Car park on site. Helpful staff. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the traditional pub downstairs. It had a fire and bar food including fresh baked pizzas. Delicious!

Lovely hotel with genuinely lovely hosts

characterful property! lots of historic architectural features. Food in the pub was exceptional, the pizza was exquisite! Staff extremely helpful, and friendly, what ever you are paying them, they deserve more! A ten minute walk to the heart of Derby so a really good location. Amazing value for money. We had the privilege to stumble in on their famous quiz nights and had a right laugh in the process.

Due to the period sash windows the road noise was quite loud, and people leaving the pub were even louder. We had people drinking and chatting outside our window till around 1.am. There was no soap in the bathroom but I’m sure if we’d asked the staff they would have bent over backwards to help us, but we had our own! And if we were being picky, and I mean really picky, some plumper pillows would be good!

3 rooms were booked, the one in the ‘cottage’ was super lovely and modern, the shower water pressure was amazing. My friends stayed in the other 2 rooms in the main hotel which were more outdated we match the photos in the advert so we were happy. rooms had fans too which was perfect because it was extremely warm. The location was perfect as me and my friends were doing a derby pub crawl and it was great starting point. Even though it’s connected to a pub it was really quiet. Staff were friendly when we checked in. Food and drinks were available to buy in the pub downstairs and cheap prices too, garden area was lovely.

The room in the cottage was not ready when we arrived, had to wait over an hour. Luckily we had 2 rooms booked in the main hotel area so we could store bags there. When we arrived we were unsure how to check in, as you have to walk through the pub, staff were not clear with where to go. We were given a key to the big front door to let ourselves in when we got in at early hours which was fine, the only bit that was a bit weird was me and my friend having to walk through the museum bit in the dark to get through to the cottage room but it wasn’t too bad as we had each other ahah

Breakfast and wifi would have made things a lot easier.

The whole hotel style was amazing. Bar area had a great atmosphere. Large indoor and outdoor seating areas. Food was gorgeous especially the pizza oven. The staff were amazing from start to finish so polite and helpful.The hotel is a 10 minute walk into the centre with loads of bars to drink in. Had a fantastic few days.

Bed wasn’t very comfy and tv was small but we didn’t go away to sit in the room

Friendly atmosphere in an interesting character property with good outdoor seating as well and on-site parking.

Its a very friendly place with its own pub attached, Mr Grundy's. The staff are very welcoming and down to earth, its a very nice atmosphere. Rooms are old obviously and the four-poster bed luxurious. This is an old building and everything suits its character.

Found that the wi-fi connection wasn't really up to it. Other than that we couldn't really complain.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Interesting and quirky building. Excellent breakfast.
