This is our third year of renting this property. Our first year was adults with one child. Now there are three children under the age of 5. The porch is a perfect room for bringing the family together. Ample space for toys and mayhem. but the real magic of this place is that there are any number of places to which one can escape when the mayhem gets to much. The kitchen was very well stocked and the views are breathtaking, furniture comfortable and the survivor’s guide had every conceivable bit of information anyone renting the house could need. I don’t want it to get any more popular than it already is but this is an a plus experience.

Such an amazing property with lots of wonderful touches included to make this an ideal space for a family vacation. We particularly liked the sunporch and the deer family that visited us a few times during our stay. The path to walk around the property was a nice bonus. Pro

Good as listed and in a lot better area than anticipated - very quiet, much to do and very beautiful area with trails, ocean nearby, saw many deer right on property.

We loved our time at Blue Heaven! Even better than the pictures. Plenty of space for 7 adults, a toddler and a dog. House stays cool with the fans even during a heat wave. And Mary was a generous and responsive host. Don’t miss this house!

It's been several years since we've been to visit Maine and we were celebrating a milestone anniversary, so we wanted to stay somewhere comfortable and where we could get away from the rat race, and Blue Heaven fit the bill. What a wonderful, magical place! Everything you could want or need was there and the house was so clean, and it felt like home away from home. Would absolutely recommend to others and will be back the next time in Maine. Mary, the host, was wonderful and easy to communicate with. Love it!

I tried to book this property for next year before a wrote this review because I wanted to make sure we secured it since it is simply the most wonderful place in this part of Maine. But alas, apparently there are others who feel the same way. It breaks my heart that we will have to find another property but the early bird gets the worm. I cannot write anything negative about this wonderful place. Think of it. You have two septuagenarians, one sixty five year old mother of twin boys who are now married with children of their own and it was a perfect gathering of generations and cultures. This is our second year in this property our 35th year in this part of Maine and my husband said upon leaving:
This was the best time EVER. I agree

We used Mary's property as a home base while exploring Maine's coast, especially Acadia. We had a wonderful time and Mary was quick to answer our questions, when we had them.

This house is wonderful! It has everything you need and more. The property is quiet and peaceful and private. Mary is a great host - she checked in with us a couple of times and left us lots of information for our trip. Dolly is very sweet as well - we did meet her one time during our stay.

We had the privilege of staying at this property for 9 nights. It is a remote location with plenty of space for a family to have alone time or together time. The property sits back off the road and is backed up to woods where there’s a wonderful fire pit. There were some other homes barely visible through the trees, but we only saw someone else one time. The house was well maintained, homey and well stocked - they really do think of everything! Each bedroom had a box fan and most bedrooms had a ceiling fan as well - the weather was very humid in July, but the evenings cooled down enough that fans were definitely sufficient even though they do not have air conditioning. There’s a local Hannaford and Blue Hill Co-op 10 minutes away, both of which sell a good selection of organic and allergen-friendly foods. It is about an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Go to ship harbor trail for the best tide pooling! Be prepared to drive places if you want to your. No AC but not really needed. Great fire pit and wonderful atmosphere overall

We had 8 adults staying at this lovely 4 bedroom house. It was spacious, clean and well maintained. The property was beautiful and had exactly what we needed. That included a nice patio, huge front porch and back deck area. Oh.... did i mention the perfect fire pit for night time hanging out. I highly recommend this house.

Blue Heaven, set back from the road a few hundred feet and surrounded on three sides by wooded property, is private and quiet, yet is a short drive to the town of Blue Hill, a good supermarket, fantastic food coop and a Walgreens drugstore. The house has well furnished comfortable seating areas, and for our group of 6 older people, the bedrooms have very comfortable beds, and nice quality bed linens. Each bedroom had a closet with more than enough room to put way our things. Aside from the living/den area, there is a large screened porch with more comfortable seating, so for six people who love to be with each other, there is still plenty of room to spread out and not be on top of one another for the week. The front porch and back patio are additional spaces to hang out. The ping pong table in the basement was great for a rainy day, as well as an assortment of games and books in the living room. The property also has shaded gravel paths looping around it for a mile plus walk, and Blue Hill Falls is another walk just up the road. The owner replied immediately to a minor problem, and there is a caretaker a phone call away. A couple of months before our stay the owner emailed the most extensive detailed guide to the house and the Blue Hill area that I've ever received on a rental. All in all, it was great house in a lovely area with an owner committed to the comfort of guests.

Mary's home is clean, spacious, comfortable, welcoming and beautifully decorated. We were eight senior adults and spent most of our time on the great front porch or huge screened in room, both of which easily allow more than eight people to sit and have a conversation in comfort. About 45 minutes from Acadia and Bar Harbor, the home is close enough for easy visits and far enough to be completely quiet and secluded. The four "senior" men went tubing on the Kennebec River, about two hours away, and had a blast. We all went whale watching out of Bar Harbor and had a very successful trip with lots of full breaching.
If we ever return, we will unquestionably rent Mary's home again. You will not be disappointed if you stay in this home, because that is what it is, a home!

Everything was perfect. Lots of space for all of us to spread out and yet there was a wonderful porch on which all of us could sit together. The kitchen was well. Equipped, the location ideal and the host could not have been more helpful. The caretakers came immediately when we thought we had a water problem. (We did not). We certainly hope to return next year.

My wife and I spent a family vacation with our grown children and their partners at Blue Hill. We had a fabulous time. The house and surroundings were impeccable, so large that all of us [incl. our dogs] could find privacy inside or outside whenever we needed it. A must and not an easy feat for a large family vacation. We stayed a week during which we ate a lot of soft serve ice cream, cooked and ate, danced at a Flash mob steel drum concert in Blue Hill, did the NYT crosswords, formally accepted a job and gave notice at the present job, hiked [in Acadia and closer by], hung out at the beach, kayaked, listened to podcasts, napped, played board games, golf, and ping pong, pondered a job offer [a different family member], ran, read many novels, rode on mopeds around Acadia, sat by the fire, sailed, shopped [very little], skipped rocks, slept [a lot], swam [both people and dogs], threw the ball for the dogs, visited nearby family, watched a regatta at Brooklin Navy Yard [from our kayaks, it was glorious]. We will be back!

We were a family of eight: parents with their grown children and their spouses/significant others. We came to Maine to celebrate my 80th birthday. Blue Heaven accommodated all our needs. The kitchen was well equipped for some amazing meal preparations that we each took turns preparing most evenings. It almost became a competition to see who could make the most delicious and eye appealing dinner. We enjoyed a hike around Jordan Pond, visiting the Nearing home and gardens, dining out at Union River Lobster Pot and also a last night special dinner at Arborvine. Four members of our group rented e-bikes in Bar Harbor and rode a half day on the beautiful Carriage Trails in Acadia. Several members also hiked to Mount Cadillac and hiked Bubbles and a few other major hiking trails. We visited Thunder Hole one morning and also walked along the Sea Path in Bar Harbor ending at some of the shops and restaurants there. Note that due to heavy traffic in the summer months, a trip to Acadia can take 1 and 1/2 hours each way. So plan your activities accordingly. Our morning whale watch trip out of BarHarbor was cancelled as we were approaching Bar Harbor due to fog. We were disappointed, but spent the time on the sea path and shopping. We recommend Blue Heaven as a wonderful place to relax and feel at home. The grounds are lovely. Mary is a perfect host. We made so many memories there.

Gorgeous House
We had a fantastic time here. Lovely space with extra amenities. Only downside was the heat and no air conditioning. Lots of fans were available though.

Peaceful vacation
This house was the perfect location for us to spend some quiet time together between hiking at Acadia.
We practically lived on the screened porch which was plenty big and comfortable.

A beautiful property
We shared the house with 2 other couples and this house was absolutely perfect. A nice, quiet location with lots of room in the house to gather or spend some quiet time alone. I would absolutely recommend this house to anyone who is able to do lots of steps.

Enjoyable experience
We enjoyed our stay at this property in Blue Hill. The location is in a pretty village by the water. The drive to this house was a pleasant experience. The house was everything as described in the posting, well stocked and clean. We especially appreciated the hand sanitizer, Lysol spray, and Lysol wipes provided in the house. Very thoughtful of the owner to provide those supplies. We had a quiet and enjoyable stay. We did not stay in the Acadia National Park this time. But the experience was well worth driving the extra miles.

Blue Heaven, indeed!
I'm not going to be able to summon up enough superlatives for this beautiful property! The house is gorgeous - and HUGE! We were only 2 on this visit, but we could easily imagine a large family reunion, or the perfect place to have family holiday celebrations. The most beautiful landscaping surrounds the property, pulling the visitor outside to enjoy. If you can pull yourselves away from the house, the area is ripe with amazing things to do. The homeowners are incredibly kind, thoughtful, generous (as evidenced by the little surprises left through the house for the visitor to discover!), responsive and understanding! Our stay here was truly wonderful!

Great house for chilling out and exploring the greater Acadia area!
I am so glad we planned 4 nights here on our 2 week tour of Maine. Morning coffee on the front porch while watching the deer, cooking dinners and chilling on the screened in patio after days of exploring Blue Hill/Acadia/BarHarbor and super comfortable beds to crash into after long hikes made for a great stay. There was every amenity you could think of plus more. We felt right at home. I miss having my coffee in the rocking chair on the front porch. Highly recommend this house!

All Around Terrific Experience
Thank you Team Blue Hill, we couldn't have had a better stay or experience. Everything was truly great, from the moment we stepped in to the house to the end of our trip. We recommend BH to anyone/everyone without exception. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We'll be back.

Perfect family gathering spot
This was one of the best stocked and organized properties we've ever stayed at. Everything was easy to find, the kitchen had everything from colanders to muffin tins. Mary had thought of everything. Fans in every room, a detailed guide to operating the house, everything from a gas fireplace to an outdoor, mechanical awning. And we made use of everything. It could not have been more perfect. The screened-in porch was huge and allowed us to eat outside, free from Maine's infamous mosquitos. The fire pit was fully stocked. All we had to do was build a fire and enjoy ourselves. The woods were wonderful, and it's so close to town and hiking and the waterfront. We will definitely be coming back again. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Blue Heaven is a special place
After glancing at the guest book upon our arrival we could immediately tell how warm and welcoming it is at Blue Heaven. We spent a long weekend celebrating a special birthday with family and what a delight it has been. Out of all of the vacations that we have taken over the years this one was truly special. From the basket of s’mores to the Adirondack chairs out back everything was absolutely perfect we couldn’t have asked for a better place - Thank you for sharing Blue Heaven with us. We hope to return again someday

Warm, inviting, comfortable and peaceful. What more could we ask for?
We spent the week of 9/20/11-9/27/11 at Blue Heaven and we found the home to be appropriately named. The five of us had incredibly good nights of rest on wonderful mattresses. The home is very well-appointed on a beautiful, private site. The owners have anticipated guests' every need right down to lobster pots. Or cooked lobsters can be picked up a stone's throw away. All four bedrooms are attractive and good-sized. Dining can take place in the dining room, in the roomy kitchen, on the back patio, or in the wonderful screened-in sun room. The front porch is a delightful spot for reading. We often passed up opportunities to tour the area because Blue Heaven is such a treat. It's so relaxing. But the town of Blue Hill had everything we needed when we ventured out. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are nearby attractions. When we saw the masses of tourists in Bar Harbor, we were glad we opted to stay in Blue Hill instead. Overall it was a wonderful vacation that was enjoyed by all.

Romantic Getaway Week on the Blue Hill Peninsula
Having summered in the area as a youth, the occasion happened for my wife and me to visit Blue Hill along with her sister and brother-in-law. The town of Blue Hill is nothing sort of charming between the galleries, shops, markets, restaurants, and co-op. The house suited our needs wonderfully, offering more than enough room, a fabulous and spacious outdoor porch (with screens which were appreciated at night), and privacy (no immediate neighbors, unwanted noises, etc). I recall the house having several acres to itself. What's more, from the elevation you're offered a sense of serenity so be sure to enjoy a magnificent stary night's sky!!! One further note, the home is very well appointed and has current mattresses which I appreciated as a finicky sleeper. Enjoy!
