excellent it’s hotel stand on the property of Carlstens Fästning./former prison. you sleep in renovated room that may been the officers room. privat bathroom. A very proffesional guided tour of the castle was included. we got picked up by the staff at the ferry

no nothing… but it’s a hill to climb. we got however picked up, so nothing to complain about

Breakfast was good, should have had better selection of eggs. Only hard boiled

Proximity to people touring the castle outside our room. Couldn’t be helped though. It’s what it is - a castle

The place itself is outstanding! It is memorable to spend a night and a day in a fortress. Surrounding landscape is really worth to see and Marstrand is a lovely small town. Personel of Soldatens B&B is toppen! Ps. Private bathroom on the corridor works surprisingly well.

You need to understand that rooms are quite plain, and you need to make the beds yourself.

This is an amazing place to stay. You are literally inside the fortress and can walk around in the evening. There is a kitchen and a game room and a living room (all shared but we had it to ourselves much of the time). Our teens, that can be hard to impress lived it. Matilda was so welcoming and accommodating.

I booked sea side room but I slept in the other side of what I booked the room

The fort is a memorable place to stay, with spectacular views. And getting to explore the fort without other tourists there in the morning was a big plus. Fun!

The hotel description should absolutely make clear that: a) you must pay for both parking across the water and for the ferry to the island, and b) the walk up the steep hill to the fort/hotel is formidable if you plan on bringing luggage of any kind. We ended up making smaller overnight bags/backpacks.
