The Purple Pelican is an Awesome beach house!! The bedrooms are comfortable, cozy & decorated impeccably (so is the rest of the house)! The kitchen is well designed & has Everything that one could need (including griddle, wine bottle opener, plastic storage containers, etc). There’s also great beach stuff on site (sturdy wagon, chairs, mini plastic shovel & toys for kids to use while playing in the sand, large beach towels). The house is just a quick & pleasant walk over to the beach and one can view the Gulf from the comfort of the back porch. This was our 1st stay here, but we plan to return again. It’s truly a HOME AWAY FROM HOME!!

House was super clean. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. Huge plus when you have kids. Kids room was spacious enough with 4 beds. You can see the gulf from the living room!

We found this property to be absolutely gorgeous!!! It is incredibly well appointed from an abundance of silverware, plates, cups and mugs, to labeled light switches, to spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Lovely touches like individual Keurigs in some bedrooms with complimentary pods and bottled water. We thoroughly enjoyed drinking coffee on the porch in the mornings and watching the sun rise over the ocean. Even though the property is not ocean front we were able to see and hear the ocean just fine. It is also a quick walk to get to the beach AND it is a short walk along the beach to the Tipsy Turtle should one desire to go there. Highly recommend this property!!

As always, a fantastic time was had by the entire family! Lots of room for us to have our own space. Grandchildren enjoyed all the toys & games. Very helpful to have tent, beach toys, & wagons to transport them. Beach is close by. Grill came in handy for grilling. Looking forward to be back next year!

Checked in on Oct 14th. Next morning, woke up to roaches. So many roaches that we opted to not cook in the kitchen after that morning. Coffee pot and toaster had roaches crawling over it as well, including dead roaches on the Krueig and next to the water reservior. We saw that another guest posted about the roach issue in July. We sent a message to the owner asking about this issue and was assured that the problem was handled. It was not. This house constantly had roaches, big and small roaches. These were not outside, southern or beach bugs, but roaches. The response from the host was not acceptable. First response was "best not to leave food out, thanks for update". We were making toast! No food was left out. We had bananas and the coffee pods on the counter only. Everything else was in the frig. The next response from host was on Monday because I complained about now roaches were in the master bathroom, on Oct 16th at 11:58am host replied: "Expect bugs at the beach; our pest control will address it next week and sprays monthly, apologies for any inconvenience." We had to opt to not cook any meals at this house after the first day. Everthing was in frig. It did not matter, we had to use the can of raid left under the sink each day. To say that I felt disgusted and disrespected is an understatement. We paid thousands of dollars to stay for one week in a place that was roach infested. We took video and pictures of the daily roach issue. We were ripped off and defrauded.

The purple Pelican is a beautiful home in BSV. We enjoyed a relaxing time in this warm, inviting and well appointed home which is a short walk to the beach. Any issues (we had none) are quickly taken care of by the friendly and attentive owners. This home is exactly as it appears on VRBO ( we all know this is not always the case ) so hats off to the owners!

There was plenty of room for our entire family. Each bedroom had a bathroom; especially great since we were staying at the beach. The beds and furnishings were excellent. The layout afforded a lot of privacy. We had everything we needed. Very relaxing.

This was our second time staying at the Purple Pelican and it was great. Plenty of time in the sun at the very close beach. The owners were kind and quick to respond. The house was neat and tidy. We’re already planning to come back next summer!

The home and amenities were fabulous! Beachside Village is a great area. The beach access from the house is very convenient. We were very disappointed to find those little German roaches in the kitchen, in drawers and in the dishwasher after it was run. When we mentioned this issue to the homeowner his response was that it was time to spray again. The property manager did reach out on Wednesday after the issue was reported on Monday but I didn’t get his voicemail until Thursday. I returned his call and he offered to have someone come out and spray. We were nearing the end of our stay and didn’t want to have to worry about getting everything out of the way for an exterminator to spray the home properly to rid the home of these pests for the following guests. We were traveling with small children and cleanliness was very important to us. The roach issue really put a bad taste in our mouth about the entire stay. I understand that pests can be an issue anywhere, but for what we paid to rent the house, we should not have had to deal with roaches daily.

Such an amazing house. We had four “families” and each had enough space and room. Everything was clean. Only tiny downside was cockroaches but that could be expected around drains and rain. Great communication with host, especially with small check in hiccup. Absolutely would stay again.

Our entire family, including our grown kids and grandchildren, thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The owners included little amenities which were very thoughtful. The house is spacious, in a beautiful neighborhood, a quick and easy walk to the beach, and close to the city of Galveston for quick shopping trips. I would highly recommend this home!

We enjoyed the house and proximity to the beach. Plenty of room. Nice to have beach towels and accessories available for use. Kids enjoyed riding their small bikes on the patio. It was great to have a hose available to rinse off before heading upstairs. Some issues with flies, mostly from the outdoor trashcans. We moved the cans and sprayed underneath where something had leaked, which helped quite a bit. Daughter-in-law ordered some sticky fly traps which seemed to solve the remainder of the problem. By no means did this affect our trip negatively, but I might recommend packing some sticky traps. The house was very clean, and also fairly kid-proofed (our kids are 2 yo, 4 yo, and another 2 yo) We moved a couple things out of reach, but otherwise it was great. The house is in a beautiful neighborhood! Overall, excellent!

Beautiful house with wonderful amenities. Love the neighborhood! Very clean beaches with great safe beach access. Had 5 children under the age of 10 and very kid friendly. Beds were extremely comfortable and house is well cared for. We will be renting this house again next year!

The purple pelican is a wonderful beach house in what must be the nicest neighborhood on the island. You really can’t beat the location - it’s steps from the beach and close to the strand. Billy is very responsive and accommodating, and also sent a fantastic list of activities, recommendations and resources. Would definitely rent again!

Staying was Heaven! The house was beautiful and a short walk to the beach. The family loved our stay there. Will be definitely coming back!!

It was a great property. It was within walking distance to the beach and had beach toys, chairs, umbrella to use during your stay.

We just loved our visit and stay at the Purple Pelican. The entire Beachside Village is adorable and our favorite place to stay in Galveston. The house was perfectly suited for our family. Lots of space, everything was so nice. We loved the balconies for enjoying our morning coffee. Fun games to play in the evening, plenty of toys, chairs, and the canopy for the beach. A quick walk to the beach. It was great! Can’t wait to go back!

We ranged in age from 4 months to 80 years and the property was perfect for everyone. We celebrated a 4-month birthday, a 10-year birthday and a high school graduation while we were there. We loved the location, both for its access to stores for supplies (though remote enough to be quiet and calm) and for its access to the water. Our crew set up the tent on the beach in the morning and different groupings came and went throughout the day. The property was beautifully maintained and well-equipped with beach gear, kitchen items, linens, you--name-it. The decks are perfect for morning coffee, evening drinks or just hanging out. We couldn't be happier with the property and everyone wants to repeat next year. sue hall

I hosted my mother’s 70th birthday getaway at the Purple Pelican. It was the perfect house for a group and the location was outstanding. Exceeded our expectations.

Spacious and well appointed house. We loved the proximity to all of Galveston. The owners were very attentive and available. Even ordered a new board game and shipped it to the property! We ended up extending our stay for two additional days. We will be booking this property again for our family get away! Five stars!

This is our second year in a row staying a the Purple Pelican. We loved our stay again. The layout of this house works perfectly for our family which included 9 of us ranging in age from 3 to 66. I love that there are ample bedrooms and bathrooms for all. We never feel like we're on top of each other. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are lovely, it's close to the beach, the balconies are great and the property in general is so nice. I used to go to Galveston all the time as a child and the town holds so much nostalgia for me. We are hoping to book for a third year. Love it. Book it. You won't regret it.

Staying at the Purple Pelican was excellent. We rented the house Easter week/weekend from April 4 thru April 10th. The community was quiet, relaxing and peaceful. The house was close to the grocery/liquor/shopping stores and restaurants. The suggestion book was great to have so if we needed anything, it could be easily found in the Guest Book. Check-in was hassle free, along with check-out. We had absolutely everything that we needed. There were more than ample supplies, cookware, dinnerware, and eating utensils. This was one of the most fully stocked places that have ever stayed, so I would not hesitate to book these accommodations again. A very big plus to have insect repellants on hand. We didn't grille anything this trip, but it was nice to know a grille was available. Supplies were plentiful, and the Red Wagon was perfect!! I can't say anything bad about the Purple Pelican and look forward to revisiting Galveston and staying there again. The owners are clearly client-oriented and thought of everything that we would possibly want or need. it was very much appreciated. A great find for us!! Thank you to the owners for sharing this wonderful home with me and my family. We tried to leave the place as clean and immaculate as we found it!

Wonderful place! Had teens with close enough for a drive to town and yet far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet ! Well maintained and clean property !

This is my second time to stay on this property, and it was just as great as the first time. I really appreciate that the house provides beach towels, lawn chairs, beach toys, corn hole, and board games. It's so nice to not have to pack all that. The house is a 1-2 minute walk to the beach. The beds are comfortable, and the house is clean and nicely decorated. If I ever stay at Galveston again, I would more than likely book this property again.

We had such a great experience last year we came back again! The house is gorgeous, high-end, well-appointed. We also love the green space and the easy access to the beach. It’s by far the best rental I’ve ever stayed at - a true 5 star, 10 out of 10.

A very nice and spacious home a few minutes walk from the beach. It was very clean and nicely decorated. Our hosts were very friendly and responsive when we had questions. I would definitely stay here again on our next family trip to Galveston.

This was our first trip, post pandemic, and we weren’t sure what to expect with our first VRBO rental. It’s been years since our last family trip to Galveston and rentals have changed for the better. The Purple Pelican provided the most wonderful atmosphere we could have hoped for. It was incredibly clean and just as gorgeous as the pictures on the listing. The neighborhood was absolutely fantastic. Quiet, beautiful, and so close to the beach. Also close to anything you’d need in town. Even with the very chilly temperatures and rain, we so enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen was very well stocked, there isn’t a single thing that you could need that isn’t included. The bedrooms and bathrooms were great and had such a homey vibe. Such a bang for your buck with this gem. Every detail was perfect! Thank you for a wonderful stay, we couldn’t recommend this place more!

Everything was as expected. The property was ready on time, clean and spacious. Multiple balconies and floors allowed us to spread out and made it feel even roomier. Great for porch sitting morning, noon, and night. We cleaned off the cushions after some bird friends stopped by. The hose made it super easy. Soap and Kleenex was a nice surprise since my little one was recovering from allergies. Would definitely stay again. The only thing I might add was a crockpot so dinner can be ready after a long day on the beach. All of the beach items in the shower on the lower floor were put to good use. Everything I would’ve packed and more! Thanks for being such gracious hosts.
