Since The summer of 2008 we have been coming here every year for two weeks. We fell in love with it the first time.
It is small and cozy and tastefully decorated.
The kitchen is well equipped for a small cottage and it is a pleasure to cook the local fish and vegetables or the wild mushrooms that we pick.
My ten year old daughter loves spending days at the Blueberry Cove camp or the Herring Gut learning center where they have great activities for kids, marine activities, sailing programs and farm animals.
The region is impressively beautiful. We go swimming nearly everyday, take the boat to Monhegan Island, hike in the state park near Camden... Just the walk to the general store from the cottage is a pleasure.
We'll be back next year...

This vintage style cottage with its authentic and honest rustic charm enhances the experience of vacationing in Tenants Harbor. It has all the necessary comforts one needs for a laid-back, relaxed vacation and you're surrounded by sea and woodland. Enjoy breakfast on the front deck with views of pine studded islands, glimpses of the morning light shimmering on the water, the tinge of salt in the air and the distant drones of lobster boats.
Enjoy a pleasant stroll after dinner to the village center and to the town wharf to experience the dramatic light on the harbor, hosting a variety of sail craft along with native lobster boats.
The location is especially convenient. It's a delightful drive to Port Clyde and Marshall Point where it's a perfect destination for a stunning sunset. Take a day trip to Monhegan Island that will bring you to a place years gone by. Experience the renewed vigor of Rockland with it's many cafes and restaurants. Treat yourself to a visit to the Farnsworth museum with it's vast collection of paintings by famous artists, especially the outstanding works of the Wyeth family. Visit Owls Head lighthouse with its commanding and breath taking views of Penobscot Bay. Or bring your kayak, as I have, and paddle to the spectacular islands that surround Tenants Harbor.
This area is nearly magical and staying at this simple, yet most comfortable cottage only adds to the feeling.
I have chosen to stay at this charm of a cottage repeatedly over the course of several years and the joys of experiencing a vacation on the coast of Maine are multiplied by staying at this gem of a place.

We had a wonderful experience at this lovely little cottage. It was perfect for our family of four with two boys under five. It was small, clean, tidy, and yet had every amenity that we could need.
I would have loved a washer and/or dryer, although old school washing in the tub and drying on the line out back was great. The upstairs bedrooms were comfortable as it was a hot week in Maine! I did hit my head a few times as the roof slants, so if you are tall beware!! If you have small children you need to be careful with the stairs. We shut the door at night and it worked out fine. During the day we blocked it with a chair so they would not go up and down. The TV has Disney Channel if necessary - it was for us!
This Tenant's Harbor location was a wonderful location to take in not only all Tenant's Harbor offers (little bookstore, Cod End, Library, little beach/tidal basin) but also to take day trips to Camden, Rockport, Port Clyde (Puffin Cruise), Rockland, Wicassett and Bath (all less than an hour drive!)
My husband was able to also cycle everyday and could go for about 10-15 miles around the area. Good biking!
The owners are knowledgeable and responded very quickly to all of your requests and questions - this was very important to us. The local neighbors were great to talk to as well! We booked rather late in the season and were so excited that our week was still available!
I would recommend this property to anyone on a budget with a small family and for those that want to kick back, relax and take in the slow pace of life in beautiful coastal Maine.
We wished we could have stayed longer and we are thinking if coming back next year!

A friend from London and I spent a lovely week at the Kanes' cottage at the end of July. Our main goals were to visit antique shops, eat, visit the Farnsworth Museum and relax. We accomplished all of these. Highlights were the multi-dealer antique shops in Rockland, Warren and Camden. Cod's End and the Thomaston Diner for food. (There is also a great farm stand at the gas station on Route 131 on the way up to Route 1). The Farnsworth Museum and the Olson House for the Wyeth experience (the cottage is conveniently situated between the two). We took the ferry over to Monhegan Island and despite the fog had a wonderful time, seeing harbour porpoises and seals on the way out. The staff at the ferry are very friendly and helpful.
We found the cottage exactly as advertised. It was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was very well equipped - we especially appreciated the tea pot and the salad spinner! Suzy was very friendly and helpful, even calling us to check that all was going smoothly. She has thoughtfully put together a notebook with all the information guests need which we referenced quite often.
We can highly recommend this property.

You are close enough to a large town to have access to anything that you may need (Rockland). The cottage itself is very cute and charming. It is in a very quite area and you would have no problems resting, enjoying your stay, and just getting away from it all. The area and cottage is well kept and clean. Even with the fact that there are several working wharfs in the area, there is not a large amount of traffic and what little there is you would not know that they just drove by. The owners are very nice and very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Cods End that is located in the wharf is somewhere that you will need to visit while you are there. The lobster is out of this world. There is also a little place called Doug's on the way to Port Clyde. They have some of the best Haddock I have ever tasted. There is also Captain Jack's Lobster boat. It is located on the Mid wharf in Rockland. This is one of the things that we felt was well worth the money to do. Captain Jack is an awesome person and all ages will enjoy his tour. Of course, there are the lighthouses. There are several within less than an hour drive from you. We went to 7 that were within the area. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone staying in the area. However, there are a few exceptions. The stairs in the cottage to the second floor are somewhat steep. If you have bad legs or a disability, I could not recommend this cottage to you. In other words, my parents, I could not recommend this cottage to them. My sister and her husband, they would be crazy not to stay there! Families with young children, I would recommend this cottage with this warning. The bathroom is downstairs and again the stairs are steep. I would recommend a gate at the top of the stairs. There is also a door that would cover the opening at the top of the stairs that could be closed, but I would still put a gate in place with small children. Overall though for my stay on a scale of 0-10, 10 being the highest, it was definitely a 10.

Your cute cottage was the perfect retreat spot to enjoy St. George. The arts community is fabulous - perfect timing this week to take in the open studios of St. George! What a happy accident. I leave with fond memories and 4 new paintings.
Many blessings.

Location, Location, Location!
Starting in summer 1988, we have been staying at the Kane Cottage in Tenants harbor every few years. Why? The quiet and convenient location a scenic, short walk from the village center. The rustic appearance is deceiving since everything is there, including a well-stocked kitchen with pots, pans and utensils for Maine breakfasts and dinners on the front porch or back deck. Fresh fish steaks and filets from the town dock can be grilled on the Weber grill and enjoyed in a pleasant setting.
Easy access to nearby places such as Port Clyde, Sprucehead, Thomaston, Rockland and Camden provide pleasant daytime outings. The Maine state ferry provides a 2 hour bay crossing to Vinelhaven Island, in time for a blueberry muffin and a picnic lunch, with an afternoon return. Day sailing schooners sail from Camden for a unique experience to many. Shops in Rockland and Camden leave the mall chain store mentality for a unique personal shopping experience. Museum visits to the Farnsworth Art Museum (Rockland) or to Cushing to view Andrew and James Wyeth art and settings for some of the scenes.
For the more adventurous, a daytrip to Monhegan Island form Port Clyde offers some visually impressive scenery and a taste unique birding experiences in addition to the boat trip. Meanwhile, the few rainy days make a trip to Freeport's L.L. Bean main store and outlet shopping as well as Wiscasset or historic Bath offer another unique day trip.
For those who just want to hang out, take leisurely walks or read, Tenant's Harbor's town library provide recent books, classics AND Internet service for the occasional "lazy days of summer" we all treasure. A public beach near Port Clyde has large rocks, a sandy beach (at low tide) and beautiful views and free parking for an afternoon beach outing. Many weekends are opportunities to attend air shows featuring antique aircraft flying demonstrations along with antique auto meets and machinery demonstrations.
Evening dining out can be experienced at local inns such as the East Wind Inn in Tenants Harbor, the Craignair Inn at Clark Island or any number of Rockland or Camden locations. There are some other places in Port Clyde and Tenants Harbor that offer multi-course seafood, steak, chicken and pasta dinners. Try the town dock for fish and lobster and enjoy your meal while on the deck overlooking the harbor.
So why wait any longer? The only decision is whether one week is enough or two weeks is better. One can spend several summer vacations here, returning to old favorites as well as discover new things of interest.
Midcoast Maine and Tenants harbor are ideal destinations for couples and families who want a true Maine experience. The Kane Cottage is very user-friendly, inexpensive and a great place to return to as we have done over a 20 year period.
Try it and I think you will agree. You get what you see.
Best wishes,
A satisfied customer and return visitor looking forward to our next visit!
