The house is a great little 2 bedroom, perfectly located to step off of the porch and into the sand. A beach lovers dream. Mark was quick to respond with any questions or concerns. Definitely recommend for that old outer banks feel. Close to good restaurants

For clarity and transparency, my wife, my dog, and I were the only occupants. This house was PERFECT. I know on occasion people are fooled are by photos or vague descriptions, but this was the opposite of that. The home was exactly as described and even better upon arrival. Right on the beach with a gorgeous deck to see the sunrise and sunset, perfectly furnished with a plenty of room for a family of 4 to 5. Professional and clean I hope to stay here again.

We had a great stay. Loved the house, very comfortable. Had everything we needed. Thanks for allowing pets. Mark was very responsive on the single question we had. We will return.

This is an amazing place, steps from the water. With a covered and completely enclosed deck it's a fantastic place for our pup and to watch the spectacular sunrise each morning. Comfy beds, great shower, and plenty of room. The owner is great. Highly recommend!

Beach Retreat is a great cottage, very convenient to everything we wanted: nice restaurants, antique stores, Duck, etc. We loved being able to just walk out the back porch and onto the beach! The property was well stocked with everything needed for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

We could not have loved our stay more! The cottage was perfect for our family, kids, dogs. The recent updates were a great bonus. We felt at home and also perfectly relaxed on the back deck watching the sunrise and enjoying the best view! The deck was dog friendly and enclosed so we could all sit out there together. The location is perfect!

The location is superb-right on the ocean and close to restaurants. The check in was frustrating as we expected a lock box on the door and it was elsewhere and we could not locate. No instructions to show how to operate the lock box. There was a major water leak under the kitchen sink that flooded the floor. There were two buckets under the sink for the water leak. The shower rod is rusty and towel rack missing. The vents for the ceiling duct work look as though they could fall. The heating/air was inconsistent for each room. The recliner was not stable and does not stayed reclined all the way. We expected an older property but not the condition it was in.

I headed to the beach in search of solitude, and this cozy home delivered. The sunrise and sunset views were killer, and proximity to the beach doesn't get any better. The kitchen was well-appointed for home cooking, and bed was comfy. The home could use a little TLC but has all the basics covered. Mark was responsive when a small maintenance issue popped up, and I appreciated his quick communication.

Mark is an excellent and very responsive host. Property is an older cottage but has a prime location.

We enjoyed our 3 nights stay in this cozy comfy house right on the beach during Christmas break. Weather was warm and beautiful. We walked a lot with our dog. Everything in the house was just for us, basic needs are met! Beds are so comfy… thank you Mark! We will be back soon:)

The house is a prefect small cottage. Loved everything about the location and the house. Very much enjoyed a relaxing day on the beach with my puppy dog and boyfriend. Thank you for sharing your vacation home.

Nothing beats being right on the ocean!! November visit didn't guarantee great weather, but being oceanfront is worth the money! Mark was a great host. Left my key fob behind and he made sure it was mailed back to me. Very grateful!

The house was definitely rustic but the location is the absolute best! Perfect for our week with our dog - with the porches secured with gates so that he could enjoy the views without escaping! Steps to the beach, beautiful views from the covered porch.

I had a lovely week here. The place is not posh or glamorous, but it's clean and cute and in a breathtaking spot. The owner is friendly and responsive to messages. In an area of huge and exorbitant rentals, it's perfect for travelers who want a smaller and more affordable space. The front porch 100 yards from the surf is magical.

I want a full refund of our first five days of the trip! When we arrived at the property, the back porch and outdoor shower were completely infested with thousands of swarming mayflies. I immediately called the owner to let him know, sent photos and video of the scene, and asked him to send out an exterminator and to come down to the property to witness what was happening. The owner assured us the flies would be gone within 48 hours and told us to hose down the outside of the house to get rid of them. He also told us to keep the lights off on the porch and in the house at night. So we sat in the dark, but that didn't work. Day 3 or 4 (?), I told the owner it was worse than ever. He said to keep doing what we were doing, and to hose them down more and to use insect repellent and that he had talked to the pest guy who told him "nothing he could do as they will just come back the next day." We asked others for advice. They told us to burn citronella candles. It didn't work. We, and our dogs, couldn't use the outdoor porch or outdoor shower at all. We couldn't go in or out of the house without covering our faces with towels. Day 5 (I think). I sent more photos and videos of the DISGUSTING infestation to the owner, who told us the pest guy told him that hosing them down might've made them worse. I asked him why he told us to hose them down!! Day 5 the owner said "I"ll call the pest guy again and get him out there." Day 6 he sent the pest guy and the property manager (who knew??? Apparently, the owner doesn't live down there!!). The property manager said it was the worst infestation she had ever seen in her 17 years in the business!! We asked for a refund of our first 5 days, which were an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. The owner and manager refused to do anything. The property manager gave us a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant for our troubles. Honestly, what a slap in the face!!! The LEAST the property owner could do was give us a REFUND of our first five days, as we BEGGED him for help and he did NOTHING and even told us to do things that might've made it worse. Had he called the property manager on the first day, when I called him within 5 minutes of arriving at the property, we could've enjoyed our vacation, which cost an arm and a leg, for us!!! BTW: There are ants all over the kitchen and in the bathroom, too. Disgusting.

As others have mentioned, you really can't beat the location of this place. Being right on the beach allowed my family and I to spend 8+ hours a day on the beach and in the water. Covered deck allows a shaded break from the sun, while still enjoying the beach. It's also just a short walk to several restaurants, coffee place, etc. Enjoyed a great stay here! Looking forward to next year.

Location is everything!! Not fancy but has a comfortable bed, plenty of room, big porch and amazing beachfront location!

Sweet little spot right on the beach. My husband and I took our dog and it was perfect for the three of us. Saw amazing sunrises and sunsets, dolphins playing and pelicans soaring. Highly recommend. Mark is very accommodating and easy to deal with. My only downside is the tv was smarter than me! But we listened to the boom box instead and it was great 👍👍👍

This little cottage was just a step away from the beach. Walk out the door and there it it is. Relaxing on the porch, we watched dolphins and a variety of sea birds. Wonderful retreat.

The location is absolutely perfect. We spent most of the days sitting on the beach or on the covered porch outside, enjoying the view, watching dolphins and reading. The bedroom was comfortable, the kitchen well stocked with ustensils and there are plenty of seafood restaurants in the area, which we enjoyed. Will definitely stay there again, such a relaxing stay, can't beat the view!

This small but comfortable beach house is right on the beach. Literally steps from the ocean. It is not opulent or fancy but is comfortable and functional and fully equipped. We had an issue signing on to the WIFI but Marc, the owner, stopped by and solved our problem; nice guy. Places to eat, shops, everything you need is very close by. I took my wife here for her birthday and she could not have been happier. We would definitely go back.

To get away from the online world we are all living in right now, there was no place better on the shore during the off seaaon in the outer banks. Been going to OBX for 40 years and stayed beach front every summer. This house gave us the old nags head feels with the most absolute best back porch you can ask for! Love Love Love the Beach Retreat!

Wonderful to find a small house right on the beach! The location could not have been better and the kitchen was very well stocked with equipment. However, we were very disappointed in the cleanliness of the house and spent a considerable amount of time cleaning which is not how we planned to start our holiday.

You've heard that saying that in real estate it's location, location, location? This place has that for sure! What a beautiful view! We loved hanging out on the back porch overlooking the ocean. Cottage is convenient to activities, restaurants and stores too. This place is not fancy but it has everything we needed. We would love to stay here again. Thanks for letting us stay here!
