No breakfast but a very considerate basket of pastries and fruit was available, much appreciated. As was the fresh milk in the room fridge.

Shame not to meet staff at check-out, but it was a public holiday.

Everything at this popular and busy pub. Very well looked by all the staff.

Great location, friendly staff, clean and pretty room, good snacks! Only ate there once but it was very good, a lovely garden in the back. very close to the castle and a great 3 mile walk through the woods and fields.

This was our second stay at the Inn, having stayed before we were very happy to return. The Inn is actually quite a lovely place , the staff are nice , food is decent/ the location for walks in the Brecon’s is ideal. The bedrooms are lovely , very clean .

We had booked two rooms for ourselves, and our friends. We both had dogs , so my understanding is we had to have the rooms at the top ( dog friendly rooms 7&8 ). Our first ever stay (October 2022), we didn’t have the dog, but on this return visit we had our dog. We discovered on our first day after a number of hours walking in the cold/ rain on Pen ye Fan, having returned and expecting a warm shower that the showers in both rooms were not working. The water was either freezing or scalding. I spoke with the manager who kindly said we could use the shower in a room on the floor below ours. She advised it may have been the pressure, and that in the morning all would be well. Morning came and the water was freezing. So it was a case of my partner and I/ friends having to leave our floor to head downstairs to shower. Not really ideal , personally having to walk a public corridor in my night gown is not something I like doing. We then spent the day walking again , and returned hoping the water situation had improved, and sadly it hadn’t . So after 5 hours of very tough walking, we had to leave our room again to head downstairs for a warm shower. Sadly the water remained cold for two night stay . I did try and explain the situation to another lady the next night , and not much could be offered apart from we couldn’t swap rooms as we had our dogs with us. It’s a shame as the room itself was really lovely .

Room was comfy and clean. Staff were friendly and location was ideal.

Unfortunately there was a limited breakfast option despite breakfast being advertised. The in room cereal/fruit combo was adequate but fell short of our expectations.

Fantastic location, great for sight seeing , loads of local pubs , shops and cafes and a museum too. The river Usk is a 5 minute walk away from the Castle Inn

Nothing really , the only slight issue we had was the shower. On a couple of occasions when you were having a shower , the water stopped completely and then came out cold
