This property has a spectacular view. The yard is perfect for pets. We had a little issue but was resolved by management quickly. We rented a golf cart but unable to use since motorized vehicles are not allowed on the beach. Great place

The kids enjoyed being at the house and on the beach so much they didn’t want to go anywhere! We assumed they would want to go to the amusement park, not a chance. We had pre-planned a night we would all go out to eat. They went…. But complained that they wished we could have just stayed at the house & on the beach. We will do this again. The house was a perfect fit for our families. (2 brothers and their families.)

Everyone I spoke with the management company was very nice, and the website they provide with information for the house is very helpful! They let us know ahead of time that the hot tub would not be working, and they apologized, so I thought that was nice. However, the house needs some major work! There are a lot of soft spots in the flooring that feel like the subfloor is rotting, and all of the wet surfaces could use a serious deep clean. There’s no backsplash in the kitchen, so the caulking behind the sink is moldy where the drywall meets the counter. There are gaps in the kitchen counter and the tile around the bathtub which leave spaces for bacteria to grow. The rainfall showerhead in the master is heavily clogged with hard water minerals, and there was mold on the shower mat and on the ceiling around the air vent. The home is in a good location but is in serious need of treating for bugs. We saw two water bugs inside the house, one in the kitchen drawers, and there were TONS of mosquitoes that seemed to enjoy the bottom patio area. We didn’t get to enjoy the outside of the home at all, which is a bummer since there is a really nice, new upper deck area. The house was decorated nicely, and the beds were very comfortable, but this house just has a lot of things that need to be addressed.

We enjoy the hot spar, balcony, kitchen, and so on. it need to put some work on floor, cleaning garage and the laundry room.

Overall we had a great trip. I mean who wouldn't at the beach. I was very disappointed with certain aspects of the home. Upon arrival several of the beds (upstairs mainly) were covered in sand on top and under the covers. Had to unmake and shake out and remake. Yuck. The furniture was downright ancient and uncomfortable. You could literally sink into the holes on the worn cushions. Only 2 (sometimes 3) of the burners on the stove top worked. The cookware was awful, most really unusable. Fortunately, I brought several of my own pieces. Dishwasher was unusable and there was a hole in the floor in front of it. So much Maintenace needed on this old home. Especially the floors. The worst part were the bugs. We had ants all in the kitchen and HUGE roaches at night. It's very sad because the home is perfect bedroom wise and location wise but I feel really taken for after spending so much money for the week and getting such a dirty home with so many repairs required.

The house was very nicely appointed, and well-furnished and supplied. We enjoyed the beach being so close and all the activities very much! We will be back! Sean was very attentive to all of our needs.

Perfect house for families with kids and pets. Big plus was the fenced in backyard to contain the toddlers and dogs. Plenty of beach toys and chairs. Hot tub was great. Fishing equipment was not really useable so I would recommend to bring your own like we did.

We rented this terrific house as a preview to a possible summer gathering with our kids & grandkids. Fantastic views with easy access to the beach. The hot tub was warm & could accommodate 6-8 people easily. The 3 bedrooms on the main floor were adequately furnished and comfortable, and the upstairs bedroom is a great kids' bunkroom. There's a huge kitchen with lots of dishes and plenty of cooking equipment, although some were in need of replacement. The bathrooms definitely need some updating and the Master bath has very limited closet space for clothes. We were told that a renovation is planned in January or February and look forward to seeing the changes they make. We'd definitely recommend this property for a large family group.

We had a wonderful trip. Beach access couldn’t have been any better! Though the home is a bit older it served our needs just fine! Sean at Leeward was amazing! He was attentive to every one of our needs- from Christmas decorations to a photographer to a wine shop! Thanks again!

The house is in a fantastic location. We loved watching the sunrise, dolphins in the ocean and reading and eating on the deck. The house had a big space to gather and the kitchen is well stocked. We have stayed at many VRBO type of places. While we enjoyed the house location, there were things that we needed to call on; cleanliness, tiki torch fluid smell that had been spilled in the laundry area and still smells (flammable), broken items and house in disrepair. The photos on the site should be updated with how the house looks now and what furniture is in the house now and remove the photos that have furniture that is no longer in the house. I would recommend the house to stay in, but just know that the house is a little tired and the photos are a little misleading.

We started planning months in advance. We wanted a beach front property. This is that! We walked countless times down to the water. We were able to rent golf carts. It was awesome! When we arrived there was a maintenance man repairing the toilet, which did not flush well at all, it was eventually replaced on our last day there which I found inconvenient but they were very quick. The the hot tub was one of the things a lot of the other beach houses didn’t have, it was a seller for me and it was so disappointing. It was never hot, the jets didn’t work and it was gross feeling. I did let them know, the communication with the property manager is great, so if you had an issue it was handled. Although I didn’t understand in the past reviews the hot tub was mentioned so I assumed it would be top notch. It was not! The comfort and house was wonderful. The layout is perfect for gathering. We felt the couch could use replacement. The master bedroom was an absolute delight opening the door straight to the beach was wonderful. The other rooms were nice, comfortable. My cousins said the other toilet might need to be replaced as well. No stress like the it doesn’t flush stress!! The gated yard & downstairs was also perfect when the sun got too hot. We had to clean the tops of the tables before we could use them, we figured though it gets windy and there is sand. Perfectly placed water hose on the deck to wash shoes & feet. Great being able to bring my pet. Lots of toys in the garage but also creepy dirty in there. Washer & dryer worked great. The house did come stocked with a few supplies such as cutting boards, old pots, cups etc.. that was helpful. I tried to be detailed in this review. So many others reviews helped me choose the right home. I would stay here again. Thank you!

We stayed at this beautiful beach house for 4 nights in October of 2021. It was a wonderful stay. The house was clean and one of the best equipped houses we've stayed in. The upstairs bunkbed room was a perfect place for our 5 grandchildren to sleep. The master bedroom and bathroom was amazing. Sleeping in the kingsize bed was like sleeping on a cloud. It was so comfortable! The master bathroom was roomy. There were 3 other bedrooms downstairs and another full bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked with everything one would need including plenty of pots and pans, dishes, coffee cups, and all appliances. The living room was roomy with a nice large comfy sectional. Our favorite part of the house was the downstairs patio area. We stayed there when weren't on the beach. There were hammocks, a couch, a bar, hot tub, horse shoes, bean bag toss, and more. It was the best spot to escape the hot afternoon and still be outside. There was an outdoor shower with running hot water and hoses to rinse of your feet and shoes. The yard was fenced most of the way around. We brought our own small pet fence (about 4 yards long) to finish off the fencing that runs along the downstairs patio which worked like a charm keeping our dogs in the yard. This house has a room downstairs that has a washer and dryer. It is also FILLED with beach toys, crab traps, fishing poles, outdoor games, body boards, etc. AMAZING! My family rents a house every year for a family beach get away and we all decided that this was our favorite house that we've ever rented. The owners have done a great job creating such a nice place and the managers were very gracious and easy to contact when we had questions We will rent this house again!

We stayed here a few years ago and love it…that’s why we chose it again. This time was a huge disappointment. Upon arrival at 4 pm the cleaning crew had just started cleaning. We had groceries & small children that had to wait in the heat until almost 6 pm before we could get in. Even then they had to come back the next day because there were dirty towels and blankets left in closets, wipe down spills off walls and dust. Several lightbulbs were burned out but were told we had to change them which is fine (although for the money that shouldn’t be our job) but there was no ladder and ceilings are to tall. The new stools around the island are too tall for the counter so we could not eat as a group together. The hot tub jets didn’t work and most disturbing of all we discovered mold on the kitchen cabinets. If the property manager/owner needs pictures I can send them. The location is great but for the price it is no longer worth staying here.

We had a great time on our stay. You literally do not need to bring anything but some groceries for your stay. This place provided almost everything, including fishing poles, sand toys, laundry detergent, board games, ect. We way over packed, as this was our first VRBO experience. We had more than plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 kids. The fenced in yard made it great for our kids. The only complaint that I can come up with was dirty dish in the oven and maybe the weather and fishing could have been a bit better. Overall, I would totally recommend this house to anyone staying in Galveston. My family will rebook this location on our next visit.

If you are looking for a place to just kick back and relax this is it. We woke up to some of the most incredible sunrises. Enjoyed being right on the beach. Check in and check out was the easiest we have ever done. The property manager was excellent at keeping in touch and answering all of my questions. We had an amazing time, we hope to return again next spring.

We really enjoyed our time at the house! The beds were comfortable and there was a towel and wash rag set out for each adult. I also appreciated that the check out process was easy and painless. The kitchen is fully stocked and we were able to find pans for all of the cooking we did. We didn’t have any children with us but there was a whole drawer of utensils just for kids. The hot tub was a nice touch, and we spent a lot of time in it. It didn’t get super hot, but we still enjoyed it. The stovetop range gave us some issues - some burners wouldn’t light, and the unit would click while we were cooking. We didn’t reach out to management about it as it was manageable for us, but they may want to look at it. My chocolate lab also really enjoyed the yard. All in all a great stay, and we’ll be back!

Quiet, private beach house, nicely furnished but not pretentious. We weren’t scared to sit on the couch or use dishes for fear of ruining some posh expensive item. So we could just enjoy the house which was clean with an excellent view. We will definite book again, though next time we will bring our own toilet paper and our own towels. We loved it.

My family and I (5 adults, 2 children, ages 2 and 3) stayed at Leeward Retreat for 12 days for Christmas and New Year's 2020--2021 and had a wonderful time. This house is right on the beach with an easy walk (1 minute) from the house to the beach. The 5 bedrooms gave us plenty of room for everyone, and while it worked out OK, it would have been nice to have more than 2 bathrooms. Although the listing said the living room furniture was due to be replaced, it had not been when we were there. There were some initial problems with getting the TVs to work, but management took care of it promptly. Of all the houses I have ever rented, this was, by far, the best equipped with any kitchen appliance you could want. There was toilet paper, paper towels, and dishwashing liquid to get you started, but the pantry and refrigerator were filled with numerous items such as coffee, sugar, flour, spices, seasonings, etc. Although there were no beach chairs, there were plenty of sand toys, boogie boards (which we didn't need), fishing equipment, games, etc. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and the deck underneath the house where our little boys could ride on their scooters. We also appreciated the fact that the yard was completely fenced in so that the boys could run around outside without our having to worry about them running into the street. Overall, this was a great place to stay, and I we would definitely stay here again. Probably one of the best things about this rental was how helpful the management company was in responding quickly and efficiently to every question or problem that we had.

The green bedroom leaked when we took showers and initially on my daughter's suitcase and we had to wash all her clothes. Entry keypad to door didn't work, so had to call management who was very responsive to give directions to a key Also responsive to the report on the leak. The repairman said it was the roof, but it wasn't raining. I saw reviews in the guest book that said it was leaking before and the sheet rock around it looked like it had been leaking for quite a while with some mold. I honestly was embarrassed to have this happen with our family vacation. And with what we had to go through with Covid this year we really needed some rest and assurance of being in a clean place, and this wasn't what we expected at all. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here.

This is the second time this year we have stayed at this home. The home is appointed nicely and comfortable for our family. The beachfront location is dreamy and the hot tub was nice on cold nights.

Everything was clean and wonderful. Our only complaint was the bathroom situation. There is a great huge bathroom in the master bedroom but it’s not convenient for anyone else not staying in that room. So a lot of people had to share the other bathroom which the water in the shower was difficult to regulate as well.

This vacation was nearly perfect. Our selection process for choosing where to rent was based on available Internet, as our son is working remotely during this pandemic. Upon arrival, there was none. For the first 2 days, technicians of some sort spent several hours, masked, in our “home” while still not able to revive the internet, watching us cook and eat, trying not to impose on swimming suit changes, etc. Though management was communicative and apologetic, that did nothing to ease the anxiety of our son—and ourselves—on what was to be an anxiety-free holiday. In fact, the entire audio/visual set up failed (about 5 boxes, 6 remotes). And rather than an offer of recompense of any kind, we got a “well, these things sometimes happen.” We understand they do, which is why we were so stunned to be the ones discovering that the internet had been in shambles for some time, according to the technicians. The problem(s) were not new, and could have been addressed prior to our arrival, as we’d been booked for several months. We would absolutely stay at this property again as it was virtually perfect for our needs. We won’t be renting it again, however, due to the above review.

Over all our stay was wonder. We did however, come across a 4 foot rattle snake. By the mercy of God no one was hurt but could have ended badly. The snake did try to Attack my daughter who ,at the time, carried her little girl in her arms. I will advice the owners of the property to build a walk way for the safety of the guest. Thank you!

What a great experience our family had at Leeward Retreat. We have 8 adults and 6 kids (ages 4 and under) and the house and location were perfect. Things that we especially liked: Beach is about 30ish yards from the house so easy walk for kids and we could go back and forth easily; large den w/ plenty of seating, large kitchen island that w/ lots of seating; all light switches are labeled; kitchen is very well stocked, organized, and labeled; hose on the upstairs deck to remove sand before entering house, outdoor shower, kids and adults enjoyed the hot tub, comfortable beds, a bunk room upstairs; and Sean was extremely quick to respond each time I communicated w/ him. All the adults loved it, and our grandkids are already asking to go back to the beach house.

The Leeward Retreat is a great property. Listen to the ocean waves and enjoy your time with family and friends. The property is very well equipped with all the kitchen supplies we could ever need to cook. The hot tub was great and we grilled fresh gulf shrimp on the barbecue grill. The house is stocked with board games as well as an entire room filled with beach and water sports supplies for outside. Management company had great communication and answered questions promptly. We are already planning our next trip to the Leeward Retreat.
