The welcome couldn’t have been friendlier. The room was a nice size, well furnished with a good sized bathroom, nice modern shower and plenty of hot water. The extra benefit of the shared kitchen is nice, along with the fresh milk flasks for early morning tea in your room. Some nice welcoming touches on the bed too.

Nothing, I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. The only thing to be aware of is that the pub does not serve food, so, I ate in Newcastle before arriving, and you can check for local recommendations.

I read many of the reviews and most of them were a bit hung up over breakfast. Id say the communal kitchen/help yourself/wash up after yourself might seem strange but its no unreasonable for the price and rooms.

Rooms and bathoom were big, quiet , comfortable . Warm but i could open the window to let cooler air in. No noise from the pub and a simple system for getting in and out of the venue and your room.

The best thing was the very comfortable bed.

The stairs to the rooms are a bit steep especially for dragging luggage up and down. We managed ok, but might be a good idea to warn people. We stayed two nights, but our room was not cleaned or bed made up between nights. I think it may have been an oversight, but there are very few rooms to do so not quite sure what happened.

I have stayed in my "Pub rooms" in small towns in the UK, and this was one of the best rooms in terms of space, decor, working heat and water and helpful staff. Also, they had a great electronic security entrances that made it better for coming in late after a play.

A superb place to stay! The room was gorgeous & bright, on the corner with three sets of windows, and a fascinating choice of furniture too. The shared kitchen was impressively stocked. And the pub downstairs is a quality, friendly locals pub.

Nothing to say. A totally positive experience. The only downside is knowing the owners are moving on, leaving huge shoes to fill for the new people!

Handy as we went to Alton Towers so close to drive too from there

lack of parking is an issue, the bar/pub closes at 10 so not able to check in late as we had planned, no food there either so had to go to a local shop after we arrived.... only stay here if you are nostalgic for the smell of cigarettes in pubs, even the walls seem authentic in colour to match the aroma!

friendly landlord and locals , help us with local taxi numbers, the breakfast was help yourself and there was pleanty of choice it was all left in a comunial kitchen which had washing machine and dryer , fridge ect. the bedroom was a little warm but we had a fan to use so that was nice. we only stayed for one night sunday where the pub downstairs closes early on sundays so no noise which we had expected given we where over a pub. would defo recomend it was perfect for us as we went to a concert at trentham gardens in the evening , then went back to visit the gardens and monkey forest the next day . the taxis where a realy good price although triple the price after the concert but roads had been closed so had to go the long way round . thanks so much from shirley and chloe

Very welcoming host. We’ll set up and super comfortable bed. Kitchen for continental breakfast was very well stocked and it was the only place I stayed that provided Biscuits with the tea and coffee 10/10 from me.

It was in a very urban area

We stayed here 3 nights for a trip to nearby Alton Towers and from the welcome we received from Andie until we left we can't fault the accommodation, the lovely decor, comfortable bed and great shower. The breakfast was self service, as described, just what we wanted and plenty of options, would recommend and stay again if in the area.

The room was comfortable, although it was hot, but a fan was available. The host was very polite and informative. It was a ten minute walk into the town centre, which was nice.

I didn't like the fact that the smoking area was there. We had to walk through it, and as it was so warm, the window was open, and the smoke filtered up to our room, which was sad. I also did not like that the breakfast was " help ya self" type. The kitchen had all you needed, but for the price paid, I would have thought a sit-down area would have been available. The shower try was dirty , it looked like it had not been cleaned in a while, the picture posted on the booking .com website , I think, is a bit misleading because the room advertised looked great, but it was nothing like it.

Fantastic place to stay. A beautifully decorated, well appointed room, with excellent facilities and scrupulously clean. It was easy to access from the train station and had a bus stop 2mins walk up the road and a selection of supermarkets near by as well. There were plenty of places to eat approx. 10 mins walk away, and the manager has loads of good recommendations. The pub below (which I couldn't hear in my room) was fun with a great crowd of friendly regulars who gave me loads of advice for my trip.

Given it’s areas. The hotel was very nicely decorated, the bed was comfy andThe self serve continental breakfast let us enjoy a well earned breakfast in bed. The room had everything you would need. And the hotel was in a very good location for the wedding we were attending. And finally the bar manager could not do enough for us.
