The home is an architectural treat, with floor to ceiling windows in the living room that make you feel immersed in the backyard forest.
The owners have superb taste in art and design, with something unique, interesting and beautiful to look at on all the walls and shelves. It's like staying in an art gallery - you could spend a rainy afternoon with a tilted head, chin in hand, examining the intriguing works of art and craft.
The owners could not be more helpful and friendly. A special shout out to Plunkett, who called us the day before our check-in to review details with us, and then showed up herself on the last day to supervise and help with the cleaning. She was a delight to chat with.
We've been to BHI a dozen times in the past 24 years, and this was our best experience ever!

What a treat to stay in this uniquely beautiful home! Every expansive window draws in the light and shadow and stories of the island forest that surrounds it. Thank you for sharing the warmth and artistry of your home with our family. Thank you for the gracious extras you provide and for the wonderful kitchen and dining table that became the centerpiece for our meals and game nights. Thank you for so graciously providing items for our grandbaby to use. Thank you for providing a bocce set (we had a family tournament at the Point — so memorable). It was a gift to our family to create new memories, on this island we have loved for many years. We would come back to Morning Light in a heartbeat!!

We stayed at Morning Light with my adult sons and their girlfriends. The house is made to have family. The common areas are inviting and make for great dinners and game nights. The rooms provide space and privacy. Location is close to beach and the Mercantile. Highly recommend.

When you walk up to this house you will be amazed by the decor and every detail of your stay. The house is huge and surrounded by the maritime forest. We enjoyed the house and the island and we await the opportunity to be able to come again.

We loved staying at Morning Light even though the weather didn’t cooperate during our weekend trip. The house is gorgeous, with everything we needed and more. Comfortable beds. Peaceful wooded setting. Incredible architecture, decor, and furnishings. The host was friendly, attentive and helpful throughout! Would highly recommend!!

From the moment we entered this beautiful home we felt so comfortable and relaxed. The home is so welcoming and has all the amenities you could need. Our family had a terrific visit . This house is like no other … it’s like sleeping in a tree house! My friends and I stay at this house every year for a girls trip. So serene and relaxing - great location - large and roomy - tranquil atmosphere!

This home is perfection! The calmness of being surrounded by the forest paired with all the comfy linens and well stocked kitchen made this our favorite home to date on BHI. The owners are wonderful and very responsive. 10/10 would recommend and have already rebooked for next year!

My favorite sanctuary

Beautiful Morning Light
This property is so clean and spacious! Very convenient location. Lots of room to spread out in home with comfortable floor plan. The kitchen and whole home are equipped with all you might need. Would definitely stay here again. Very good communication with host!

Perfect!
Morning Light is a unique home that was perfect for our family vacation. Our hosts were more than kind and thoughtful ( bringing forgotten car keys to us before we took the ferry home!).
The house itself is a architectural gem nestled in the woods of Bald Head Island. We loved it!

One-of-a-kind retreat
Stunning custom-built home in the maritime forest--just minutes from the beach and nearby market but tucked away for total privacy and amazing views. We have rented this home multiple times. Beautifully maintained and very tastefully furnished and decorated. Lots of space for your group to enjoy.

House in the Woods on Bald Head Island
The pictures do not do this house justice. It has many architectural features and decorative elements that make it a unique and interesting home. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the large windows provide beautiful views of the surrounding woods. We were three couples and the rooms were separated to give each of us privacy. The kitchen was very well stocked. There were large dining areas by the kitchen and on the porch. We enjoyed our stay and hope we can return some day.

Serenity
This house is just poor serenity! A great retreat for an adult getaway. The bedrooms each have a spa-like bathroom and are in separate areas within the house which is perfect for couples or girls trips. Unique relaxation and dining areas throughout the property inside the house and outside on the decks. Feels like living in a treehouse.

Our best Bald Head experience yet!
From the time we booked to when we left the owners (Plunkett) we’re absolutely amazing. Very attentive to details. Went out of their way to make sure our experience was the best. This home is gorgeous and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for your stay. All the bedrooms were beautiful, large windows with so much natural light. The house was broken up in a way that allows you to have different experiences and space for different group activities. The golf carts worked great and 4 bikes were provided. We will definitely rent this property again!!

Beautifully sited property with marvelous nature views from large windows. Conveniently located and well apportioned. Wonderful accommodations for the larger family. Detail of solid wood beam construction is outstanding! Screened in patio with ping pong table kept everyone busy in the evening. Hosts Plunket & Harper were very gracious and helpful

Perfect island retreat
As everyone has already mentioned, Morning Light is a very special place. Beyond the beauty and layout of the home, morning light has everything you need for a great beach stay—and then some. We’d also be remiss without saying that Harper and Plunkett are the best hosts you can find. They are very personable, responsive and understanding. We will be back.

Fantastic!
We loved this house--and it is even more beautiful than it is in the photos. It is so peaceful and nestled in the woods--feels like a real get away. It was very spacious for our group of 7. Clean. The kids loved the ping pong table. We hope we can book again next year!

Fabulous Stay
Very unique and beautiful property that had everything we needed! Fast golf carts. Great hosts. I would definitely stay here again. Centrally located on the island near the market. My only caution would be to families who have children who need a dark room to sleep in - this is not available at this property (after all it is called Morning Light).

Wonderful getaway
We loved everything about this house! The massive windows exploit the beautiful landscape outdoors. The moment you open up the oversized, heavy front door and feel the cool air hit your face you feel as if you've been transported into an oasis that you are in no hurry to ever leave.

Absolutely Amazing
We cannot recommend Morning Light enough! A top notch rental with absolutely breathtaking scenery. Everything was so well thought through in this rental and the owners were incredibly response and welcoming. Very easy drive to beach access and the golf carts were in perfect condition for fun outings around the island. The house was incredibly well stocked with anything we could have needed and more. Thanks for a great stay!

Thoughtful place to escape
We enjoyed a week of repose at Morning Light. The architecture, layout, decor, and amenities create a thoughtful and peaceful atmosphere that makes the escape to Bald Head feel even more complete. The owners are gracious and incredibly responsive and the care they put into the property makes you feel cared for as a guest. We cannot wait to return.

Great New Years Weekend
This truly unique property was a great setting for a great New Years weekend with close friends who don't get to Bald Head Island often enough. Our hosts went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we need.

Wonderful house
What a beautiful house to spend Christmas in. The owners were so sweet and helpful. The setting was gorgeous, and the house was so comfortable and perfect for a winter-time stay. Two of us in our little group are architects, so we could definitely appreciate the house's thoughtful design - really we all did. SUCH a good vibe in this place. We would definitely like to return to this house in the warmer months so we could take advantage of the wonderful screened porch and decks more! To the owners...thank you so much for your hospitality.

One-of-a-kind!
This property is amazing! Between the amazing trees, to the incredible architecture, to the many spaces indoor and out, it feels a bit like a slice of paradise. The hosts couldn’t be more accommodating. Wonderful stay!

Treehouse Treat
This house is so unique. Asian inspired, zen feeling throughout. A house best for adults - 3 bedroom suites spread out so each person or couple has their own space! Several comfortable sitting/reading/relaxing areas within the house - and excellent outdoor entertainment spaces.

Fantastic! Amazing home with everything you'll ever need for a perfect BHI vacation!
My family and friends had a wonderful experience. The home was beautiful, clean and well stocked. The owners made the experience so much better than any other we've ever experienced on the island. We've been visiting every summer for over 15 years and this was the best ever. Morning Light is an absolute must and we will return every year! Plunkett and Harper and wonderful.

Best 2 weeks of summer 2020!
The house was wonderful, very well done and the nicest and most unique place we have stayed on BHI. We have been coming to the island for the past 5 years and this year we decided to stay on the island for 2 weeks. We could not have picked a better house, the light, the trees, very zen and made our time here wonderful.
Harper and Plunkett were great, showed us around when we arrived and made themselves readily available whenever we needed anything. We especially enjoyed the fully equipped kitchen and ping pong table. We will be back!

Awesome Bald Head house
We really enjoyed our stay at Morning Light. The home is well appointed and very beautiful. Nice tranquil forest views. Convenient to market and beach. Nice linens. Highly recommend.

Beautiful, unique property
We had a great time in BHI. The weather was not great when we were there so we were stuck in the house for most of our trip. However, the house was spacious, giving everyone enough room to hang out without being on top of each other. There were lots of board games provided, ping pong table, the kids loved the screened in/covered treehouse. Kitchen is fully stocked for cooking! Plenty of beach toys/chairs. Golf carts were in great condition. Hopefully we can come back and stay again when the weather is sunnier!
