We loved it. From the very first contact with the Dervil team, we were in good hands: responsive, gracious and informative, willing to answer a myriad of questions asked by two people who had never been to North Captiva. They continued to help us throughout our stay -- we even got a call from the owner checking on us. It was like having a private concierge service. We cannot say enough. Their enthusiasm for the property was evident, and as soon as you pull into the driveway, it is clear why. Rounding the turn in your golf cart, you are transported, your tropical vacation has begun. Echoing previous reviews, the kitchen is well stocked (waffle iron!), the views are excellent, from so many spots in the house. Truly steps to the beach...and the pictures don't do it justice. We enjoyed Stella Maris so much we ate all our meals there. We could not tear ourselves from the view: days began with sunrise on the roof, went till sunset over the Gulf, and ended watching satellites pass overhead from the hot tub. A note about the island itself: do not let the need to pre-order and pack in all your food deter you. A tiny bit of planning (and Dervil will help) is all it takes to make your stay perfect. The proximity and diversity of wildlife more than compensate for the sparsely stocked convenience stores. This is closer to a Caribbean villa rental than a Florida beach vacation. We were happy to trade Walmart convenience for the luxury of quiet, uncrowded beaches, beautiful water, and having nature close to hand.

We had a wonderful time at this property in North Captiva. It was our first trip and I was a little nervous about getting all of our ducks in a row but everything went off with out a hitch. The property owner and manager are both highly responsive. The location is beautiful and the beach is right there. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house and spent most of our time hanging out there at the beach. The kitchen is very well set up (instant pot, waffle maker, griddle, good blender, drip coffee maker plus Keurig too). There were a lot of beach things in storage too that came in handy during the trip. I loved waking up and having my coffee on the deck looking out over the Gulf. It is a very relaxing and private place to be for a week with the family. The beach is lovely and we even caught some fish right off the shore.

Stella Maris is a fabulous property. Views are incredible and the kitchen is well equipped. The property manager was one of the best we’ve ever dealt with. So informative and responsive! We’d love to come back for another stay!

Location - Location - Location - Privacy - Privacy - Privacy!!!!!!!!!! Wife commented the kitchen was well equipped and best ever for a rental. We enjoyed every minute of our time on the island which was 28 days.

We can not say enough good things about this property, the owner and property manager. From the moment we booked - Joe was attentive to our needs and responded promptly. Yvena the property manager greeted us once we arrived and went above and beyond her duties and was always a quick text away. The home is gorgeous with plenty of room to spread out, very clean and well stocked for entertaining. We hosted several dinner parties with a private chef and the large dining table was perfect! Some highlights of the home include the short walk to the stunning beach - the hot tub for late night entertaining - and the roof top deck to take in the absolutely breathtaking views and sunsets. WOW!! The Stella Maris golf cart was top notch too! Head and shoulders above the one our friends rented from the club. We brought down our boat and were able to keep at the Safety Harbor dock the whole week for a nominal fee. This allowed us to explore the Pine Island Sound including Cabbage Key- Useppa Island- Captiva- Cayo Costa and Boca Grande. Highly recommend renting a boat for a day or two. Our last night was NYE and we dined at The Boathouse. Due to staff shortages, there was only one person working the front and one chef - but they killed it!! We couldn't believe our host/waiter/bartender was getting us our delicious cocktails so quickly! Overall an amazing experience our first time to N Captiva- we will be back and hopefully will be able to stay at Stella Maris again!! Thanks Joe for sharing your home and the little slice of heaven-N Captiva- with us! It was great to escape life for a bit!

The house is spectacular, the island is wonderfully secluded, the weather was perfect and we got 2 weeks of the most perfect sunsets. The views and location of this property are unparalleled… we never once ventured to the marina pools because the beach was our backyard. We cooked 98% of our meals and grilled galore, the kitchen is almost better stocked than my own. The upstairs bedroom accesible by stairs and crossing a terrace is ideal if you have teens (like us)… they won’t keep you up until the wee hours. Joe was one of my favorite property managers, he was wonderful to deal with, very involved and quick to answer any questions or solve any issues. My husband was working the first week of our vacation and I can attest that wifi was perfectly adequate for zoom meetings. Some other properties don’t come with a golf cart, and you have to rent ones that are in need of TLC, this house does and is a brand new and spacious one… the limo of golf carts. I can’t sing enough praises about the house and Joe, wish we could have stayed longer… we will be back for sure!

What a lovely place, It stopped me in my tracks when I first walked in! What a view from the deck, we saw gorgeous sunrises and gorgeous sunsets, and played at the beach all day.The kitchen is top of the line, with every appliance you could need. Oh, and the speakers all around, made it so fun to dance and sing while you cook. Would definitely go back again. It was a week to remember, something I needed. Thanks Joe! He was great also, very helpful and never got tired of my sons wanting him to play golf. The best house and host there!!!

This place has the perfect balance of privacy and beach accessibility. Driving up, you feel a bit like you're in Jurassic Park--very lush with a semi-hidden path snaking through the rainforest. Once we got there the layout was perfect for our family. We gave our teens the "detached" upstairs bed/bath so they could stay up late and sleep in (couldn't hear them at all), while we slept downstairs with what was still a dynamite view of the ocean. The kitchen was very well-appointed with gas burners and tons of cooking accessories. We cooked about half the time. The last night we gathered on the roof deck to watch pods of tarpon feed right off our beach at sunset. Magical place!

This property is everything it is described to be and more!! From the minute we entered the house we felt relaxed and welcomed to North Captiva Island. The house and property are beautiful. The setting is very private with easy access to the beach. The house was clean and bright. The bedrooms and bathrooms were stocked with plush linens. The kitchen was stocked with all the cookware and appliances that you could need - better than any other property we have stayed at. The outdoor living area was as nice as the indoors, with areas of shade and full sun. The view was amazing. You could see the entire island from the top deck!! Perfect for sunrise and sunset. We are already looking forward to staying here again! Thank you!!

We lucked out booking this beautiful home! This was our first time visiting North Captiva and it couldn’t have been better. The home is clean, spacious, fully stocked with high end appliances and cutlery which makes meal prep enjoyable. Not to mention ocean views from every level of the home. The air conditioning and ceiling fans keep the home comfortable and cool. The beds are super comfortable which makes sleeping enjoyable. There are plenty of bathrooms and showers to clean up after a day at the beach but the best shower is the outdoor shower which gives you a truly tropical experience. The 6 person turquoise golf cart that is provided is fun and stylish. Just an added bonus as you cruise around! There is a fully stocked garage of beach gear. Sand toys, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards etc. Just Awesome! No need to leave the house or property unless you just want a change of scenery or to go to one of the two pools. There is a quiet pool and a party pool as we called them. Just depends on what you are in the mood for! Great owners and hosts. We are thankful for our experience and time at Stella Marie.
