Great location away from the main road, fantastic cooked breakfast but no fruit at the buffet / cereal area, which is unusual for a hotel of this calibre.
The beers were awesome, as was the food, and the staff were the best!
Our room was stiflingly hot at times due to it being above the kitchen, we were warned of this at check in and given an electric fan, which wasn't really adequate, and the window only opens slightly. Air conditioning would be a major improvement, but that's the only negative thing about the whole stay, everything else was great.

Very central position within the village.
They could have given us a heads up that they were busy for Sunday lunch, we arrived Friday afternoon so there were a couple of days, when we asked on the Saturday we were met with fully booked.
Also when you arrive by car, because it is also a pub you may struggle to park your car in the car park.

Friendly staff and perfect location for a quick walk up to Coniston copper mines. The hotel decor was well chosen and the whole place felt very homely.

Food was to a good standard. Parking on site but not a huge amount of spaces.
Many items in the room were broken. Staff didn't know what they were doing. Milk only provided on the first day, and after that had to chase it down as according to housekeeping the fridge should be stocked but never was.
