Pretty standard, basic beach house that is a great value compared to many of the huge, overpriced houses popping up. Good location right on the beach. The public beach access made the beach busier than our normal trips, but we never had an issue with anyone. Had some minor issues with an overflow of trash from the people before us and a malfunctioning microwave, but the property manager addressed both within 2 hours of us notifying them. We visit Folly every summer and would definitely consider staying here again.
4.1
Hot water was broken, outdoor furniture was broken/lacking, nails sticking out on deck, kitchen items were in poor condition, should be better curtains to block light at night
4.1
The walkway and stairs to the beach are in total disrepair and not accessible! That was very disappointing. I could only find 5 forks! This is a 4 bedroom house. There is a table on the screened in porch, but no chairs that work with it.
4.1
The house is in a wonderful peaceful area of the island. We enjoyed the house and the access to the beach right out the front door. The outdoor shower on the boardwalk to the house was a huge plus! We would stay here again!

Vacasa was very helpful with a few issues with had. This is not a good property for someone with mobility issues. There are many steps and the stairs facing the beach were blocked off due to a structural issue.
It is right on the beach which is nice to look out and see the ocean.
There is a lot of space with 4 bedrooms. But the house needs a lot of TLC. The kitchen works well and has a nice refrigerator.
The house also sways and that maybe normal, I haven’t experienced that feeling before at a beach house.
The gas logs do not work and would have been nice to have in February.
The WiFi did not work very well but there were rain storms that weekend. So even the Televisions didn’t work well.
4.1
Amazing beach front home. Great views of the beach right out side the door. The decks we spent most of the time when not on the beach. Very relaxing.
4.1
Wonderful house with everything you need, except maybe some forks :-)

There were a lot of issues to contend with during our stay. No TV or WI-FI, no direct beach access, house needs a lot of TLC. Kitchen appliances were nice.

This property presents very well and is easy to live in. It's not close to town and is quiet and calm (we were here in early April). It's very well placed to walk to and visit the Morris Island Lighthouse and its park. We had a couple of minor issues which were handled quickly by the nicest fixer-man.
I definitely would stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay here! It’s an older, relaxed, classic beach house! The kitchen is stocked! The views are stunning!

Overall the home was clean appliances were all in working order. The home has an amazing sunrise and views. It’s is definitely “ocean front” however the beach only exists when the tide is out. There is a screened in porch however the only portion of the porch that seems safe the rest is badly splintered from the weather. The lights on the porch do not function they are literally hanging by the wires. The walkout portion of the deck to the beach is boarded off which makes it dangerous getting to the beach with the dunes and rocks. The inside is spacious however the fireplace is not operable. The fan in the living area works however the lights on it do not. There are multiple outlets throughout the home that do not have covers at all. The kitchen appliances work however there are not enough forks to feed our family of 8 that was there, very inconvenient. The toilet in one bathroom is practically on the floor, good for kids but not older people. The beds need to be replaced they all seem to have “holes” in the middle. None of the lamps in one bedroom had any lightbulbs. The bathrooms need some deep cleaning as the knobs are black with mold.
Thankfully we only stayed 2 nights the views of the sunrise are to die for but the home itself definitely needs work. I am sure I missed something else there was so much that disappointed. We will not being staying here again. The cost to vacation is too high to spend your money on somewhere that does not meet basic expectations.

The location of this home is such a draw. The beach is quiet and serene - and there is ample space for parking for 4 vehicles. The views from the ocean front bedrooms are worth every penny! My family and I have had such memorable weekends here and we plan to be back a third time!

We loved that it was oceanfront and easy access to the beach.

I loved the direct access to the beach. The location was really convenient.

We had a great time enjoying the beach and views thanks to this terrific property!

Ocean view was amazing. Beach was great. Screen Porch and outdoor seating was incredible.
4.1
The home was in really bad shape. Deck was in horrible condition, showers had mold in them, all cabinetry needed to be replaced or at minimum painted. Sleeping pillows are all stained. the two sofa pillows looked to be as old as the house with rips in them. Dining room sliding door would come off track. Kitchen pots and pans are all old and in bad shape. I would not recomend this home.

This house is an old beach house that needs some work and updates. Positive notes: The house was cleaned and the sheets/towels were clean; it also had all the basic needs to get by for a vacation. House was in a neighborhood location and felt very safe. It was very convenient to get to main shopping on Folly and easy to get downtown.
Other notes: The house is next to public beach access. The house needs attention, the ceiling in the garage was falling off, it was missing electrical covers on some plugs, the dryer was missing the vent and the screen on the back porch was torn. One of the toilets was very loose and all a bathroom fixtures has rust on it.
The house also moved a lot, which may be normal since it’s built up on poles, but it was new for me.
4.1
Beach access was very convenient and felt very private like having your own slice of beach. No complaints except the hot water went out on the last day we were staying. Would rent again.
4.1
Overall this is a good beach house. Location is great. The house itself could use a few updates/improvements. The screened in porch is great however the door screen was missing which was disappointing, but still had a good time.
4.1
Beautiful view of the ocean! House was ok, has a lot of maintenance issues that need to be addressed. It also lacks cross-bracing on the foundation piers so the house moves a lot when people are walking through it or wind is blowing hard.. This can make you feel a little unsteady at times while inside the house or on the back deck. Kitchen and main room are is good size. Brand new appliances and couches. Wished the gas fire place worked for the cold nights. Toilet adjacent to the bedroom that has the king is loose and is leaking down through the ceiling of the car port below. Again, the location and view are outstanding but the house needs some work.

This house is in a great location. We loved the easy access to the beach and the oceanfront views. Appliances were great. Thank you for the dishwasher and laundry tabs. Thank you for providing a beach tent which came in handy on hot days. The house needs some work though. Many of the screws are rusty on the porches. The screen porch itself needs to be redone. It’s in poor shape. The screen door needs to be replaced entirely as it no longer has a screen. The sliding glass doors and windows need screens so they can be opened to listen to the waves without letting in bugs and mosquitoes. Many of the plants near the front of the house and driveway need to be cut back as they impede the driveway and walkway. Some necessary upkeep will help get this house back on track.

If you have small children or balance/mobility issues, do not book this property! The beach access of this house is sorely misrepresented since accurate, up-to-date photos are not included in the listing. Pretty much all of the other houses within two blocks of this one have stairs that lead directly to the sand on the beach, beyond the large rocks used as a wave break before the dunes. This house, however, has the stairs leading to before those large rocks, which made it difficult and dangerous for my two young children to get to the beach, and made it dangerous and nearly impossible for my spouse with mobility issues to get to the beach. (He is able to do stairs, but not climbing and hopping over 6 feet of large uneven rocks.) It put a huge damper on our trip and made every visit to the beach (the entire purpose of the trip) extremely challenging and unsafe. Had accurate photos or description been included in the listing, we would have booked a more appropriate house for our family.
The house itself was fine, with a nice layout, plenty of towels, soap, and shampoo provided. Most of the windows had blinds, but not curtains, which made it difficult to sleep as a property next door appeared to also be a rental and had lights on 24/7 as it was not occupied. I emailed beforehand to ask about beach toys, which they said were not included in the property, however there were some left on the porch. We did not use them as we had already brought our own. Finally, there was no broom (though I did find a few dust pans, without brushes, in random spots) which was inconvenient for a beach house, and made it more difficult to deal with the sand that inevitably gets tracked in.
I would not stay at this property again.

As I said, it has great potential but each year it seems some minor things are not repaired. It has a screened in porch but half of the screens are out and laying on the floor of the porch. All it needs is for them to be stapled back up. In several locations outside the ceilings are falling down: underneath where the cars are parked and a stairwell under the house from parking garage to interior. This stairwell and door are also covered in bird poop from birds nesting in the alcove. It's gross and may be unhealthy. Landscaping around the driveways need trimming back so as not to scrape your car when pulling in. These items would not be too difficult to repair considering what we're paying for this place!

We used this VRBO for a much needed girls trip to Charleston. We picked this place because we really wanted to stay directly on the beach. If ocean waves are what you’re looking for, this VRBO definitely delivers. It was a beautiful setting and really checked the box for us with fantastic sunrises and sunsets.
-HOWEVER-
Big Picture: If you don’t really care about safety, or cleanliness, or amenities, or customer service, this place has great views and is the spot for you! Did this place offer us a place to live for three nights on the beach? Yep! Would we go back? No. Would we recommend it to others? No. If you do care about those things, read below.
Emergency response: There is a sign on the fridge that says “If you noticed anything during your stay that needs attention in the home please let us know by texting our guest service number: 843-640-0928.” This is the only contact information posted in the house, and we unfortunately had to use it.
On our second night, the carbon monoxide detector started going off. I reached out to the owner at the above number. The owner didn’t respond, so we drove into town to buy batteries to fix the detector. When we changed them out, the detector continued to go off anyway. We also found a second detector that was hiding in the utility closet. We turned it on and both detectors starting going off. We never heard back from the owner despite repeated texts, so we had to call the local fire dept. to have them check the monoxide levels. The levels ended up being fine, which was a relief because I have no idea where we would have stayed that night otherwise. In the morning, I get a text from Vacasa blaming me for trying to contact them in the wrong way, the way they had on their fridge. When I pointed this out, they said they were working on updating their paperwork in their properties. Frankly, not a great response considering what we had to deal with the night before.
Cleanliness: The pictures in this listing are very misleading. The place was generally clean, but it was not well taken care of. Some of the blinds were broken, the windows were filthy with some of the screens ripped, the vents had gross film over them, the sinks were stained, the outlets didn’t hold onto plugs well, one of the toilets felt like it needed to be fixed or replaced. Some of the glasses in the cabinets had lip marks so we needed to clean them before using. The place felt neglected.
Amenities: This place is pretty bare bones. Because of this, we did not choose to eat meals in the home.
PLEASE NOTE: they do offer beach toys, but we couldn’t find beach towels anywhere. There were white towels for showering, but we didn’t want to ruin them by using them on the beach. As a house literally right on the beach, I think most people will assume towels are included, so we wanted to point this out for other potential guests. Bringing your own beach towels is impractical and unnecessary.

The reviews were correct in saying some updates could be made…but it was nothing that would have made me wish I rented a different house! We loved this house! The location, the comfort, the closeness to the beach, all of it. It was very clean. We enjoyed our time. Thank you for sharing your home:)

Excellent location with nice private access directly to the beach! House was nice, but needed some minor repairs (parking under the house had a few spots with overhead damage where the ceiling was falling through with insulation hanging down). The screened in back deck was very nice for having coffee in the morning and relaxing during the evening, but some of the screens were loose and the patio door was missing the screen entirely so mosquitos were unfortunately hanging around. Handle was missing on the outside of the main sliding glass door to the patio but we were able to tie a string to an exposed bolt a a makeshift handle for the week. Overall it was a fantastic experience and we would definitely rent this place again in the future!

The house is perfect for us; 2 adults and 4 young adults. Our big regret is the rise of the cost for
the future. We simply can’t afford to come to Folly Beach and stay at this house. After 5 years of wonderful memories; we have to say good bye
(my teacher salary just won’t cut it anymore)
We’ll miss you Turtle Watch II

This property was perfect for my family's first trip to the beach! An amazing view and access to a minimally populated beach. The house was very spacious and had all the needed amenities.
With that being said, there were a lot of little things that if not remedied, could cause this property to fall into a less than desirable place to stay: the shower curtains had mold beginning on the bottom. The knob protector behind the front door just fell to the floor when the door touched it. The handle on one of the sliding back doors fell off. The deck had multiple treads that need to be replaced, the screen on the back porch needed to be replaced in several places. The stairwell/door that came up the middle from the parking area, had bird nests and was covered with bird poop.
Overall, the minimal issues did not put much of a damper on our great stay at Turtle Watch II. I would be hesitant to pay the price that we did to stay here in the future, without some TLC given to the property.

This was our first trip to folly and we really enjoyed it. The beach was not crowded and the house is right there on beach. It was nice being so close to Charleston so we could go in for the day. There are 2 good playgrounds on the island which my kids enjoyed. Only downside to location was that there are no sidewalks in area near house so can’t safely walk with the kiddos and at high tide there is very little beach. Fortunately for us we were rarely on beach at high tide due to timing. I was impressed with how clean the house was on our arrival and the management company checked in on us several times via text which I appreciated. We only had one minor repair issue which was repaired by the next day. We had 3 adults and 4 kids (6,3,3,1). The house fit us well. Only issues is there were only 6 chairs at table so we had to bring in plastic chairs from porch to eat together as family. This left us with just a few Adirondack chairs on porch. There were only 2 chairs to use at porch table and we needed those inside. More chairs would be appreciated. Kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and plates/cups. The stove is gas with a griddle which was great. Could use some plastic cups for kiddos. All were glass. There was also only 1 small sheet pan. As with most beach houses there was a lack of cleaning supplies. As careful as you may be it’s impossible to not track in sand. A vacuum and some basic cleaning supplies would be good so you can clean during the week. A broom just isn’t adequate. The house is mildly dated but comfortable and clean on our arrival. The pickets on front steps could use some repairs as few were not well attached. We really enjoyed our time and are considering coming back again to folly and probably even to the same house.

Our family booked Turtle Watch II to celebrate our daughter's graduation from MUSC. It was the perfect, peaceful location for our family to reconnect and relax. The beaches are beautiful and not crowded. Watching the pelicans and other birds was delightful. Even an evening of rain was soothing as we watched the waves from the safety of the screened in porch. Thank you for a memorable long weekend.
